There have been a handful of times that I couldn’t live in my apartment due to the conditions. Avid never seemed to think it was much of an issue. First the water heater broke in the middle of winter, then there was the rat infestation(rats not mice), and most recently they decided they wanted to paint the whole apartment before I moved out to make it look better for potential renters. Heaven forbid they wait till after I move and lose a few bucks on a potential renter. I’ve lived here for years and been a great tenant. During this large project, all of my stuff is piled in the middle of the rooms, covered in tarps and strangers are there all day painting. There’s dust everywhere from the plaster repairs. I couldn’t even use my kitchen if I wanted to bc of all the stuff piled. They didn’t even offer any sort of compensation, yet I can’t stay there for days. Who knows when it will be done. Unfortunately it’s Boston and I guess it’s expected for landlords to be slumlords.

Beware. Don’t ever rent an apartment from these slumlords. Their units are over-priced rat dens and are very poorly managed. You need to raise hell to get anything fixed. They charge you $ 75 if you lock yourself out and need to be keyed in. I lived in an Avid Management unit for one year and couldn’t wait to get out. 28 days after my roommates and I vacated the apartment, I called their office to ask if I could come pick up my security deposit check. The woman I spoke with became irate and told me that because I was bothering her, she deliberately would not cut the check until the last possible day required by law, and hung up on me. Worst rental experience I have had.
