Elayna’s

My fiancée gets his hair cuts from Patrice at Elayna’s, and I admit, I think she does an excellent job 98% of the time — once in a blue moon, she misses a piece here and there. But who doesn’t? Patrice is a great option for men’s hair cuts.
However, my own experiences at Elayna’s have been varied. They’re a mom and pop hair salon, unpretentious, yet still put-​together and clean. Their prices are competitive, and for me, that was the draw.
Elayna herself did my first color and cut, and I was pretty pleased — I would give the cut/​color a 4 out of 5. Nothing amazing, the blonde was cool-​toned and light, but the cut was very good.
Some hair salons, the staff talk amongst themselves while doing your hair. Some salons have their staff focus on talking with their clients. Elayna’s is the former. Not a bad thing, just a thing.
The final time I visited Elayna’s for a last-​minute cut/​color, I had a different stylist who unfortunately was pretty bad. She didn’t talk with me through the appointment, looked like she was less than pleased to be there, seemed distracted, and the color was sub-​par upon completion. When I told her (very nicely, mind you) it wasn’t what I wanted, that I wanted more dimension and texture in the color (which I explained from the get-​go), she got immediately quiet and defensive. She even told another staff member what was going on in an «OMG, this client is ruining my life» tone, and when I tried to make a joke about it (nicely!), she scoffed. She sort-​of fixed it, but her attitude made me very uncomfortable.
I agree with the other reviewer, my 1 experience with a bikini wax was SUPER painful. In comparison to other waxings, it was the most painful I’ve ever had.
So, 4 stars for my fiancée’s hair cuts, 4 stars to Elayna’s cut/​color, and 1 star for my last experience.
Be careful who you see, otherwise, this salon is a solid B in my book.

While the overall atmosphere of Elayna’s is not that bad and I’ve gotten a decent hair cut there, stay away from any waxing service. I had the worst experience there last week and will never go back. The esthetician was horrible!
