Probably some of the worst Chinese food ever tasted. Even the water had a funky flavor. Should have trusted my instincts when walking in, but always one for adventure I pressed on. Combination fried rice included some hair, not just but several-yuk, but even before encountering this added extra I was put off by the food. Flavors were all off, nothing at all seemed remotely fresh, waitress continued to lick her fingers when coming to our table, and my clothes stank after leaving. I left most of the food ordered behind it was that bad

The meat in the soup of the day was questionable; it may have been tuna? I asked for my fried rice to NOT have any shrimp and I find the outer shell of a shrimp in my food. The lady was super sweet who served us, but I can’t get over the fact that I’m grossed out.

Our go to catering restaurant for all occasions. Heaving, overflowing portion. Good flavoring. Best price in town. Fast service. Can’t go wrong with those combination.

While other places try to charge you overpriced food, May Fair remains conservative with their pricing. This is definitely a place for my to-go food. Decent price, pretty good food, pleasant services. I will try dining in in near future.

Good food and service very friendly. Me and the wife got the dinner special A. It was very tasty and they give you alot of food Won ton soup, egg rolls, beef chow mein, fried rice, and cashew chicken. Good flavors didn’t need soy sauce.

The beef stew was authentic Chinese down to the fatty chewy bits, but the sweet and sour fish, curry shrimp, mixed vegetables were average. At about $ 40 for four dishes, there are better options for Chinese food.

Very good meal, not so great service. I guess they only have 2 people working here and the girl has to do everything therefor she is not around to bring another drink or your check. Probably best as a take out location!

Their corn over fried fish filets, pork belly with mustard greens, and steamed pork cake with salted fish were very tasty. I would definitely get them to go again. Portions were large and the prices were at least a few dollars cheaper then other Chinese places. Not a trendy or updated restaurant, but run by friendly family.

The food was bland and it was just soy sauce color. We stopped by for dinner around 8pm and there was only one customer. The tables were red in color but it didnt look appealing. Either they have to get new tables or recolor it. It looked sticky. We order eggplant which was ok but was slightly under undercook. Then order the curry chicken w rice. Man that is a huge amount of rice! If i was in china they would have given that amount to me! It is a waste. They could have tailored the portion of rice w the curry. We also order beef stirfry w rice and again over kill w the rice compared to beef stirfry. We then order stirfry noodle which came in the same size as the rice plate but huge! We had 3 people and couldn’t finish it. I think they need to make smaller amounts. Again not much flavor in all the dishes. You can see all the soy sauce they use just to color and flavoring. I would not recommend it or come back.

The hostess is very sweet, patient and kind. As much as i want to love this place, the food is on the oily/greasy side. I usually only order here as a last minute choice for Chinese food since it’s pretty fast and not busy.

Delicious and cheap. What more can I say. Generous portions and very tasty. The fried rice is awesome, and only $ 3 for a bottle of Sapporo and $ 2.50 for domestic beer.

Came here for the $ 5.75 lunch special. They had 6 choices to choose from. I’m not sure what time the lunch special ends, but we got there around 2:15pm and they still gave us the lunch special deal. The house soup that comes with the lunch deal was good. It had a lot of meats. #3 lunch special was the best deal. #1 was just ok. Just taste like take out chow mein. The portions were large tho! I would come here again for the lunch special and try something else.

A friend recommended this place and it is close to home so we couldn’t wait to try it. We were SOO disappointed! I ordered Szechwan green beans over steamed rice and my husband ordered lemon chicken with pork fried rice. Everything came quicker than expected. The fried rice was just«ok». The lemon chicken was gristly little chunks of dark meat with sweet in sour sauce(what happened to lemon sauce?) My Szechwan green beans came shortly after and were ALSO covered in sweet and sour sauce. Ewwwww! The waitress noticed that I only ate a bite and asked if everything was ok. I asked her if they had Szechwan sauce instead of sweet and sour. She took my plate, went in the back and the yelling started. A few minutes later she came back with the same plate, m y beans had been scraped off the steamed rice and refried with 3 times as much SWEET&SOUR sauce! 3xEwwww!!! They took the beans off the bill, we paid for the rest and went down the block to Satay Thai. We won’t be back… Did I saw Ewwww?

Looks like a family business. Meals are cooked fresh per your order and if you want something special, they can make it. They have a great luncheon menu for under $ 6 and it seems like their fried chicken is the #1 item. These plate lunches are huge and their menu portions are huge. Prices are very reasonable. For 6 dishes the meal was 60 – 65. A good fine!

We thoroughly enjoyed our dinner at this old-school Chinese restaurant. The wet beef chow fun was flavorful and delicious. The fried intestines were nice and fatty. And the sliced pork clay pot was simply sublime. Unlike most Chinese restaurants, the service here was really nice. Our waitress was very friendly and attentive throughout the meal. Our bill averaged out to around $ 13.50 per person.

May Fair is NOT a fancy restaurant. May Fair is NOT place where you look for décor. May Fair is NOT for I get-dressed-and go on a date kinda place. That being said, May Fair *IS* a pretty decent restaurant. I am giving this place a 4 star rating based on the rubrics you have for a small, hole-in-the-wall place! After a 13−14hr long day, when I’m looking for food, I can be rest assured that they will give me tasty food, good food, fresh food, and nothing less! The menu is quite extensive considering their kitchen size and the number of chefs. The price is good, nay terrific! The portions are good. The seating hostess is sweet, carries herself well, and smiles. Their eating utensils are relatively clean(again, comparing them to big fancy restaurants or dumpy places)…even when compared to the restaurant on the opposite side! The sauce bottles are not grimy or empty with a ‘when-did-i-refill/clean this last’ look! So, again, if you compared 10 such restaurants, they definitely deliver! Parking can be a pain at times. I’m going back there!

$ 5.50 gets you a full meal(huge portions) including house soup with hot tea. Good deal! If you are looking for an «OKAY» meal with the«Rachel Ray» $ 40 dollars a day — this place will get you there. For lunch they have a three item menu including rice, soup and hot tea for only $ 5.50. The servings are HUGE so you really have to be super hungry. They serve you their«A» typical«American Style» Chinese food catered more for the Westerner palate. If you are looking for an authentic Chinese cuisine this would not be the place for you. However, if you don’t mind once in a while munching on your«A» typical — sweet and sour sauce, lemon chicken and combination chow mein — pay a visit to May Fair. Service has been the same of the several times I have been here with my co-workers for lunch: adequate! The goal here is to eat and go!

3 stars I went for their special during lunch which was a plate of white rice with an egg roll and super sweet pork that tasted like ti was deep fried but rehydrated due to all the excessive sauce added this is one of the old school spots on Grand ave it has been here a long time. I will have to go back and try a different plate, what I had was more or less nothing amazing but it was cheap and filling haha horrible I know, but you got to try at least 3 – 4 items before really giving a spot like this a decent review. again I got to come back but if their food is just as good as the special I ordered sadly after my second time here I will not be able to come back food *** es ok price $ yeah it is cheap service *** ambiance *** old school chinese restaurant feel
