Pomme Café has that nice euro-bistro vibe that is hard to find in St. Louis. The trout almandine is really good!

My favorite breakfast place and comfortable stop by for a glass of wine. Always super attendants there — Will Ryan is my fave as is DJ, Adam, Mark, Maurice, Jeff and Sarah(mgr) .Try the sole almondine or the BLT with smoked salmon If you are in real estate or an attorney, this is the power place in the morning, but soooo casual. If the owner Brian is in the kitchen, you are in for a treat as he knows his stuff

I came for dinner and it was amazing. It kind of has a Euro bistro vibe, which I really like. Additionally, they had really good live music. My date and I like the wine flight and will definitely be returning to Pomme Café. I work in Clayton and the next time I go out for a power lunch I will definitely suggest this place to my coworkers.

Went here for dinner the other day and was not super impressed. Here is what we ordered… a). Pinot Gris b). Cheese plate(blue cheese, brie and goat) c). Ceasar salad and French Onion Soup d). Eggplant Parm and Gnocchi The Pinot Gris, was a $ 30 bottle from the Wilammette valley. The funny thing about this was after we ordered it, I could see them scrambling to find it. I almost thought they were going to come back and tell me they ran out. It did take a while for them to come with our wine. Part b). the cheese plate was A-OK. I liked the blue cheese and goat cheese, but I found that there was hardly any brie for two people. What’s up with that? Also, the toast pieces were a little oily, distracted from the cheese flavor and there should have been some variety. For part c). the Ceasar salad was pretty bad. They said they make their own dressing, but I could barely taste it on the lettuce. I was also not a fan of the shredded cheese on there. It should be shaved IMO. The French Onion soup, however, was solid. In fact it is truly vegetarian. So that’s a plus! Part d). the main entrees were both just OK. I did not love my Gnocchi and am sure I have had better. Even I prefer the Gnocchi at Mad Tomato down the street. Something about the flavor of the Gnocchi was off. The veggies that came with the dish were nice though. The Eggplant parmesean was pretty bad. The eggplant was tough to eat and the tomato used was meh. Overall the dish lacked excitement and I did not understand the green beans and potatoes that it came with. The potatoes by the way were very bland and boring. There were some off things about their service. Besides taking a while to bring out our wine. They took forever to bring out the cheese plate and then forgot to bring us plates for it. Then since we were sitting very close to the door we noticed a lot of people come in and not be seated right away when there were open tables. On top of that, when people would come in the freezing air would blow our way. BRR! I don’t think our waitress ever came by to refill our wine glasses, but I think I was able to manage that one. However, she was almost non-existent the entire dinner, which I didn’t like. Overall, the French Onion soup, wine and the cheese plate were good, but nothing else really was too exciting!

went here for an early dinner/late lunch one Sunday and it was a delight. All the food was very fresh and well-prepared and well-seasoned. I had a salade nicoise. I kind of wish it had more tuna but it was very, very good. It’s a bit pricey, but that’s what you get in downtown Clayton!

I went to Pomme this week for a late brunch… which is basically lunch… but brunch sounds more fun :) Pomme is a very cute street-side café. You have the option to sit outside(weather permitting) or take a seat inside. They also have a bar to sit at for you solo eaters out there. Before I go any further, I must say how kind the staff is/was to me. I asked if there was any way they could give me quarters back for a debit transaction. There was not anyway this was possible. I figured as much but thought it couldn’t hurt to ask… I already got one parking ticket this month and didn’t need another. One of the fellas opened up his wallet and lent me four quarters. I told him I would pay him back on the tip but he still did the action out of good faith. PROMOTETHISMAN! Getting to the meal… my party had the perfect window seat and great waiter service. I ordered the BLT. I love BLTs and fancy trying them at many locations. Pomme definitely gets a big thumbs up on this one. They put plenty of bacon, tomato, and lettuce between cuban bread. They did not shy away from putting too much bacon on. YOUNEVERCAN! There was enough bacon to sink your teeth into the savory meat. It was perfect. They took a very traditional approach and executed it flawlessly. The chips that came with it were very good as well. They weren’t house made but might as well had been. Part way through our meal, the chef came around and asked us how everything was. Pretty legit. Not many places more or less cafes have a chef come around and ask you how everything tastes. This place is not overpriced either. Everything is very reasonable. Everyone else in my party was satisfied, too. I will come back here for sure. I believe at dinner time they open up more of the restaurant to accommodate more guests but I’m not positive. I hope you enjoy your visit as much as I did.

