If you haven’t been to Someting nice then you are missing out. This place has great food. Especially the Jamaican Jerk chicken and the Goat Curry. The people that work there are very friendly and I will definitely go again. It is kind of in a weird location right on McGrath highway but keep in mind that they have parking on the side of the building. You should also be aware of their operating hours which are not exactly normal for a restraunt. But if you snooze you lose. Thank you Someting Nice. See you again soon.

Pics of food from this restaurant look way better than it tastes! I ordered the jerk pork meal and food was drenched in jerk sauce you can buy at the supermarket. The food did not taste like authentic Caribbean food at all. The food is way over priced. I paid $ 15 for the main dish which did not include sides, they were an additional price. When I opened up my container to my dismay not only was the food cold after the 45 minute delivery wait but the side order servings took up most of the plate then the main dish. My plate was covered with soggy rice. The doubles were oily and not good. Lastly, the Mauby — do yourself a favor and just don’t get it

Absolutely no respect for a place that try to pass okra for callaloo. Yes! You read it correctly, they give you okra(also known as gumbo – not the southern dish) but advertise it as callaloo. What a shame. Extremely deceptive. They may fool Somerville/Cambridge folks, not me. I know what Caribbean food is. On top of that, their jerk was too salty(imagine what they try to hide adding salt like that). Small portions, but high prices that sharply contrast with subpar quality. Avoid or try with low expectations… And stay away from their so-called«callaloo»

My husband & I went to Some Ting Nice for the first time last night & we were not disappointed. Jerk chicken was perfection! Macaroni pie was incredible & fried dumplings were heavenly. Good service, large portions & parking right on sight. Prices were very reasonable. We will definitely be going back. This place is a gem!

I was greeted by everyone in the restaurant I have to say my order came pretty quickly. The restaurant wasn’t busy and it was very clean and relaxing. I wished they played some soft music to add to the ambience though. My wings were tasty, both wings and sauce actually. I would definitely recommend!

Ok from the day I knew what this place was I was DYING to go… Most of my friends wont try foods they dont know(the ladies at work I mean) I would beg & beg & no go… So one night I told the BF I was stopping to bring it home(as he loves Stew Chicken & Curry and such)… He told me great, you know what I eat so just get some stuff. Well $ 80 and more than«SOME» stuff later — order was placed and I was counting down the minutes. I placed the order on Foodler which made it super easy to write comments. Now I have to back up by saying In my past I dated a Trini for several years & when introduced to the food FELLINLOVE… so it has been quiet some time since I had some good West Indian Food. Doubles happen to be my absolute favorite thing on earth so I ordered 4 — thinking in case anyone else wanted some I had 2… Ordered Jerk Chicken, Stew Chicken, Snapper, Got all types of Sides, Callaloo, Macaroni Pie, White Rice & Peas & Rice, Pelau, Curry Shrimp(originally wanted Buss Up), Literally got a little bit of EVERYTHING… As soon as I placed the order they called me to tell me they had no Buss Up(which is the Roti skin all crushed up so you can just pull apart pieces, they told me they had no Roti — sad but not that bad) just got the Curry Dinner Instead. So we hung up. She then calls me back again to tell me she only has enough to make 2 Doubles — Thats fine at least I get 1 At that point I started reading all the reviews & noticed that they run out of things OFTEN — But I get it you make it fresh in the morning & when you run out you dont make more. Makes sense when things are fresh. Got there waited a few minutes & everything was done! Flew home as my car smells were starting to make me crazy & I needed to eat. Get in the house & the containers were literally all starting to disintegrate. Had I had to make a few stops or not going right home(and Im about 6 mins from there) It would have all been in the plastic bag all mushed up. Some’ting nice you need to get some better take out containers, because it was scary — they were like thick paper and literally when it picked it up the whole bottom fell out. So we plated everything took a bunch of pics &DUGIN… it was all soooooo good. Callaloo wasnt as good as Ive had in the past but everything else was great. The DOUBLES, OMGTHEDOUBLESLOVELOVE and the Tamarind Sauce was just as I remembered. The jerk was too spicy to even eat. It burned my mouth off. The curry was SOOO Good. Mom liked her fish just next time she said she would rather something DE-boned! Will def be going back as soon as Im ready to eat! Just hope to not be out of everything that day!

