The salad is huge but tasteless, standard chopped iceberg that the salad guy opened a large bag of greens to make. Their dressing must have been hiding that night. I had to ask to get cheese for the salad, and had to use a pepper shaker. The Cannelloni was overcooked with the pasta gummy. The two sauces tasted like Sysco made them Our waiter went outside for a smoke between salads and entrees, and mine was not hot. This is a mass market Italian for people who cannot make it to the Hill or think that the Italian Garden is «really wonderful!

Food was mediocre. Service not so great. I ordered garlic bread and I never got it, the waiter didn’t seem to really care too much. My daughter ordered chicken strips and got a few thin slices of grilled chicken. I had the chicken Marsala and the sauce on the chicken looked old. My husband ordered a pizza and did not finish it because it was tasting pretty horrible. I won’t be back.

What can I say? It’s the Pasta House. As a kid I thought this was a pretty classy place. :) As an adult, I know better. My kids, however, do not. Actually, for this reason we come here about once every other month or so. I can always do a salad or eggplant parmesan, and the kids get pasta, and they feel grown up for sitting in a sit down restaurant, and I’m happy we all agreed on a place to eat. I’d never go here on my own, but a very kid-friendly place. Service is always decent. Until my kids grow up, we’ll be back fairly often.

The environment was nice. The staff/service were slow. We ordered three pasta dishes with salad. Everything came out at the same time. Our water was not refilled and our table was not set with knives. We asked for rolls, knifes and the check. We were here for 45 mins. Most of that time spent waiting… The food was good and served hot. Looked we unstaffed or mismanaged. I would give it another chance. Could just be an off day.

I got the pasta con broccoli with a side salad. The pasta was good except it had mushrooms in it which I wasn’t expecting. The salad was good of course, it’s the best thing there and what everyone goes for. The bread was good but it would have been better if it was warm. Our server was kind of slow getting us drinks and bread but he did pretty good for the amount of people we had with us. Wouldn’t be my first pick to go back to, but I would go back a couple times. Overall Satisfaction: 6⁄10 Taste: 8⁄10 Price: range $ 10-$ 15 per entrée Environment: busy atmosphere with average noise level Service: 7⁄10

Felt like some Italian pasta so I walked down to give this place a shot. I was excited and hoped to really like it, as it is in walking distance to me. I ordered the meatball appetizer. They came out fast but they were cold. They replaced them about 5 min later with hot ones. They were pretty good. I wish I could say the same about the entrees. We ordered a seafood pasta-the scallops were frozen and hard. The shrimp were chewy. The dish was horrible. We also ordered the tortellini. It was not good at all. Very soupy and bland. The meal(except the meatballs) was a huge disappointment. We only had two bites of each plate and that was enough for us. We will not be back again.

Yikes! I don’t know what their«chicken» is made of but its NOT chicken. I’d complain that the portion was tiny for the $ 18.00 but honestly it was so disgusting I wouldn’t have wanted a bigger portion. A STL institution that started as Rich & Charlie’s a true treasure has sadly become the Denny’s of Italian food and it’s really really sad — gag me with a spoon. Skip this one. ** one star for the salad that’s still good

Made a reservation before noon the day of our dinner. When we arrived they said the only way they could seat us was to split us up between a table and a booth. Being okay with that at first soon turned wrong. We had 3 different waitresses trying to take our orders and we still don’t know which one was actually ours. They were very unorganized with everything. Also we had a baby and we tried to seat her at the end with a high chair and they told us we couldn’t do that. All in all reservations don’t mean anything to these people.

I will never come back! Service is horrible. Food is either cold or burnt. My family’s meal was ruined! I would rather drive 30 min away then come here for pasta

I have always loved The Pasta House, but this location has been severely lacking lately which is disappointing since this is the closest location to my work. Portion sizes on the Pasta con Broccoli have not been consistent and the overflow of red onion in salads has become crazy! And whatever you do, do not sit in Bryan’s section. This poor guy is just not meant to be a waiter. He has waited on out table twice this last month and both times were a disaster. He couldn’t understand us ordering lunch as well as a takeout order. It literally took five minutes for us to explain that we didn’t need it right away. On both occasions, lunches were brought out incorrect. And this last time it took 30 minutes from the time I finished my mean and asked for a box to the time we actually were able to leave. I had to ask for a box 3 times and the check twice. I realize lunch hours can get crazy but the restaurant was not full and the heavy-footed running and sweating did not help his situation. Try to find another type of work man.