I went for dinner last night with family. We were seated promptly but it took over 5 minutes for our waitress to say hi and take our drink order. She always seemed in a hurry to talk to us. The place seemed understaffed. I ordered the filet mignon. It was cooked perfectly(medium was actually pink). The sides were unassuming. A side of broccoli that I didn’t think was seasoned in any way. And some crispy overcooked potato wedges(slightly spicy). Presentation was poor and it looked like any amateur could have done that. I give it the three stars based on the meat alone, otherwise would have been lower.

Cute ambience. Pretty good desserts. A bit less than decent service. I feel as if this place has some great potential to be a regular haunt for people either for coffee or for a drink. The guys behind the bar seem pretty friendly, but more often than not, pretty inattentive. This place usually comes up in conversation when trying to figure out a spot to grab some dessert at after a meal, and we’ve already been to Baskin Robbins earlier that week… not that that’s stopped us from going to Baskin Robbins multiple times in one week… But anyway this place is a good way to close out the night. The food here is just ok, so it’s always been the pretty good chocolate mousse and good coffee that keeps us coming back.

This is a review for their brunch only. I recently came here with three others for a weekday brunch. It’s a pretty small place. Whenever the door opened, cold air came in so I was basically cold the entire meal. Maybe they need to blast the heat. Service was great. Our server was very attentive and came around for coffee refills several times — much appreciated! She also made sure to ask my preference between white toast and whole grain. Attention to detail like this makes all the difference! Food was good, nothing amazing. I had their omelette special which was red peppers, bacon, and provolone. Pretty good, maybe a little heavy on the cheese. It came with toast and some orange slices. Very filling. Overall, pleasant experience.

I dunno… This was supposed to be a pretty good place, and maybe it is for most, but it wasn’t for me. I mean, it’s enjoyable enough inside, and our waiter for lunch was quite pleasant and informative. But my hot ham & cheese sandwich disappointed. It was described as hot ham slices, smoked gouda cheese, and spicy mustard on grilled bread. But the ham slices were just tepid, and came from one of those boneless formed hams. I had also expected a little bit of meltiness in the cheese. While the mustard was a good stone ground spicy, there was simply too much — overpowering the sandwich. However, the bread was good and buttery & grilled. I guess it wasn’t all bad, though. My lunchmate said the grilled cheese sandwich was excellent. And there was grease actually butter, I think) dripping down the hand. A good grilled cheese sandwich requires a good buttery grilled bread. We also got Pomme’s homemade chips. Now the chips were tasty enough — typical flavor for fresh fried. But Pomme’s take is to slice them thin, which meant that they were cold after about a minute. Oh well, another gripe for me. Here’s hoping your visit is a grilled cheese experience, and not my hot ham & cheese downer.

Saturday Brunch The service is nice, and the place is nice-looking and comfortable. However, prices were a little higher and although the food seemed fresh, I didn’t care for anything on my entrée. I ordered the omelet of the day, which was Sausage and Swiss. The sausage was sliced link sausage, which made the omelet overly meaty and bulky. Every bite was mostly meat w/little cheese and egg to balance. The Swiss didn’t have a strong enough presence or flavor to overcome all the meat. The potato pancake was one thick sausage patty-shaped potato, and unfortunately, this was a bit bland as well. My toast was 1 slice of 6-grain bread, toasted a bit too much for my liking(it would have been burned if in the toaster just seconds longer). Maybe it was an off-day or I just ordered the wrong thing. See pictures of our sausage and swiss omelet and blackberry walnut french toast. The pictures look better than it tasted, unfortunately.

