This is my third or forth trip to Mike Shannon’s. The steaks have always been flavorful and tender and the baked potato was well prepared. I was very sad to learn that they are closing the downtown location. The bartender indicated they have other locations and are focusing on a franchisable opportunity. I wish them luck but will miss the downtown location. As others have mentioned this is a veritable treasure trove of Cardinal memorabilia.

Sad to see this place close but the food is incredibly average for the price. No people, Ballpark Village is not to blame for the closure. This restaurant has so much more potential but when you hand your customers Scallops with Angel Hair pasta that: a) isn’t angel hair pasta but thicker like spaghetti b) 4 scallops that are educated guess U20’ish not even a minimum U10 c) hard as a rock bacon garnish All for $ 32 for the dish, you’re not setting yourself up to make it. I don’t know it could have been so much more. Beautiful place that’s falling victim to less and less people coming downtown with less and less $ to spend. STL is struggling, we need a boost, a major one Nashville style. Unfortunately you have dopey hopeless leaders who have no interest in that. God I wish I could run this city for a few weeks, I have so many ideas and a fresh outside perspective(I moved here 2 years ago). Anyway, sorry for the rant. This city deserves greatness, it’s beautiful once you peel away the shuttered storefronts and boarded up windows.

I came here with a co-worker hoping to have a good steak dinner. Given the priciness of the restaurant, I assumed I could get a good steak here. Unfortunately, everything we ordered was a disappointment. The steak was overdone. the sides were just ok. The service was not very attentive, despite the restaurant being mostly empty. The ambiance of the restaurant was typical steakhouse style, right down to the wine display. It was a total disappointment and I thought everything was under-seasoned. Even despite the food being underwhelming, the service was definitely not worth the price we paid for the meal. I’ll be sure not to hold future business meetings here.

This is a very nice restaurant. Upscale but not«stuffy» just an enjoyable time. We went there before a Cardinals game, but were served good food in a timely manner. Everyone at our table had good food and fun. Service was wonderful also. Keep up the good work!

Excellent Service! Took the wife here and our server Brandi was professional and very helpful. I would highly recommend this to a friend ans they also give a very good military discount.

This was truly a memorable experience! I attended an anniversary party hosted by my sister-in-law who rented the«Hall of Fame» room for some 35 of us on 10÷17÷15. The meal was impeccable! We had a choice of an 8 oz. Filet Mignon(I had this and it was so tender) or a large succulent marinated chicken breast, with a choice of Caesar or their specialty House Salad with the toasted Parmesan; Steamed Asparagus & Potato Purée! Everything was amazing & the servers were very friendly! The hostess that evening(I can’t remember her name) Es on her game; she took care of everything we needed. Even the manager came to all of us and asked how everything was & if we needed anything. We truly had a wonderful time & I would DEFINITELY recommend this restaurant!

Place is not good. Appetizers were fair at best, menu very limited, cowboy steak was not good, sided very bland tasting and deserts not worth the calories. The waiter apparently does not like his job and shows it.

This place has a great spot in the city but the food is not that great. We recently dined here on a Monday night so we could watch football and have a great dinner. We ordered prime rib and a ribeye. The prime rib was served warm if that and had a strange herb flavor that I didn’t like. The steak and no flavor at all and was not even hot. We sent the food back and it came out the same except the steak was a bit burnt on the top not seared. There is no way that this place can be known for steaks. They are only getting business because of the name and location. To many great steak places to be ripped off by this place. Not to mention that they did nothing to ensure we came back. No credit, no free dessert NOTHING. The only way I would come back here would be for drinks pregame.

Sophisticated ambiance and excellent service. We sat at the bar and had cocktails and appetizers. Drinks were great. So nice to be served in a real glass not plastic which seems to be the norm in St Louis. The card cake was amazing as were the fries and calamari. Then we decided on dessert. The peach cobbler was a complete disappointment and lowered my rating. Underdone peaches and hard as a rock biscuit king of thing.

Overall experience was good. Customer service was phenomenal. The food on the other hand was a bit dry. The steak was over cooked and the fish was not fresh. The drinks were watered down and I could of used about 5 more.

