The sign on the table said Island Republic Shirts 50% OFF today only. I spent a LOT of time trying on that brand of shirt and picking out two. When checking out, I was told the 50% OFF applied only to the Island Republic Shirts on the table, not to ones on racks where I had found my style and size. A good manager would have given me the discount and limited it to the two shirts I had picked out. Instead, one of the managers(I think) seemed to scold me for thinking otherwise!

I’m not much of a shopper, but cut out coupons and went to look only for a specific item of clothing in their flyer. This store is much nicer than any TJ Maxx I’ve been dragged to, tidy and mostly smart casual or dressier clothing – and not for teens or kids. I found a lot of stylish and colorful spring/summer wear that was not particularly cheap since they were well made, but reasonably priced, plus sales. Found what I came for and a pretty wrap and then a pair of name-brand comfort sandals from their not so big shoe section. I’d go again.

There needs to be a support group for people like me. I am a coat-aholic. I like jackets and big winter coats. How I got this disease is beyond me, but the only cure is to go coat shopping and that is what I did. I had already hit a few shops with no luck. None of them carried the type of medication I need. I was looking for something that was fashion forward and screamed my personality. I searched a couple of rounder racks and found nothing to my taste. As I was ready to make my exit, a display on the wall caught my eye. I immediately went over to take a closer look. It was a black poly filled car length coat, by Izod. Looked good on the hanger and looked even better on me. When I reached up to get the empty hanger and proceed to the check out, I noticed a lone«burnt orange» one hanging in the very back. The coat Gods must have been with that day, because it was my size. Which simply meant it was meant to be mine. Stein Mart isn’t for everyone. It’s basically like Marshall’s and TJ Maxx, in that you have to shop regularly to find the good items. I can not speak about the women’s department, but I find the men’s to be for a more mature preppy man. Definitely the golf set. It is obvious they are based out of Florida. I’ve never seen anything for a young trendy man. I’ve found some great items in the pet department and I occasionally score a decorative home item. I have also scored majorly with some very colorful and fun socks. Not my go to all the time, but when I do find a winner like an orange coat for $ 59, I am a fashionista.

Along the lines of TJ Maxx or Ross but more organized.

I went with a friend who was looking for something special in the way of clothing. But we also toured the entire store. I walked out empty-handed, which was much appreciated by my pocketbook. I wasn’t enticed by A THING in the entire store. My friend got a bunch of stuff. Nuff said.

Let me first say, I really hate shopping for clothes. I avoid malls unless I am desperate and typically go 4 or 5 months between shopping trips. In most stores, either can’t find much I like, or I take a dozen items into the dressing room and lucky if I like how 1 or 2 look on me. Stein Mart is definitely my favorite clothing store today. I always have success when I go there. Sometimes it’s just one or two things, but occasionally I find a bunch of things in one trip like I did this weekend. I like how the clothes are laid out on small rounders rather than long rows of clothes packed in like you find at Marshalls and TJ Maxx. I simply have no patience to dig.
