Superb bar food, if you can even call it that. Delicious and hit the spot for a late lunch which also was late enough for happy hour by time our bill arrived! Highly recommend the pizza chips to start or a snack. Sooo delicious! Next up, their battered wings. I’m in love with the buffalo sauce! The special that day was a chicken bacon ranch burger and so great. And to top it off, had a great server who was friendly and efficient. I would try the place again and have a cold beer.

Outdoor dining in St. Louis is always a challenge. Trueman’s circumvents this issue well with a semi-shaded outdoor patio fit with big screen TVs and a sand volleyball pit. The food itself is about average but has unique tastes from their sauces. My burger was slightly overcooked and on the smaller side. If you are looking for a place to hang out outside, drink cheap beer, and watch a Cardinals game, Trueman’s is the place for you.

I live in Benton park and I love staying in the neighborhood. I am not a drinker so I never thought to go to Trueman’s. Someone mentioned they have food and I had to check it out. I have been twice now and both times were great! They have salads, pizza, chicken wings and lots of tasty appetizers. I love the buffalo shrimp!

Good place to go to have a beer as long as you sit on the patio because the music is so loud inside. Lots of TVs so fantastic place to watch a game. Food is just ok-menu is too big, they should focus on few items and make them great. Service is good but without my favorite server Ally-I will probably just walk down to Big Daddy’s.

Waited and drank at this bar while waiting for the average across the street place. I enjoyed my time here, comfortable seats and cool staff.

Great dive bar. Food is good for bar food. They have a DJ Thursday to Saturday night and music is ridiculously loud! Other than that it’s a great place to grab drinks or a quick bite.

My only beef is that they advertise as a soulard bar when they are clearly located in Benton Park neighborhood. A bit more fratty of a crowd than others in benton park but a fun time. Volleyball courts, good price on drafts. I have not tried the food. A good place to watch a sports game. Try it out

What can I say about Trueman’s place? This is really just a fantastic neighborhood sports bar and hangout. I could say more and go on about the food, the drink specials, or the shuttle to the games. Bottom line, if you are in Soulard and you’re looking for a sports bar… look no further.

I love living in the City of St. Louis. I have never been so disappointed by the owner of a place that won’t listen to a good customer. I will tell you of 90 other places to enjoy a good meal without having to listen to the owner Jim stand up for bad service, poor food! Dr. P

This place has that familiar Soulard wet basement smell. There are two rooms and then a large patio. The rooms have zero ambiance but they do have plenty of TV’s to watch the game. We ordered a fish basket and a fish special(Jesus told us too). The fish basket sucked. Three skimpy little pieces of cod. The fish special was better, but still I think the portions are small. Drinks were ok. Service was good.

Food is decent and the drinks are a lil more expensive then what they should be considering the atmosphere… But all round fun bar… They only hire what some would consider«attractive» women but to be honest so of these girls are just down right bad at their job. Slow service… But a good place for bar food!

Its bar food… calm down folks. Its pretty good bar food. The fries, well I like them. So I will continue to walk here. I prefer to sit outside. But you won’t catch me in tiny quarters during the weekend nights. Im. not cool enough for it then

It’s a cool place for watching a game, any game, sheesh they got enough TV’s! Decent size patio area, that’s tented up for winter, with a 55 or so inch television. Drinks, are typical price. haven’t had the food there yet. Sand volleyball(one court). Bathroom needs different floor, other than the pee soaked one you tend to sink into… pretty gross, they lose a star for that.

Trueman’s is located on Sidney on the Benton Park/Soulard cusp. It is a fairly a busy neighborhood bar in the middle of the historic district. Inside it is old school wood trimmed, fairly dark, lots of neon. They have an outdoor patio and a volleyball court. It is always bustling with volleyball leagues in the warm weather months and it is generally frequented by young adults and their dogs(pets are outside only). Drinks are cheap and buckets of beer are popular here, The bar food is freezer to fryer. Nothing special, except if you compare it to the average dive bar. They actually have salads and food besides Tom’s pizza and it is reasonably priced. The fried green beans aren’t bad for bar food. Overall, the patio is what keeps this place hopping. Sunday funday can be a hoot and they do have security.

I really want to like Trueman’s Place. Soulard has its high points and low points, depeding upon what patrons are looking for. I like the relaxed atmosphere with live music and food similar to what you might experience in the Big Easy. The other side of Soulard appeals to the«Bro Man,» the guy looking to meet girls and get a little crazy. Trueman’s might appeal to this character. The menu is extensive, so one should hope for good advice from the waitress. When raised this question, I could tell our server hadn’t been pushed too much for suggestions, but she was still helpful to the best of her abilities. She gave me some options, and I wish that I took her up on one of them. My wife got a buffalo chicken sandwich, kind of a safe zone for her. Meanwhile, she convinced me to get the NY Strip Steak Sandwich, which truly set up this place for failure. I order my steak medium rare, and it arrived closer to medium well/well done. Ultimately, the sandwich was enjoyable, and my wife had no beef with her chicken sandwich. However, Trueman’s was clearly not our scene. Despite that, I am willing to give it another try. Stay tuned.

Let me preface this review by saying that Trueman’s has the BEST… yes BEST Chicken Parmesan Sandwich I have ever had. I have been to Trueman’s before; but the last time I went it was during Mardi Gras and of course I don’t remember much of that night. The bar was crowded and it was cold! I do remember the beer being good and the service was fine. Now back to this review-I was invited to Trueman’s to watch the Cards game with some friends. When I arrived I met my friends on the back patio where they saved me a seat. The server, Tara, came over and before I had time to think about what to drink she offered me a beer; so of course I said yes! I mean who turns down a beer? It was Mug Night and so I filled my Mug for $ 4…it was fabulous. When I was faced with the decision of what to order(I had not eaten all day) I didn’t even have to look at the menu because I was quickly prompted to get the chick parm… and so I did. Great choice. It was cooked and seasoned perfectly. Just thinking about it is making me hungry. Of course the side order of fries was a perfect choice. I will try this again. Watching the game in this atmosphere was fabulous! I love being with a crowd of people! After the game we decided to move the party inside for some darts. I myself am not a dart player, but watching was just as fun. Another mug was ordered and the dart competition began. What was so great is that our server was on a team and made it to throw when it was her turn! She is great! I highly recommend this place if you have not gone. Food was good, service was good, and I will be back!
