Lunch here was fantastic. I had a 4 hour layover at the airport and decided to get a cheap $ 15 rental car and roam around a bit. Got a haircut at Great Clips and went searching for some good Indian food! It was great. All vegetarian, try the chaats, samosas, and pakoras.

Really liked this place. Unfortunately it is closed. They have another location on the loop if you want to try their food. I haven’t been to the other location yet but they say it is the same food on their website.

Tasty vegetarian Indian buffet. Friendly owners and a pleasant restaurant. However, they are closing May 12, 2014 and moving to a new location. The photo has a note from the owner inviting you to his new location at 6101 Delmar(Loop).

Was very impressed with the lunch buffet. Smaller selection than most Indian buffets, but the quality is extremely high.

Holy schneikes!!! I am a recent convert to Indian food and really hadn’t been anywhere other than Taj since discovering how much I like the stuff. I know this is odd but they are local and convenient and somehow I hadn’t branched out until the wife suggested we try Gokul. Equally odd is the fact that I am far from being a vegetarian but somehow my favorite Indian dishes are all vegetarian. I really, really enjoyed this place. Everything was freshly prepared and extremely flavorful. The woman running the front of the house was incredibly warm and inviting and took a fair amount of time to explain her restaurant and their offerings to us… something I always appreciate! Prices are very reasonable and not a bad bite on the entire buffet. I will most certainly be back!

Had lunch here with the Husband yesterday. Have been wanting to try this place for awhile, but it’s by my office and there’s not a snowballs chance in Hell that anyone I work with would agree to eat lunch here. Their loss, for sure! They have a vegetarian lunch buffet for only $ 7.99! Lots of selection including salad, appetizers, main courses, and desserts. The lady who runs the place is super-nice. When I told her it was my first time there, she proceeded to whip up a couple of their menu item appetizers using the buffet ingredients. OMG were they good, and I never would have thought of putting those things together myself. I always wonder when I am at foreign food buffets if people are giggling at me because I’m not eating the food in the right combinations or something. Probably so, but who cares?! Their naan is also noteworthy. It is soft on the inside with a crispy outside and SOO delicious. I asked the lady why theirs is so good and she said it was because they make it vegetarian. It’s ridiculous how much I like meat, so the fact that I am into this vegetarian place should speak volumes about how tasty the food is. Seriously, you have to try this place. And tell the lady that you are new so she will whip up the appetizers for you. She is so nice she probably would anyway, even if she recognizes you as a regular.

I’m not sure why gokul has such high ratings. It’s ok, the people are friendly, and they have a buffet for dinner, which is a plus, but house of India is much better.

My family and I love going to Gokul quite regularly, especially for their vegan buffet(trust me – you won’t miss the milk!). The selection is always huge and the food is very fresh, including an entire half of the buffet filled with chutneys and salads. One of my favourite dishes is the Saag Paneer and there is a soup on there most days with black beans and cinnamon that is not to be missed. The vegetable korma made with soymilk on vegan night is quite yummy too. They try to have different veggie items, to keep things interesting. As we’re eating, the waitstaff will often bring a basket of fresh naan to the table. They also have had a Valentine’s day special where I got a chance to try this drink called a «faluda.» Really different and exotic!

OMG. Omg! My new favorite Indian restaurant!!! Yes, I said it. I LOVETHISPLACE. So my friend and I drove past the other branch on Delmar a few days ago, and planned on trying it sometime soon. However, earlier today I was in the Maryland Heights area for work and was craving some Indian food for lunch. I pulled out my good old Unilocal app and was excited to find that a Gokul Snacks & Sweets was only a mile away. I got there in time for the lunch buffet. Here’s the scoop: Lunch buffet is from 11:30am — 3pm. $ 7.99 Dinner buffet is from 3pm-close. $ 9.99 This place is 100% vegetarian, and serves vegan food on the weekend. Pricing is the same on the weekend(I think it’s $ 9.99, but it could been a bit more-don’t quote me on that). They have a wider food selection on the weekend. The only differences between this branch and the one on Delmar is that the Delmar one is Kosher in addition to being vegetarian, and is a bit pricier. Now, on to the food! It was nothing short of amazing. I mean, seriously. The BEST vegetable korma I ever had. That was my favorite item in the buffet. I was really in the mood for some chicken tikka masala, but the paneer tikka masala really hit the spot well. What I found interesting was that the daal makhni(creamed lentils) was not really that creamy, but still tasted very good. The aloo zucchini was good as well. I love their naan! Tasted very buttery, but it wasn’t oily at all. It worked so well with the paneer tikka masala. It was all so good that I managed to gobble down two plates all by myself. For dessert, I had the rice pudding, which was not overly sweet or thick/heavy. The gulab jamun are bite size and are another good option for desert. DEFINITELY give this place a try if you like Indian food, whether you’re a vegetarian or not. Meat lovers, you won’t be disappointed, I promise. Happy eating!