Because a friend’s small birthday gathering was hosted at this location, I went to show my support. Overall, the food was good. I especially enjoyed the crab cakes, which were nicely prepared and seemed very fresh for the Midwest. The restaurant was attractively decorated, and the location offers accessibility to other downtown locations. Parking was an absolute nightmare, however, with no guidance or obvious direction for valet or self parking. Granted, this is a busy downtown location, but the stress of trying to avoid being killed by the drunk drivers, speeding taxis, or lumbering charter busses simply does not promote an enjoyable experience for me. If this restaurant was more accessible, I might willingly elect to go here even though it is relatively expensive compared to other nice restaurants with good food. Yet with only good — not great — food to be found here, I’ll only pass through these doors for to offer mandatory attendance at parties and other special events.

Very nice establishment with great food. I had the filet and my quest had the prime rib, both were prepared as ordered. The waiter was very helpful in recommending selections, very polite, and always kept an eye on us to see if we needed drink refills. I was impressed with the amount of baseball paraphernalia, it was neat to see all the items. I would recommend this place to someone looking for a good dinner. I gave four stars because it was a very pricey restaurant when comparing it to similar establishments I’ve attended. Overall, great place.

Loved it! Wonderful classy, masculine, sporty atmosphere. We walked in at ten til 9:00 in Cardinals jerseys and sweaty from a ball game with temps close to 100 degrees. The hostess didn’t blink an eye. She seated us without question or attitude. Service was excellent from the constant water refills, to a quick server, to management checking on us twice. It was fun to listen to Mike Shannon himself interviewing Cardinals players in the corner as we ate. Looking for a very elegant dinner? This is a great place. Wander in after a game, they’ll take you too. Very pricey, but worth it.

Way to pricey for overcooked steaks and snotty service. Charley Gittos is better on all counts.

I’ve had some ‘just ok’ food here, but this time the service, and food were both fantastic! We had a coupon so for lunch ended up getting the $ 25 filet, along with a couple of scallops on the side. Both got the caesar salad to start. The salads were very fresh, great lettuce mixture and fresh cheese. The dressing was phenomenal. Both steaks were cooked perfect, the asparagus on the side was crisp yet cooked through, and the potatoes creamy as a perfect accompaniment. I’m spoiled, so added two blackened scallops on the side(one which was stolen by the Mrs.) Scallops were perfectly seasoned and cooked. I would absolutely come back here for a good steak. I’ve had sandwiches at lunch here that were just average, but for $ 25 for a filet, potatoes, asparagus, and salad included, you really can’t beat it.

I travel to St. Louis at least 2 times per for buisness. I try to make a trip to Mike Shannon’s at least once per trip. I love this place! I am a very big fan of the great game of baseball and this place holds a memorabilia collection that is on display that is second to none! If you enjoy that sort of thing then it is worth a trip here even if it is just to grab a drink at the bar. My last trip here was with a larger group of about 9. The serve and the food was great as always! We ordered for the table: Spiced Jumbo Shrimp, Seasonal Crab, Chilled Baby Lobster, Oysters, Ceviche as starters… awesome! We also ordered some additional Jumbo Shrimp with the Bloody Mary Coctail sauce. I ordered an Iceberg Blue Cheese salad… you cant go wrong with that… Fir dinner I had a perfectly done 18 ounce bone in Ribeye. We ordered way too many sides… as always… Creamed Spinach, Asparagus, Mushrooms, Fries, Blue Cheese Gratin… All delicious!!! I can not wait to make it there again on my next trip!

We were here after an afternoon game on Labor Day. One block from Busch Stadium and filled with baseball memorabilia(especially the tall columns that serve as glass cases for an enormous collection of autographed baseballs). The restaurant was quiet and upscale, and, in fact, there were two Cardinals pitcher dining the night we were there. Jim’s steak was delicious, and I had the grilled trout, which was also very tasty and fresh. Our waiter was friendly, and served us quickly and efficiently. The wine list was nice and varied, and, though pricey, it was easy to find selections we liked. The waited also did a great job of suggesting wines to pair with our entrees. It’s not a cheap dinner, but it’s worth it for the ambiance and service. Dress code is relaxed to accommodate after-game clientele. And you never know who you’ll see …

Food was great, service was great… Couldn’t ask for a better night. Ordered 2 bottles of wine and the fried raviolis were a must… a must visit eatery for all… Memorabilia for the cardinal fan all around. Waiter Paul was exceptional…