St. Louis is a city with a lot of pride in its local institutions, and that pride seems to be amplified when applied to restaurants and food that would be most likely to be considered mediocre when applied to a broader standard. Provel cheese, toasted ravioli, gooey butter cake… all of these things, to be fair, are objectively disgusting. But after 7 years in St. Louis, I get it. I’m even starting to defend them. Pasta House may be another St. Louis institution that falls into this protected category, but after nearly a decade, and several dozen visits, I am still struggling to get on board. There is nothing terrible about Pasta House. The locations are clean, the service is competent, and the portions are generous. Nothing on the menu is incredibly authentic. The meat sauce tastes like school lunch meat sauce, the vegetables taste frozen, and many of the dishes have the aftertaste of preservative, as if the dishes were made to be prepared far ahead of time and kept heated and ready to go. The pasta is generally overcooked, and the pasta itself rarely looks or tastes cooked-to-order. The result is a meal that won’t leave you hungry, but you likely won’t feel good about yourself the next day. The one silver lining is that the salad is good. Again, it’s a St. Louis salad, so it’s been marinating in dressing, leaving every square millimeter of the lettuce covered, and wilted as a result. Again, it’s a salad with a distinctive flavor and texture, but also one that is designed to be prepared far ahead of time and dished up on demand. I think it should also be mentioned that their Monday night all-you-can eat special is just a ploy to charge customers an extra $ 3 for a single entrée. I ordered it recently, thinking this would be a good way to try several of their pastas with a series of small plates. Nope. The first dish that came out was nearly a full pre-cooked half-pound of pasta. Even Joey Chestnut would have a hard time choking down all that food. So, essentially, you pay a $ 3 surcharge for a single entrée that you have no chance of finishing. What a complete rip off. If I had not been so tired, I would have asked for my money back. Needless to say, it was either this scam or the pasta that left a bad taste in my mouth. Maybe a little bit of both…

We had garlic cheese bread, salads, and two entrees. My seafood ravioli was very average, seafood was not fresh and kinda rubbery. My wife was sick all night from her fettuccine. The table we were at was kinda dirty to. We won’t be back.

Good food, good service. A St Louis institution. It’s easy to take Pasta House for granted when you live in St Louis, but when you move away you miss it. Hearty portions, reasonable prices, consistently good food, and efficient service. What’s not to like?

What possessed you to stop serving Manicotti? I fell in love with that dish in 1975. I wanted to order it today and found it was no longer on the menu at the Creve Coeur location. Had I not been with my mother, I would have walked out. Our server, though very nice, said they were not given a reason for discontinuing it. Won’t be back until that’s back on the menu. We settled on Toasted Ravioli. I live out of town, and I look forward to eating here when we visit.

I had a mediocre meal at pasta house three years ago, and today gave it another shot. Our lunch favorite had too long of a wait, so we decided to go to pasta house since it was close. The ‘famous’ salad was wilted and full of butts of lettuce, pasta was decently portioned but full of sauce that was obviously reheated from early this morning. Service was poor. Price was outrageous; dinner prices for lunch on top of being overpriced in general. There are far better Italian restaurants in the area– don’t waste your time and money

After leaving this review someone from Pasta House emailed me asking for my contact information so that someone could contact me. I emailed back my information and NEVER heard from anyone. Just another reason not to give this business my money. I have been to the Florissant location a number of times since going to Olive and have always had great service & food! I suggest driving the distance to go to a location with better customer service & food.

Too lazy to microwave a Stouffer’s? For $ 12 this place can do it for you. The«meat» inside the cannelloni looked like it was squeezed out of a tube, or a dog’s butt. Hoosier Italian food, nothing else.

THere was a reason I’ve lived in STL12 yrs and had never gone to a Pasta House… and unfortunately they lived up to my fears… not only did I feel like they wanted me out of there in a hurry… their food made me so ill I was hugging the white God the whole day after I went… I couldn’t eat for 2 days and I still feel a little queezy. never again… I had minestrone soup/salad special w/garlic bread. I hadn’t even taken a few bites of my salad when the guy came out w/the minestrone and I was like I can’t eat that fast meanwhile the soup was getting cold… so I called it to his attention… he took it back until I finished my salad and then brought me «a different» plate… I ordered a Cesar Salad and it was DRENCHED in the sauce. but I was never offered parmesan or pepper… at least my friend enjoyed her chicken/pasta lunch.

I like the food, and the eons-old menu has a great familiarity, like a cherished grandparent. Menu items haven’t changed in decades, and the famous Pasta House salad is exactly the same as when I was in high school taking girls here on dates, as if it were the Ritz. Table tops can be a little greasy, and once in a while the bake-n-serve rolls aren’t quite fully baked. Pasta House food tends to be bland, and the pasta can be a little overcooked at times, but, hey, so was the pasta my mom made. It’s comfort food, not a gourmet cooking demonstration like Niche. Dig in, you look like you’re starving.

The locale of this Pasta House is near my work. It is your normal cookie cutter Pasta House. The food is good and plentiful. Since I don’t do pasta anymore it is hard to come here and not order some of the best pasta in St. Louis. They do have a couple of low carb meals one being sausage and peppers. Not bad but kind of like getting a kiss through a screen door. Just not what you want to eat here.