My husband and I have gone to Gokul on Page for a few years now, but for the past year we’ve primarily ordered takeout. That’s where this establishment shoots itself in the foot — BIGTIME. Their customer service for takeout orders completely cancels out the deliciousness of their food(hence the two-star rating). It started with three bad experiences related to wait time. Two of those three times I had ordered online, via Gokul’s website. And when I or my husband arrived to pick up our order, we either had to wait over 15 minutes for the order or Gokul staff never received it at all, which caused a wait time of 40 minutes and resulted in a frustrated husband who gave up altogether on dinner that night. The third time I chose to call in because their website proved unreliable. But even then when I arrived to pick up my food, it was not ready. I complained to the woman behind the counter about the recurring issue. She was apologetic as well as argumentative, providing excuses for the delays. Lastly and most aggravating, the staff at Gokul on Page outright LIES to you, specifically when you request extra chutney in your takeout order. This has been our experience all the time and it is the very reason I’m writing this critical review. I now open my bag to verify they included extra chutney and have caught them in the lie again and again. My husband goes off their word only to be angry when he gets home. I simply cannot comprehend the reason for such a lie. If they want me to pay extra for my request, they should ask. But lying about 20 cents worth of chutney is reputational suicide! So, in sum, while the food is great, the POOR, UNTRUSTWORTHYCUSTOMERSERVICE makes me lose my appetite.

Yum! The vegan naan is awesome… and even my husband who can have dairy loves the vegan buffet. Also, the service here is awesome. We went in around 3(after lunch and before dinner) and they made us fresh naan and made sure that the buffet was fresh. We will be going back as many Mondays as possible.

My wife talked me into going. She had a good friend in town who was a vegetarian. Now I consider myself to be a meat eater extraordinaire, so I was not looking forward to going here. But you know what they say«happy wife… happy life». When we arrive it is a small place in a small strip mall type building. I went there not expecting to be impressed. The night we went they had a vegetarian buffet. The food was outstanding, very flavorful. And the nan was great. The biggest compliment I can give is that I would definitely go back.

In honor of my ROTD yesterday I think I should update my review to add that I tried their vegan buffet last Monday and it was pretty dang good. I really had no idea what to expect from it. Vegan food to me sounds like an oxymoron since I consider animal products to be food, and from a vegan perspective, it’s not food. LOL. But that aside, I am open-minded when it comes to trying new cuisine and since I positively adore their vegetarian buffet, I thought I’d give the vegan buffet a shot. Elle P. went with me and so did Sean H. but he pretty much just watched us eat because Indian food alone is pretty gross to him, Indian food + vegetarian alone is extra gross to him, and VEGAN Indian food? Let’s not even go there, lol. My favorite dish was still the yellow korma stuff with the cashews in it, and my least favorite dish was the spinach saag. I think they had to use some kind of fake cream stuff to make the saag or maybe it was some soy based thing… I dunno. It was just nasty. I took one bite and nearly barfed. I positively cannot stand the flavor of whatever was in that saag. I should have asked the owner so I know to avoid whatever that ingredient is. It has a distinctive milky flavor but it’s not really milk. Ugh. But the korma was SO good. Also I tried about 3 – 4 other dishes with mostly beans and potatoes as the main ingredient and it was sooooo tasty. For dessert I noticed they had«cream of wheat» according to the sign. I tried some and it was so tasty! More like a cake than cream of wheat. A little dry, but still so good. Cinnamon was the predominant flavor in this dessert. So satisfying and I didn’t feel quite as guilty later. I also was not really sick the next day which might have been a coincidence as I pretty much ate nothing apart from the buffet that day, but maybe it was due to the lack of cream. I rarely get ill the next day from their vegetarian buffet alone, though. Haveli’s food makes me sick more often(I still love it though) but that would probably be due to the amount of spice they put in compared w/Gokul. The vegan buffet was noticeably LESS spicier IMHO than the normal buffet.

