I’ve been coming to Amighettis since I was young, I think it’s the best food that I’ve ever had you can’t get anything better than the special or little bit of Italy

Any review with less than four stars in insane. If you purchase the Amighetti’s special or the Little Bit of Italy and you don’t leave with the feeling that you just had the best time in your life, then I question your intelligence.

I have been here a few times and each time they are consistent. I normally get the Amighetti’s special which is a classic. I haven’t really tried much else but would recommend stopping in if you are looking for a quick lunch. The store is in a new location and clean. The tea is nothing to write home to mom about… could upgrade that a bit.

ammighettis special, a true legend in St. Louis. This is my go to place for a fantastic sandwich. The bread is always great too. I’m sure the other food is ok, but this is the place to order one thing: «the special»

Wow, worst sandwich ever. I ordered the«Choice Roast Beef with Gravy». They call it choice, well my choice is never to order it again, I’d say eat it again, but I honestly couldn’t eat this one. It was obviously that cheap deli style roast beef«like“product that you might get at the grocery store, not the«we roasted and sliced this» kind. The texture was not unlike bologna, roast beef flavored bologna. I guess the gravy wasn’t completely horrible.

So far, most people seem to have reviewed Amighetti’s sandwiches. I’m going to be one of the odd-balls by reviewing the pasta. My husband and I were in the mood for spaghetti and meatballs. The menu board at the counter listed two sizes: side and regular. To me, a side is something small that you have with a main course. We wanted a decent amount of spaghetti, so we both ordered the regular size. We definitely should have asked about the sizes because the regular was quite large. Our spaghetti was brought to us in hinged-lid foam containers with plastic utensils. It also was served with bread and butter. The food was pretty good. The meatballs were huge, but they were inconsistent in flavor and texture. Another thing that was inconsistent was the amount of sauce; my husband had way more sauce than I did. The bread had a hard crust and was not warm, but it’s served like that at plenty of Italian places. It’s just not my style. The price was good for the amount of food. The regular size was priced at $ 8.25. I ended up bringing half of mine home. .. and adding more sauce to it.

I finally got around to trying Amighetti’s, and I was not at all disappointed. The Amighetti’s Special sandwich was delicious! I got the half sandwich with cole slaw, and I ate every bite! The employees were friendly, the food was prepared quickly, and most importantly, the sandwich was incredible! Many reviews critiqued Amighetti’s ambiance or lack thereof, but a true sandwich lover does not go to a deli for the décor! The place was very clean, and there were some nice decorations on the walls. What more could you want?

If I still lived in St. Louis this would probably be my Sunday sandwich shop. The restaurant is free standing and easily accessed(despite road work currently going on). To be honest, the only reason we went there is that it was Sunday and we were leaving for home that evening. Since The Hill location isn’t open on Sunday(per long tradition), we opted for Rock Hill. To be sure, it isn’t the Hill. It isn’t historic, quaint, and for us doesn’t carry any sentimental value. It also doesn’t have the attached bakery, so no delicious smells. It is shiny and new, and has pretty standard décor in modern world of fast food. It does have self-serve drinks(unlike The Hill), which was nice because it took a while for our order to be prepared. The menu is about the same as the Hill, and all the expected sandwiches. As always, we ate too much! A sandwich and drink should last several days, they are so gigantic. I had a Special, my wife had the Little Bit of Italy, my son the Vegetarian, and my daughter the French Dip. Some sharing was involved, and everything was delicious. Taste wise, it seems identical to the original location on the hill. The bread comes in frequently, and is quite fresh. I am told it comes in at least daily, sometimes multiple deliveries. The meats were great– fresh and generous– with some coming from Italy and some from Volpi Foods(a neighbor to Amighetti’s on the Hill). All in all, it is great food, but I would go to the location on the Hill in St. Louis if I could. A larger menu, better ambiance in the store, and much better ambiance outside. A post meal walk in Rock Hill doesn’t have anything to recommend it. Strip malls and heavily trafficked street, unlike walking The Hill area, with lots of shops and old houses, etc. If I lived in Rock Hill I’d probably visit this location and do take-out. Great way to build a sandwich patter for game day, for example, or just to take home for dinner without spending time cooking. Eating in is fine, but better than, say, Wendy’s largely because the food is better, not the shop.