We recently came back from a trip to Jamaica and have been craving jerk chicken since. We spotted this Carribean style restaurant while driving home one day and had been meaning to try it out. Today we visited for lunch and walked out with happy bellies and big smiles on our faces. The food was fantastic. My husband and I each ordered the jerk chicken which came with two sides. My sides were the calaloo and the roasted eggplant. My husband’s sides were the fried dumplings and aloo. The jerk chicken was moist and spicy. Fair warning if you don’t like spicy food, this isn’t the dish for you. The fried dumplings were to die for. There’s definitely an Indian influence in the sides dishes we ordered. The service was good. Our server was very friendly and our food came out in a timely manner. We were worried that we would be waiting quite a bit due to other reviewers on Unilocal. But, we had nothing to complain about and plan to visit this restaurant many more times!

I remembered this place from a Unilocal elite event where they were one of the vendors handing out samples and it was good enough that I remembered to come back to the actual restaurant. Wasn’t as good as I remembered, but it was decent. Tried the jerk chicken, Mac pie, and an eggplant side. The chicken was spicy but too sweet. And the dark meat was good but the white meat was much too dry. The eggplant side I think they messed up on and gave me something else cause it was def not eggplant. The Mac pie(macaroni and cheese but done like lasagna and cut up in blocks) was the best of my offering. It came out piping hot and had nice spices going through it. The bf ordered the raga muffin(oxtail stew) which was actually really good, tender and the sauce was nice with the Caribbean rice and beans. I’d come back to try more stuff and maybe during dinner service to enjoy the live music

At this rate I’m never going to get to try Some ‘Ting Nice’s Bhaji side $ 3(fried bhaji leaves or spinach). They were out of that and beef on the evening of our visit. Also no soup, cause of the season. Their dining room was the most full I’ve ever seen it. Service was initially provided by the sole gal at the hostess station, then later a fellow provided some assist. As another table had been seated just before us, and two other parties arrived shortly after, service was a tad slow and we couldn’t get our order in for nearly 20 min. Then it was another near 20 min before our meals began arriving. Tobago Special $ 12.99 chicken pelau, rice, peas, chicken, veggies in coconut cream served with steam veggies and plantains Shrimp Roti $ 12.99 with aloo(curry chickepeas and potatoes), mango kuchela(on the side), no Pepper, curry sauce on the side Macaroni Pie $ 4 Bakes Caribbean mac & cheese Pumpkin $ 3 fried and mashed with garlic & spices It all arrived as a parade, one or two items at a time. The chicken dish was the larger of the two entrees, with the shrimp numbering 5 tail on crustaceans. The tender chicken was camouflaged within the pile of brown rice and beans. The veggies were crisp tender, the plantains sweet treats though were but four mouthfuls. I entertained myself making mini bundled mouthfuls of the flaky roti bread with the shrimp and vegetables. The mac & cheese cheesy and the pumpkin sweet/savory. A satisfying meal. Tip: Don’t come hungry or in a rush to get somewhere else after your meal. And don’t have your heart set on any particular item, but rather be ready to be flexible.

My surprise dinner was #Some’ting Nice for sure! A delectable treat of great Caribbean cuisine I ate everything on my plate and my guests plate too! I am happy to report that our food came right away and we ate 3 dinners in under 45 minutes… Ragga muffin with rice/beans and pumpkin mash Jerk chicken with macaroni pie and plantains Beef patty on coco bread with white cheese Also, we had fried dumplings of course and can’t leave without getting a shrimp roti to go No wait Good greeter/waiter Generous portion size Clean dining area and rest room Therefore, I nominate this food as a top of the line Caribbean cuisine… way better than the around the way spots in the Bean this food is made with passion, not mass produced

Very delicious and super cheap meal! I had the jerk chicken and rice and beans as a side. For my other side they were willing to sub in the beef patty which was great too! I lived in Kingston Jamaica for 2 years and this food is one of the most authentic(and tasty) versions I have had in the US. The service was great and everyone was super nice! The owner is a former Olympian and has his medals and prizes on display, very cool!

