Very tasty place to eat in South Haven. We liked it so much the first night that we ate there again for dinner the second night. Filet bites, soup of the day(Cajun chicken corn chowder), fried artichokes, and Korean bbq chicken were very good. My son liked his burger but it was the low point in our dinner. The special French onion soup mac’ cheese was delicious but not the potato pancake my daughter got the second night. Mussels were over cooked. Interesting ‘gyros’ egg rolls. Overall, great martinis that are strong and well done. Fair prices and service was fine. Bathroom was nothing special. Clean and utilitarian.

It was good. We had a speed bump in that we waited(and waited) over 20 minutes before our first tapas came out, but the waitress noticed and then they started coming out quicker. Nice place, generous enough tapas. The ribs probably stood out the most. I was excited to get red snapper — never really see it on menus, but I’d pass on next time. Get it if you really like tarragon. We would return to this place again.

We visited last night on a whim and found that the ambiance was nice, the décor minimal but it fit and the menu was large so we decided we’d give it a shot. Overall, we weren’t disappointed, it wasn’t amazing like so many reviews say but it was good and the prices didn’t see out of whack. I don’t normally like small plate restaurants but it was worth it for me, they also offer normal size burgers and such if you’d like. The only recommendation id offer to management is, please prepare your service staff to be attentive and communicate when delays happen — our server was a bit distant and it wasn’t busy, plus she didn’t seem to know the menu at all, which to me, is first place before working the floor. From a guys perspective, I think I’ll hit the pub across the street next time but from a husbands perspective, it’s a nice place to take your wife.

Great food, good portions and lots of gluten free options. Just beware some items CAN come gluten free but if you don’t designate they won’t arrive at your table that way. Sushi has eel sauce although marked as gluten free option… definitely worth that one small bobble!

Food was delicious, a little surprised by the negative comments from other users. We ordered 4 small plates, the filet bites, shrimp, potstickers, and blackened chicken. All were fantastic but the shrimp was by far our favorite. I had 2 martinis, the lemon blueberry and the salted Carmel. Both were good but strong… if you aren’t a big drinker you might want to try something else. For dessert we had tiramisu and I swear my husband and I inhaled it in 30 seconds. I’m only giving this 4 stars because we had a crappy table and it was extremely loud. We were at a 2 seat table in the corner next to a huge group. They were totally obnoxious(which, some of this is me. I am a major introvert but still). They finally left and were replaced by a smaller and less obnoxious group. Service was slow, but he was polite, friendly, and knowledgeable of the menu. It was a Saturday night and they were busy so I’ll give him that. Definitely need to try if you’re in the area.

Visited Taste 2x over Mothers Day weekend. I was alone, but felt comfortable sitting at the bar, as most folks who DO sit at the bar are hospitable and like to chat. Saturday’s afternoon small plates for me were the Cuban Shrimp(yummy, but not as spicy as I expected) and the fried crispy artichoke hearts w/roasted tomato aioli(good!), accompanied by a Ginger Lemongrass martini(highly recommended!!). Sunday’s(Mother’s Day) return visit, still sitting at the bar, and WAY busier than Saturday(good for Taste) — Gyro rolls that were divine, and as I cut into them, the grand smell of fresh spiced lamb instantly set my mouth watering! This was accompanied by a Pear & Bleu Cheese salad(also divine!) and an Absolut Mule(I must have been in the mood for ginger that weekend!). My bartender on Sunday, a sweet, knowledgeable young lady with flowers in her hair was MAGNIFICENT!(I wish I remembered her name). Saturday’s crew didn’t seem happy at all, although after chatting a bit with Jared, he opened up and smiled during the rest of my lunch. I recommend Taste when visiting South Haven. I only wish there were more welcoming smiles, not only from the staff, but from the owner, who seemed grumpy, preoccupied and not welcoming of folks to her own establishment; bad energy. It shouldn’t be up to the patrons to make the staff smile.

This place is amazing. Had the filet bites, Korean BBQ chicken and the potstickers. All were absolutely amazing. The staff are knowledgeable and helpful and I have never had a dish there that I haven’t liked. I highly recommend this restaurant. The food is tapas style so it’s shareable ask your server to explain they are more than happy to do so and explain how many dishes to order per person. There price is right and u can share. I love it here. Highly recommend.

I am OBSESSED with the tomato bisque! I get it every time I come in. I’ve always had the same server and she’s always been so kind. Chef Joel has a great thing going! :)

I absolutely love the food here, there is so much to choose from and I have never ordered something I haven’t liked! Very clean and quick service! The only issues I’ve ever had was a couple less than attentive waiters.