Oh wow, I really like this place! Stopped in for dinner & some wine last night and was really impressed. I’m not even going to touch on the parking issue in the area, but if you want to street park and can’t find a spot, pass up Pomme(on the right) and there’s a parking lot just up the street on the left. It’s worth a shot, and I was lucky enough to score one of the coveted spots. There’s valet available if that sounds like a better option, which it probably is. If you don’t feel like you need a glass of wine, make a couple of laps trying to find a parking spot then get back to me. There aren’t too many tables in there, but when we walked in the bar was full and there was a two seater table left — perfect. We snagged the table and our sever was right over. I ordered a glass of wine(a California chardonnay I loved) and it was over right away. Our server was knowledgeable and very nice, and gave us a run-down of the evening specials: a mahi mahi dish and a steak kabob dish. We decided to start with the cheese plate, mainly because nothing makes me happier than wine & cheese, and wow was this thing great! The toasted bread they give you are small so they aren’t hard to eat, and the three cheese selections were all very different from one another and so satisfying. I decided to get the steak kabob special, and the first thing I noticed was how pink(errrr, red) the meat was in the middle. I realized then that the server never asked me how I wanted it cooked, in which I would have told her medium, but maybe I should have remembered to bring it up myself. Regardless, the steak combined with the roasted red potatoes was just heavenly. It came with a cup of creamed spinach to dip it in that made the whole dish explode. It was like dipping steak and potatoes into a creamy spinach & artichoke dip, sans artichokes… Just incredibly good! The bill wasn’t too much of a shocker and overall my experience here can’t be talked up enough. The atmosphere wasn’t quite as awesome as my favorite down the street, Bocci Bar, but I definitely would recommend Pomme for a date or an evening to catch up with a friend. Just remind them you don’t want your meat straight off the cow.

Eek and ick! To second what Sara B(W) said, regardless if your not-canned(but obviously are) pears are canned or not, they taste that way. Don’t argue with the customer, apologize because they are not happy, and offer something else, to take it off the bill, something customer service-like. All I pictured the whole time was Gordon Ramsey sitting at the table and pushing plates away yelling out«what asshole thought up this disgusting mess!» Sometimes I say ridiculous things for emphasis. This time I’m just stating a fact: some of THEWORST food I have ever had, in the company of school lunches, TV dinners, and $ 1 pot pies. Some of the reviews are in such positive light I can’t imagine anything but different cooks and staff on some nights. The entrees sounded like they could be good, but perhaps were just botched or shortcuts taken which ruined them. This backed by wait staff that was so busy with their 2 tables they never came to check, refill drinks or even water, or clear plates. Be careful what night you go!

I would never return here! After the first place we went to had no open seats we both thought«hey, we should try this place.» We were WRONG! From the minute the server came to the table she had a blank and empty stare on her face with a super FLAT affect. She wasn’t interested in any banter between us, nothing. not friendly basic conversation. Our order: Butternut Squash soup Spinach salad with GOAT cheese, beets and pears with candied walnuts Lamb Rigatoni mushroom Gnocchi. Here is the low down! The soup was by far the best thing we tried that evening. That being said it had no flavor and was pretty boring. The salad was DRIPPING in their oil. there was 1 slice of beet and 1 slice of canned pears. The grossest part was the fact that the«goat cheese» was not salad goat cheese that is Oh so creamy and delish! No, it was BRIE. Not a good combo with the other items. When I brought this to the attention of the server she brought me out a piece of «brie» but it was made from goats milk, so it was goat cheese. I don’t know about anyone else but I really dislike when someone tries to prove that they are right, especially when they are wrong. The Rigatoni tasted like beef stew meet and COLD noodles. Again the Gnocchi was also COLD and the mushrooms were hard as rocks and not easy to eat. Obviously we weren’t having a good time while having a meal here, but to top it off… Both of us had finished with our entrees and our dirty plates sat on our table for more then 10 minutes while the bus boys and our servers chit chatted with one another about the weekend festivities and what not. For such an expensive meal you would expect such higher quality. Truly, I felt as though the only people that were in this establishment were pretentious snobs that invited like minded people to go here. No one was friendly. Sad, b/c it could be a cool place… its not though.