Went here Saturday night on the recommendation of a friend and bolstered by glowing Unilocal reviews. It was pretty active, though had many open tables, and was surprisingly roomy inside. Very odd décor, kinda business in the front, party in the back. For some reason we still had to wait while they organized a table for 3 for us, which took two different greeter/servers. Odd. The menu is really interesting and comical with headings like«Eat Yo Greens» and«Wats Te Drink,» and required some Googling(I had no idea what«pommecythere» was, apparently, it’s a Caribbean fruit, nor did I know that«melongene» was eggplant) to suss out, but we settled on the fried cod fritters and«Doubles»(described as two fried flat breads with chick peas) to start, and the fruit punch(amazing, I don’t know what’s in it, but it’s not the icky red mess you get in a school cafeteria, it was fab!) and Sorrel(hibiscus) juice(sweeter and more«from-concentrate”-tasting than I’ve had elsewhere, boo). The fritters were great, not too spicy, though the sweet tamarind(why is there cinnamon in this sauce?! Go away cinnamon, no one wants you here!) sauce that accompanied it was not my favorite. The chickpea filling for the doubles was again, cinnamon/nutmeg-spiced and sweetish(blech), and the flat breads were soggy, I couldn’t eat them. Left those on the plate where they belonged. My friend enjoyed them though. I got the white-meat roti, and they only had the«Buss-up-shot» available, which the waitress explained meant the roti/chapati/paratha would come shredded on the side, and the chicken would come cooked with potatoes/chickpeas. I requested the«tamarind kuchela» because I didn’t know, until after ordering, that that was indeed the sweet apple-pie-like sauce they served with the fritters. Blech. But the roti was absolutely yummy. I was so full but couldn’t stop eating it. Really well-seasoned and well-cooked. My friend ordered the chicken curry with beans & rice & plantains(I tried her plantains, yum!) and her curry looked identical to my roti filling. She cleaned her plate. Like bone-clean. Our other friend got the salmon with mango salsa, which looked beautiful, but she only ate half, complaining that it was cold. To be fair our food took FOREVER to come out. We were in the restaurant for 2.5 hours. Mostly waiting. But I don’t know why she didn’t just ask them to heat it up. But oh well! Our service was bizarre. We waited an extremely long time for our appetizers, and had to ask repeatedly for them, as they seemed forgotten, after 35 minutes. We had to ask for silverware, I had to ask for plates to eat our appetizers off of, and the server only brought 2 out of 3 of us plates, so one friend ate the appetizer directly off of the shared plate. After the apps arrived, there was another very, very long wait for our entrees(which arrived at different times). I could hear the kitchen bell ringing beside us, and it took the server a long time to attend to it, get the plates, and bring them to our table. But in spite of the massive wait, and the fact that our single appetizer plate with two fritters on it was the sole food on our table for 45 minutes while we waited, the server repeatedly asked, «are you done with this?» And tried to remove the plate. Why would that be necessary? There were no entrees ready, there was plenty of room on the table, and there was nothing else to eat! What was she going to do with our appetizer, anyway? She also asked my friend if she minded if she re-used her glass to serve her second glass of punch, and when I asked for two to-go containers(which she never offered though I had ¾ of a plate of curried chicken, a pile of shredded roti, 2 codfish fritters and 2 dishes of sauce sitting in front of me for 10 minutes after we’d finished eating) she only brought one, and when she returned to the table, inquired«will that fit or will you need a 2nd one?» I told her I’d like a second one. I don’t know if they’re hard-up for supplies or something, but don’t make that my problem, as your customer. Have someone run out to Target and buy you some dishware and to-go containers so you can get through the night! And the restaurant wasn’t even close to full. They need to get their act together. I enjoyed most of the food I tried, and would love to try some other dishes, but I may have to wait till they get the machine a little more oiled.

My rating is for their delivery service, not the food. The food is fantastic! But delivery… not at all. Tonight it took THREEHOURS for our order to arrive! Put in an order with Grub Hub at 8PM. Deliver estimate was around an hour. A little after 9pm we called to check-in on the order and were told our driver was on the way. At 930 still no food… called again. This time we were told the driver was in Cambridge and he only had one order prior to ours. At 10 we called again and asked if they were being honest about the driver actually being out and having out food. Received more run-around from the restaurant and was told that yes, food was on the way. Finally at 1056PM, after canceling our order and being refunded by GrubHub, our food arrived, three hours after putting in our order. Yikes.