This place was very inviting as far as atmosphere and name for us. When we came in we were greeted by the host and we asked to sit at the bar(open seating). Very cute inside and lightly dimmed lights throughout(mood setting haha). I ordered martinis both nights we went here. Green tea martini and the blood Mary martini. Green tea martini– very strong for my tasting but did the job to give me a good buzz :) haha. But it definitely tasted like green tea with a little kick. I normally would not order that based on the green tea part but the bartender recommended it considering I’m not a huge vodka person. It was drinkable and not a disgusting taste. Bloody Mary martini– I personally thought this needed a little more flavor to it. Not enough spice, a little too plain for my likings. The presentation however is very pretty. That I did like. I need to come back to try the food. Based on what I saw and comments from others, it all sounded fantastic and smelt delicious!

We had a nice experience here! The patio was perfect for us, as we wanted to dine with our pup and it was spacious enough that we didn’t feel like we were bugging anyone else. The hummus was perfection, the Korean bbq pork dish was tasty, but we found the Mac n cheese to be average. Definitely dig the concept behind the space. Took a little while to get our food but we didn’t mind since the location on the patio made it all worthwhile. Staff was very friendly and helpful.

Yummy little restaurant! We had lunch outdoors and it was perfect. We had the steak bites, crispy artichokes, the pork shank, and blue cheese and honey! Everything was delicious! It was all fresh and tasty. The service was exceptional! The only downside is you can’t have drinks outside. It’s got to be a city ordinance, because we were told the same thing at Maria’s. However Phoenix Street let us have Mimosas outdoors?!

Consistently innovative food! Love this place :) Great location. There are a few items we can’t forget, they are sooo good! The filet bites, the mussels, the BBQ chicken(omg) and the crap napoleon. The cuban shrimp has a delicious sauce but it was the shrimp was not as flavorful this time around. Great drinks and service as well! I fear sharing this bc its no reservations and I fear it being hard to get in! Plan on a 45 min wait when you go but luckily its in a great area in South Haven so killing time is a delgiht!

We arrived in South Haven hungry for lunch and stopped at Taste after reading the reviews. Small plates are right up our alley. We had the tomato bisque soup, which was very rich. My husband got the kale salad and I had the pear and blue cheese salad, which were equal in excellence. Filet bites followed for my husband, which were quite tasty. I had the Korean BBQ chicken. The thigh had a nice char on it and the bulgolgi sauce was a sweet compliment and the wonton strips were a satisfying crunch.

Good food, nothing real exceptional, but prices were reasonable and service was good. All things considered Id say it doesn’t quite live up to the hype, but worth a try if you’re in S Haven and you’re in the mood for small plates. Chicken sandwich was small, although it was supposed to be part of the menu of «larger» items(I eat like a goat so small plates are never my best pick). Atmosphere was clean and sharp, but again, nothing real unique. Overall the experience was just«ok» considering we waited over an hour for a table.

Amazingly the hostess here was reluctant to seat our party of 7 outside because it «might be hard for the server». When I suggested that we split the party into 2 tables she insisted that we take separate checks. Uh, we had 5 kids with us and Tastelost out on a 100 check on a slow day. Way to reinforce small town thinking and a total lack of customer service.

The family and I came her for a quick little snack while staying in South Haven. We heard taste is a must while staying here, so we went for it as our first meal. We decided to just share three plates. We ordered the catfish, the sweet and spicy shrimp, and the gyro rolls. All came out quick, hot, and tasty! The shrimp and catfish had a really good sauce on them, and the gyro rolls were like a Greek egg roll! Brilliant! The highlight of my meal had to be the tzatziki sauce, the best I think I’ve had! Overall it was a great snack, I just wish we ordered more so I could try more of what they had to offer!

Taste has mostly tapas style small plates. But we had sandwiches with salads that were both excellent. I had a special request, catfish sandwich with the Pear and Goat cheese salad. While my bride had the Grilled Cheese with bacon and a kale salad. Definitely worth a try.

3.5 stars. Not sure what else to do in South Haven, MI on an icy winter night, we found Taste on Unilocal with mentions of its beer selection. Despite its nondescript name and the suspicious nature of a small plate/martini bar, we decided to check it out. The first thing I noticed upon entrance was the presence of kids at a couple tables. A little unusual for a martini bar I thought, but not a deal breaker as long as they are well behaved. The menu is pretty extensive with something for everyone. There is a 1-pound chocolate cake for $ 15. The friendly bartender told us about the 6 beers(all from the state of Michigan I believe) on tap. My goat cheese and beet salad($ 6) was light and I liked it. Husband enjoyed his filet bites($ 13). Cheese plate only had 3 kinds of average cheese, definitely not worth $ 10, though the sweet pepper jam accompanying the grilled brie was a pleasant surprise. Hummus($ 7) was so-so.