All of the reviews before this are exactly correct. There is no reason to go to Amighetti’s any more! What used to be such an awesome sandwich shop has significantly gone downhill. I was really disappointed when only two people were ahead of me in line and it took twenty minutes to prepare my «Special» sub. The secret sauce tasted like nothing more than Miracle Whip. I think Jimmy John’s or any other chain can out do what Amighetti’s is bringing to the table. Step up your game, folks!

Stopped in for a sandwich, but went for a #3. Mostaccioli, salad, and 2 slices of chewy delicious french bread. Sauce was a little sweet for my taste, but it was still good. Good size portion, that I couldn’t quite finish. Price $ 7.

I have been going to Amighetti’s since I was little. Best sandwich is Little Bit of Italy — no olives warm!!! Im not a fan of the«special sandwich», but thats what my brother has always gotten… Its consistent and I will continue to go back as long as they are in St. Louis and I bring family from out of town here as well, they love it.

There is nothing«Special» about the Special Sandwich at this location. If you order one prepare to get a pre-made sandwich with mushy bread and lettuce. Their soups of the day are meh nothing special and lack flavor the only one that has been good was the clam chowder which they very rarely have. Their Meatballs(alone and in a sandwich) are pretty dang good. If I do go there for lunch that is what I typically order. They usually seem pretty busy and have a lot of people going in and out with party trays so they must not being to bad with business. The staff are nice and the place is usually clean. My advice if you are going for the Special Sandwich is to order it special so they have to make it fresh and your lettuce and bread won’t be soggy.

The first time I had Amighettis, i had the one on the hill and this one just keeps missing my expectations. I am picking it up for lunch though so maybe thats why. I like their bread but they don’t give you enough butter. And this location their lasagna seems runnier too much tomato sauce and its not even a good sauce to make up for it. And the food overall is not very hot when I get back to work and its not a long drive away. Its lukewarm at best and needs microwaved.

This Amighetti’s is not the«mothership» but one of the branch offices. It’s a good place to grab a «special»(pretty much all I get here) and the lines are not often long and the service good enough. Not quite the charm of eating on the Hill, but if your hungry and around this part of Rock Hill, a good place to grab something good.

Had a craving for some pasta, so I stopped in for some spaghetti. Meatballs were terrific. The rest of the dish was sub-par. The sauce tasted like it was out of a can. But damn their meatballs are good. I’ll stick to the meatball sub next time.

The«Greatest Sandwich in the World Quest» made a stop here one Saturday afternoon when I was really, really hungry. So, when the most ENORMOUS sandwich I have ever seen came out I was pleasantly suprised… and EXCITED! You may not know this, but the bread they use at Amighetti’s is the same bread that Mom uses at her deli(Mom’s Deli). Back to the sandwich though: of course I had to order the Amighetti special, and it did not disappoint. It was loaded with meat, cheese, Italian dressing, onions, lettuce — all the fixins that you would expect from a classic Italian sandwich. A very good choice and it is towards the top of my list of greatest sandwiches in the world. The ambiance in this place is not the greatest, and I haven’t been to the location on the Hill so I can’t compare. If you are in the mood for a good sandwich, go with the Amighetti special — just don’t go for the experience, go for the sandwich!

Contrary to Jon L’s opinion, I think Amighetti’s would NOT be in the running for greatest sandwich, but then again, I’m not searching quite so hard. I got half of the«little bit of Italy» sandwich and a side classic salad. The salad claimed to have artichokes(I saw none). I was expecting something similar the the Pasta House Co. salad, but this didn’t even live up to those standards. Mainly iceberg lettuce and some olives. The sandwich tasted microwaved, and the«cheese blend» seemed to be a mixture of American and Provel… YUCK! The décor, or lack there of, was sparse and less than clean. I will say we came after the typical lunch crowd, so maybe they just hadn’t wiped off any of the tables yet or swept the floor? Unfortunately, I would have to say save your sandwich attack for somewhere else.

Certainly not as cute as the one on the Hill and the food takes an unusually long time for what it is. It’s especially slow at lunch. The food is great – just like the food at the Hill location. I like the turkey pastrami sandwich and the pasta salad. They sell cannoli which are great. The Amighetti Special is delicious and arguably a St. Louis tradition but I don’t like to eat pork very often so I usually stick with the turkey options.

If you are excpeting the same service as the one on The Hill, don’t come here! The food is the same thankfully. If you can get past the teenagers who are working there then you’ll be fine. The staff is rude and self involved. The tables and floors were dirty and the staff was standing around goofing off and talking. The music playing was offensive and not family friendly. I will make the trip to The Hill next time and avoid this location if at all possible.
