Just had lunch at BJ’s Q~Shack. After reading the first review I had to see for myself what was going on. YES the operation has been taken over and I was happy to find out that it was by Angie Lampert, Plush Pig BBQ fame. I spoke with her and got the skinny on what was going on. She is rebranding the old BJ’s. Menu and all is being changed. She wanted to see how Gulicious was performing prior to reduing everything. I’m told that the name change, menu items, as well as open hours are all reset. Oh yea, fantastic new patio seating. No more having to eat in the car The official name is: BJ’S Q~SHACKBBQ. Let me tell you; it’s fantastic. Rib tips that melt in your mouth, pulled pork, pulled chicke, of course links, polish sausages, burgers, and St Louis spare ribs. If you don’t want sauce then ask for it on the side. That’s all you had to do Brian. You won’t find any fufu items here. Just pure perfect BBQ Shack fare I hightly recommend

When I first saw that BJ’s Gul-licious Backyard BBQ had reopened I made my way back to get some of their delicious BBQ. However I was shocked to discover that the sign was painted over and was no longer going by the same name, instead BJ’s Gul-licious Backyard BBQ had become BJ’s Charcoal Grilled BBQ. Not only did the name change, but so did the menu. I can only assume that someone else took over the business and didn’t want to change the name. Previously BJ’s made the bold claim that«The sauce is NOT the boss» however that is no longer the case because sauce is very much the boss. For my order I went with the Rib Tips, which was served without a side however they were available for purchase ala carte. The Rib Tips were good, however they were covered in sauce which is not how I like my ribs. Prices were fair, however the menu itself was very limited. Items like Grilled Wings, Rib Tips and Pork Steak Sliders were really the only bbq items available. Yes there were also items like burgers and sausages however the menu was lacking compared to before. The food was good here yet not nearly as good as before or at other great bbq joints in Saint Louis, overall I cannot help but miss BJ’s Gul-licious Backyard BBQ.
