Went for lunch and was the only one in the place. I order the loin back ribs, sweet potato fries and potato salad. The ribs had great smoke flavor and were moist and tender. The texture of the ribs had the consistency like they were left over from the day before. The fries were really good and crispy. The potato salad was a fail. The sauce was great, i’m hoping lemon juice is an ingredient due to the fact i found a lemon seed in the sauce but i wasn’t discouraged. The atmosphere is lacking. The severs boyfriend came in and brought her food, which is fine. But then they happened to start a loud awkward argument in front of me. Once he left the server began ranting to me how much she«hates men». Needless to say this place needs work.

I like patronizing places in areas of the city that are still emerging, such as the Grove area. I tasted some of Flavors BBQ at Taste of St. Louis(not always the best indicator) and thought I’d try it since I needed to be at the Central West End anyway. I ate around 2 pm, place was empty, and had a sign saying they were not taking cards(inconvenient). So, I drove down the street to Commerce Bank to an ATM. The inside was sort of a mix between a bar and restaurant, and I was the only one there. The waitstaff was fine. I had a large pulled pork sandwich and sweet potato fries, and a coke. The pulled pork is more in thick strips than the more typical shredded type. Good, smoky taste. The sauce could have used more flavor profile, and it was hard to get out of the squeeze bottle. It may not be authentic, but I liked that the sandwich was on Texas toast — I hate flimsy buns that get overwhelemed by the meat. Fries were excellent. I was put off by the fact that they charged $ 2.50/can for Coke, which is ridiculous. In short, good food, but a little pricey for what you get.

When we stopped in for lunch, they were out of pulled pork. Disappointing because that’s our main BBQ crush. Forced out of our comfort zone, we tried the dirty wings, ribs, pulled chicken, even a burger. Everything was really, really good. The dirty wings are truly outstanding — smoked, fried, and glazed with a not-to-sweet sauce with a latent heat that builds as you go. The ribs were declared perhaps the best ever. Everything was so wonderfully smoky that even my daughter thought her burger had picked up the flavor, and benefited from it. Sides we tried were fries, onion rings, and potato salad — all as good as the ‘q. There’s only one sauce on the table, but that’s OK. It’s house-made and pleased everybody. Service was attentive and efficient. Our table was cleaned as we went and our drinks never ran dry. Not dirt cheap, but super value.

Great BBQ. The must have item is definitely the smoked chicken wings. they were off the charts. Get the smoked wing meal and ask for a side of dirty wing sauce for dipping.

Flavors is great. I went here last night with some friends at 10 pm(they’re open until 1:30 am! great for late night grubs). I got the brisket sandwich with potato salad and it was delicious. I’m a really healthy eater usually so the meat had a little more fat on it than I would have liked, but I think that’s kind of the point of bbq. My friends got the dirty wings, the pulled chicken sandwich, and the ribs and all gave rave reviews. I tried the ribs and they were so so good. Will definitely be coming back. Oh and the waitress was a sweetheart, she made the experience very pleasant.

I went to Flavors after the Riverfront Times named their smoked chicken wings one of St. Louis’ ten best dishes of 2010. We got there about 7PM on New Year’s Eve to find them setting up for a private party. And the electricity had unaccountably gone off part of the afternoon. At another African-American place, they might have rolled their eyes at two gay white boys bothering them when they had stuff to do, but not here. We were welcomed to seats at the bar where Alicia and all the staff made us feel right at home. The wings were amazing, fall apart tender and they didn’t need the squeeze bottle of BBQ sauce that came with. The sweet potato fries were out of this world. My hubbie’s spare ribs were a bit fatty and stringy and my side of geen beans and turkey was a bit sweet for my taste. Love the African-American vibe at the place. Alicia behind the bar was a doll, telling us all kinds of things that would keep us busy during our weekend in St. Louis. I’d recommend this place to anybody.