We came here after a morning of rock climbing nearby on a Saturday, the buffet certainly hit the spot after a fun few hours of climbing. We really enjoyed the all vegetarian buffet. Every dish we had were superbly flavorful and not too spicy. The mini dosai’s were just the right size allowing you to eat other things too. The paneer was firm on the outside and tender on the inside! Great vegetarian place! Will be back again!

Vegetarians and Indian food lovers rejoice! I came here for their lunch buffet, on the recommendation of a friend who really knows his Indian food. I was a bit skeptical(I’m one of those people who always, always orders chicken tikka masala at Indian restaurants and I am not ashamed), but the food completely blew me away. Pro-tip: try the food that you’ve never heard of before. Sure, their paneer tikka masala is tasty, and their veggie korma is good, but the best stuff at the buffet were the other things. There were three dals available and all of them were fantastic. There were also a few chickpea dishes which were absolutely delicious. Being adventurous at this place will reward you, I promise. At $ 8, the lunch buffet is also a great deal. They have a huge selection, there were at least 10 main dish options and an entire buffet cart with just sauces and condiments. You won’t miss the meat at all.

LOVELOVELOVE! It is hard to find a place that can make indian tea… not here! So yummy. The food was un-matchable by other indian places I have visited. The sampler(not the real name, but what I will call it) was amazing. Way too much food for one person. I would love to go on a day that the buffet was up and running just to try more options.

My friend and I just happened to find this place while picking up groceries at the Indian store across the street. I was highly disappointed, initially, when I learned this place was vegetarian(I am a total carnivore!). I then saw that they served Samosa chaat and I was suddenly super excited. The samosa chaat here is amazing and only $ 6.99! I also tried the aloo and gobi dish which wasn’t anything to write home about and was a little expensive for the amount of food you receive. You have to go out and try the Samosa Chaat!

I love this place. Usually, I get Chaat there — indian snack foods that make my heart sing! I love getting the Dahi Puri, Bhel Puri, and the Samosa Chaat. :) They’re my favorites. They also have a buffet — which tends to be good, but sometimes they don’t always have enough food. Check first before eating. The service is somewhat slow — the main reason it didn’t get 5 stars but all in all it’s a great place for delicious food. :) Be ware, it’s easy to miss when you’re driving… so take careful notice.

I’ve been wanting to try Gokul for awhile now, seeing the glowing reviews. Also being that I’m a vegetarian and an all vegetarian place is hard to find. We arrived right when it opened, which had its pros and cons. All fresh food, but nothing was labeled and it wasn’t all out yet. We might’ve come a little later had we known, but I assumed it opened at 11 when really it’s 11:30. Anyhow, we got right on the buffet. This is the biggest Indian buffet I’ve seen in STL, with a huge amount of options. They had palak paneer, which was easy to recognize, and vegetable korma. Lots of other sauces and delicacies. I liked those a lot, and the dal was the perfect consistency and spice. The naan was a little different than others I’ve experienced: less fluffy, more chewy, and almost tasted liked it was brushed with a flavored oil. It was good and I definitely consumed enough to make this judgment! Our water glasses were kept filled, though my sister had to ask for a refill on her diet coke. The service was fine, but not extremely friendly. I wanted to ask what a couple things were but didn’t because of this. I definitely liked it and look forward to going back. I like that they rotate items — I have gotten a little bored of the other Indian/Asian buffet(Everest) that I like going because they never change items.

I confess… I’m not a vegetarian, not even a closet vegetarian. While I thought the buffet was good, I felt like something was missing… namely meat(but i can’t judge a vegan restaurant on that now can I). Hence, this review is more targeted at the sweets Gokul sells by the box at the table inside the entrance. I can’t exactly keep my hands off the Mango Burfi!!! You get about eight chunks of them in a plastic container.(I think they sell by pound and by half pound) It was so rich and delicious! If you like mango flavors and sweets in a solid form, you have got to buy a box and try it out yourself.
