On a recent trip to St. Louis, I was told I needed to try Imo’s pizza. And I was also warned that I’d either love it or hate it! I figured it was worth the try. All in all I liked it and am glad I ordered it. They delivered to my hotel which was very helpful(not to my room, had to meet them in the lobby) and it was delivered in about 45 minutes. The online ordering system was simple and easy to use. Crust: I thought it was fine. I normally like a thicker crust, but decided to get it the traditional way with the ultra thin crust. Toppings: Very tasty. The sausage was good and for some reason the red onion stands out too. Provel Cheese: This was definitely different! Tasted like a mix of Velveeta and other cheeses, with a creamy consistency to it. I liked it, but I did hit a limit!(= I think you need to try it once and make your own opinion. It’s an iconic St. Louis food, worth the try!

This is the product that carved my understanding of what pizza is intended to be. I grew up on Imo’s. Its not until my late 40’s that I am finding out on this visit that each franchise takes license with the product. There are slight variations in the product, particularly the sauce. That being said, I found this location to be an adequate representation of what Imo’s was intended to be, but not quite the transitive journey to perfection of the Hanley Rd location. Imo’s signature is its thin and incredibly crispy crust. Classic. However, I’ve always been a fan of their sausage. I’m not sure if its a proprietary product, but I find it unequaled in pizza places at this price point.

Reviewing Imo’s is nearly impossible. It’s like reviewing music or books or wine… it all depends on your taste. If you’re not from Saint Louis, you’ve at least got to try Imo’s once because it is the quintessential Saint Louis-style pizza. If you’re utterly unfamiliar with it, it goes something like this: paper-thin crust, a purposefully scanty amount of sauce, provel cheese(no, not provolone… proVEL…it’s a very soft, very creamy, very greasy cheese), and a collection of your choice of toppings all sliced square-cut style. Bottom line: you’re either going to like it or you’re not. It’s unlike any pizza I’ve had anywhere else in the country(and I’ve had a lot of pizza) so you just have to try it for yourself. That all being said, I’m giving this particular Imo’s store 4 stars because they are clean, fast, and very, very friendly.

Nothing against the business or delivery but really? Since when a drool of cheese on unleavened cardboard considered food? It looks and tastes like a failed baked canapé from the era of formica and carpets.

I was in St. Louis for a conference and one of my friends insisted that we had to try St. Louis pizza. It was interesting. The crust is cracker thin, thin layer of sauce, and they used provel cheese instead of more traditional fare. The pizza was ok(My favorite is deep dish). I also got a huge salad that was loaded with too much cheese.

Italian food, made expertly by a group of people who are decidely Eastern Bloc… who would’ve thunk it. The same people that worked here when I was growing up, and when I got out of HS10 years ago… still working there now… what’s up Boris! It’s comfort food, to the nth degree. Loaded up with meat, cheese, and light on sauce… cracker thin crust? Already… I was in St. Louis the week before last, and my first thought(after«Where is the rental car ctr?»)…Imo’s! Not, let me check in with my kinfolk. Not, it’s only 10:30am, and therefore too early for pizza. Nope… none of those thoughts came into play. After getting ahold of that first square, I honestly considered moving back to St. Louis… just for a split second. Seriously, it’s good eats… and they have coupons, fast delivery(limited area), and excellent service. Love it, man!

Great Food, Great Service, I would highly recommend to anyone who loves Imos pizza. Always helpful, and they add coupons onto the order without even asking.

After being snowed in and deathly ill for almost a week, I figured now was the perfect opportunity to try Imo’s. For one, a week of time inside meant a LOT of hours wasted on Unilocal perusing the mystery that is provel cheese. Secondly, being heavily congested still, I figured any aversion to provel would be slightly dampered by the fact that I cannot taste or smell anything. Post-flu appetite would also compensate for any provel pitfalls. First of all, the service was great. The guy on the phone was patient and got me a better deal than what I expected. They actually had coupons for the single person. In that, I mean most pizza places can get you a deal if you’re ordering 3 large pizzas. Not so much if you’re just one person ordering the smallest one they have. So it was reasonably priced with the coupon. I expect that it would be a little less, though, since thin-crust pizza is less substantial than normal pizza. They did charge a delivery fee, which sucks, but is pretty standard around here. Despite the snow and what is sure to be a football Sunday rush, the guy got here within 30 minutes. My strategy going in was to try half the pizza just cheese, how I would normally get one, but to calm what I was expecting to be a taste bud disaster with strong-tasting toppings on the other half. Success. When I opened the pizza box, I seriously, not joking, gasped and recoiled. It looked like somebody had thrown up in the box. I swear to God. As someone who cares almost in no way what their food looks like, I dug in. Honestly? The first bite was gross. Too much sauce, which tasted like sweet tomato paste. And the cheese… It tasted like melted white American that had been left at room temperature and then reheated in a microwave. But then I kept eating it. And eating it. It was actually very comforting, and I ate the whole pizza in one sitting. Yeah. Guess that solves the mystery of why I’m single. So, bottom line is, you gotta try Imo’s. If you’re craving pizza, this isn’t really gonna do it for you. But if you’re in the mood for something a little different, this is it. Don’t get why people complain about the crust– it’s thin pizza, for God’s sake! And the provel really grows on you. Sprinkle a little oregano on top and this is a great snack. I would classify Imo’s as St. Louis comfort food

This Imo’s location is great! My office will order in for lunch from time to time and this location is always willing to drive back to our entrance(I work in a big government building and my office is way in the back)! They also seem to have better deals than most other Imo’s. I don’t think they charge for delivery, so be sure to tip well… the delivery man is always super appreciative! For my Imo’s craving, I call this location for great pizza that’s delivered hot and always within a half hour. ahhh today is a good day.

I like Imo’s. I’m not from St. Louis, so I could not have it every time I have pizza. The pizza is classic St. Louis style… thin, cracker crust, a thin layer of sauce, provel cheese, and whatever else you’d like on top. I usually go for a pizza with bacon, since they use whole strips of bacon. The garlic cheese bread makes for a nice pairing, since the crust is so thin. I like the wings, but the sauce is a little warm for me. I’d like to see them us a medium and a hot sauce. This particular Imo’s is decent. I’ve had better, but they put out a decent pie. I have had some bad interactions with the person taking my order, but it happens when you are a local chain like that. Tip: Look for coupons. Online, in the paper, or mailers. Otherwise, it might be a bit expensive for what you are getting.