Flavor’s threw Pappy’s off it’s bbq pedestal. The food was honestly the best bbq I think I may have ever had. Wings, beef brisket, baby back ribs, and smoked turkey were overwhelmingly tasty with sides of tomato and cucumber salad, fries, onion rings, and green beans to top it off. Delicious bbq sauce as well. Bill, the interesting and friendly owner, came out to check on us and share stories which further escalated our experience. He truly put his heart into his recipes. What a labor of love! I can’t wait to go back.

I ordered the pulled chicken sandwich and my boyfriend got the ribs. Great, amazing BBQ. They make their own BBQ sauce and I loved it. We went on Friday for dinner and the place was full of people, but we still got quick service. Everyone in the place was having a good time, fun atmosphere. We’ll be back!

My co-workers and I went here for lunch today hoping for some good BBQ without the Pappy’s wait. Unfortunately, we ended up being there for an hour and a half. When we arrived, there was only 5 other people in the restaurant, but it still took about ten minutes to get our drinks out to us after we ordered them. Our waitress was very nice, but not the most competent. Also, we were forced to watch TMZ and Access Hollywood throughout our meal… looking at paparazzi pictures of the latest fat celebs and listening to Mel Gibson verbally abuse his girlfriend isn’t very appetizing. For food, I started with the fried pickles. They were rather tangy, but pretty good. After that I got the pulled chicken sandwich on Texas toast with a side of fries. The meat was pretty good, but not very juicy, and the fries were good. Their signature BBQ sauce was pretty blah though. It was extremely runny for a BBQ sauce and the toast soaked up all of its flavor. In the end, the price was decent, but the wait was a bit ridiculous, especially for the quality. I don’t think I will be returning.

This place needs to get the kinks worked out, but when they do, it should be good. We arrived around 9:30ish on a Friday. The hours say they are open until 1:30am but we were definitely their last customers. They didn’t have any soda or liquor. They were waiting on their liquor license and the soda machine wasn’t connected yet. There were TV’s everywhere playing the Cardinal game. The place was very clean, and new. Upon entering the dining room from the bar, you can see into the kitchen. It was spotless. We ordered the pulled pork and pork ribs. They were out of the pulled pork, so they subbed smoked wings instead. The food was good. It tasted like it was made with care. It can’t shake a stick to Pappy’s but it is good que and it was cheap. $ 17 plus tip for everything. The food will bring me back to see if they can fix the other issues. The server was a bit quirky, but the guys from the kitchen kept coming out to ask how the meal was… seemingly proud of their cooking. Nice touch.

We ate here as a recommendation from a co-worker and could not have been more pleasantly surprised. This restaurant has just opened, but they certainly don’t seem to be having any growing pains. The food was delicious and the service was out of this world(it was also not very busy, but we were having an early lunch and I’m not sure the word is out there yet… good for us!) I had the pulled pork dinner which came on Texas toast with two sides — it was EIGHT dollars. SUCH a deal. You can’t even eat a Bread Co. for that kind of money any more and you get PLENTY to eat. I’m not a huge fan of smoky, sweet barbeque sauces, but theirs paired REALLY well with the pulled pork and was also delightful. I got fries as one of my sides and OHMYDEARLORD, they were incredible. Thank God for large(un-healthy) portions of fried car Not a barbeque fan? Not a problem. They have a really extensive menu with salads, wraps, sandwiches and appetizers that aren’t of the barbeque persuasion. At this point they do not have their bar up and running yet, but eventually will have a full bar which looked like a great place to drop in and have a beer. I’m a huge fan of all of the businesses and restaurants in The Grove and I think this place is a great fit. We will definitely be back.

Love the que! Quite a variety of items. From Loin back and Spare Ribs to Ribtips and Tri Tips. Some different side dishes-Mostcacolli, Steam grilled Broccoli and Fried Pickles. Only been open a few days-since June 2, but really seemed to have spent some time working on their BBQ Recipes. A nice intimate kind of place-Corner Bar and grill with some Que-They told me that they hope to get their liquor license on the 10th or 11th of June. I can’t wait to get back and get some beer and BBQ.