On McGrath Highway in Somerville, there is a parking lot on the side of the restaurant, a short walk from Broadway in East Somerville. A delicious variety of Caribbean fare. From Jamaican jerk chicken to the Tobago special, Some ‘Ting Nice serves dishes with deep flavors. Complimentary soup(rotates daily) is served before the meal with entrees. The soup of the day was hearty with vegetables, chicken(if you wish), and dumplings in a pepper-based broth. The jerk chicken is of course a must with an incredibly flavorful portion of spiced, sweet, and saucy chicken(on the bone). The spice brings a moderate level of heat. St George’s goat is cubed off the bone and served as a green curry stew. The meat is tender and the sauce provides plenty of aromatic flavor. Other recommended entrees include roti(with the traditional bread, similar to naan and protein of choice) and the Tobago special(chicken, rice, and vegetables in a coconut cream sauce). Some ‘Ting Nice dishes usually come with two sides and an excellent way to eat vegetables. Aloo(curried chick peas and potatoes) blends well with a similar sauce to St George’s goat. Bhaji(creamy) and callaloo(stewed with okra and pumpkin) are similar to spinach. Bodhi(curried string beans) and pumpkin(served mashed with garlic and spices) are also stand outs. The macaroni pie is a must — cheesy and baked as a casserole.

The food here is good but the challenge is receiving it! If you can go in person then I would say go for it. If you planning on a delivery then I would say consider eating somewhere else. We ordered through eat24(which we usually do) one night and after about 90 minutes I called the restaurant with no answer. Contacted eat24 customer support who able to eventually to speak with someone at the restaurant. Apparently, our order was misplaced and the restaurant was now closing. That’s right no dinner. Fortunately, eat24 was able to put a rush on an order for a different restaurant. Prior to this experience, we have had the wrong food delivered to us, delivery orders come really late, but this was a new low. Sorry to say, no more Some Ting Nice for us.

When everyplace else in the ‘Ville has a 2 – 4 hour wait but you still want delicious food, Some ‘Ting Nice is a sure bet. Do: –Get the ginger soda. I tried all the bevvies, trust me, that’s the best. House made, right amount of sweet and sharp, the other drinks are a bit cloying for my taste. –Eat the crap out of the delicious complementary soup that comes with all the meals. And no, that’s not potato in the soup — it’s cassava! The stuff that boba is made from! –Get the conch(I tried all of my friends’ dishes and that was my fave) –Try the jerk salmon: also delicious, but very spicy! –Get the roti: also delicious, also quite filling –Get full before your meal has concluded — it will be hard not to –Go in with the expectation that not everything will come out simultaneously. Perhaps that’s why people’s take-out reviews are so poor — the timing is perhaps not their forte. Knowing, though, that if you go to their restaurant and they’ll bring out the food when it’s hot, and it’s fine if some people at your party start eating before others(especially if you want to do some taste-sharing) everything is goin to be okay mon. Callaloo held up my dish coming out, but of all the sides I tried, damn that mac & cheese pie was delicious. Next time I think I’ll do that and the plantains — who wants to come with me?

This restaurant was on last Sundays Phantom Gourmet as a «hidden gem» and yes they were right. First time visiting and the place was very clean, family oriented and plenty of seating is available. I ordered a dinner plate of Curry Goat with Cassava and Plantains. A complimentary soup came with my meal so I chose Chicken Soup. The soup was hearty and filled with small dumplings, carrot and potato — it reminded me of my grandparents who always included the bones for flavoring. The main course was very good, plenty of tender goat with thick slices of plantain and cassava. Definitely putting this place on my list.

Came in again to give it another try after my first visit. The staff was just as friendly and welcoming as they were on my first visit and I really like the Caribbean murals they have. This restaurant is very unique for Boston. I had the jerk chicken and thought it was perfectly spiced and delicious. The chicken tasted fresh and not processed. The sweet plantains were also perfectly sweet and crispy.