I’m a big fan of brunch so I’m on a constant hunt for great brunch places in St. Louis. When my friend and I happened upon Pomme, I thought I’d have another restaurant to add to my short list of brunch places. Unfortunately, this would not be the case. I got Pomme’s version of my go-to brunch fare: eggs benedict. Never fails to disappoint but Pomme’s version did disappoint… a lot. First of all, they trimmed the eggs to the max and left solely the poached yolk atop my «benedict.» Second of all, the bacon, which is actual bacon and not the Canadian bacon(ham) that’s most often served with in eggs benedict, didn’t complement the dish very well. Its crunchy texture made it hard to eat with the English muffin and the eggs so I had to eat it on the side, which was not how I had intended to have my bacon. Apparently Pomme is not a place where I can have my bacon and eat it too. Third of all, the wait was inexplicably long for poached eggs and a salad. Granted the salad had hanger steak on it but with how empty the restaurant was about 5 – 10 minutes after we were seated, the long wait seemed bizarre. I don’t think I’ll be returning here any time soon and will thus resume my hunt for a good brunch place in St. Louis.

I live right down the street, so I can’t believe it’s taken me so long to try Pomme! Today was the day… They were pretty packed, but my guy and I were seated right away. Super friendly staff, and very prompt service. The OJ was fresh — score! We decided to split the huevos rancheros and the english muffin, salmon, egg combo. My guy doesn’t do cream cheese, so in it’s place we had butter on the english muffins w/our salmon. It was phenomenal. And good thing, because the huevos rancheros were NOT. Sorry Pomme, but the sauce tasted like Chef Boyardee. Totes serious. Don’t order it. Do order the salmon if you’re a smoked salmon gal or guy. It hit the spot.

This is one of my favorite restaurants in Saint Louis. It always brings me back memories of when I spent some time in Paris, France. I had dinner here last Friday and it was a fabulous night as always. My boyfriend and I started with the Brie cheese and apples bruschetta(delicious) & shrimp scampi brushchetta(the chef seared the shrimp perfectly), then I got my usual order of duck salad, and my boyfriend ordered the salmon BLT! I love coming here because my favorite server always remembers me(she knows I love their Fuki riesling wine), the food is constantly amazing and the service is tremendous!

More and more underwhelming with every visit. The first time I came, I enjoyed it. Charming, quaint, simple. Glass of wine, good salad. Good times. Return! Grainy, bland, mac and cheese. Still, a gorgeous day, another gorgeous glass of wine. Third time(and likely last visit). French onion soup was poorly-flavored onion water with an abundance of cheese and croûton. Special chicken-prosciutto creamy pasta was under-seasoned(but thank you for the salt and fresh pepper grinder at the table so I can season my own food). It’s not like I just added a sprinkling of pepper to enhance. There was absolutely no taste. What I consider an abundance of salt was added — unacceptable for a $ 17.50 plate of pasta. Chocolate mousse was well-textured, chocolatey, but could have been richer. Too sugary sweet. I will likely never experience this place for a fourth trip. It’s just not good enough, and who wants to go to a restaurant that’s a crap shoot?

After a poor showing the first time around, it couldn’t have been better on my recent 2nd visit. I thought about requesting the same waiter as before but decided to just let things happen(and got a different staff member). The friend I was with has experienced this place many times and is her favorite in Clayton. Not fast food for sure but not upscale. You can feel free wearing jeans and a tshirt or a suit if in the area for work. Ordered was the bacon(very flavorful), scrambled eggs(good consistency), english muffin(twiced toasted as requested and very good), oatmeal(excellent) and hash browns(excellent). Butter has been allowed to soften making for easy spreading(and I hate fighting with butter). A nice comfortable place on the corner of N Central and Maryland. I also have to add that I managed to park directly in front of the café when at one point a meter maid pulled up to write some tickets. I had not noticed the meter had gone out and the waiter immediately pulled some changed from his pocket and gave me two quarters and as I ran outside, the meter maid(is that the right term?) was very nice about it and allowed me to add to my time. I will go back.
