Truck was at the food truck festival in Shelton tonight and I had to try the Porketta. The place was mobbed and lines were long but I have to say this sandwich was well worth the wait! Tasty Porketta with a delicious crunchy slaw on a nice ciabatta roll. Omg it’s a must try. Wish this truck would join the New Haven food cart and truck scene! One recommendation to the owner… get yourself a meat slicer so you can slice meat paper thin and also line will move faster. Other than that, thank you for selling heaven on a roll! Delicious!

I’ve been to the Vanchetta truck many times! Great sandwiches and great potatoes! I’ve tried almost everything on the menu, and it’s all delicious. The owner, Andy is very welcoming and definitely knows what he’s doing in the kitchen. Everything is fresh and the rotisserie oven is right on the truck so you can watch the pork and chicken roasting right in front of you. Look out for this truck when it’s in your area, it’s definitely worth trying.

I was a bit dissapointed. I met them at the CT Food Truck Festival in North Haven on July 20 and the porchetta was VERY sparse. I have to say the sammich was tasty I’ll say that, the smell during the wait was killing me, but, not so much pork, more unchewable chunks of cabbage that had to be spit out. I want to visit them in their natural habitat sometime, when they arent spread so thin… this being the FIRST annual food truck festival, I don’t think anyone was prepared. I think they were spreading things thin to stay open… a dicey gamble. But my sandwich looked NOTHING like the ones in these pics, it wasnt even cut, a selling point on the board!

Tomato sauce is great… good on everything. The Slaw is excellent. You should package it and sell it. Overall…a very good choice. I will become a regular. Not for me but my wife is a vegetarian. Maybe think about rotisserie veggies? or making some type of egg sandwich(because the bread is great). Just a thought. Kudos to Management… they read my last review just a few weeks ago and now have to-go cups for the slaw and potato and a bag. Makes life easy.

I checked their Facebook page for their location. Was there fire behind all of this rotisserie smoke? As I approached the brightly colored truck with its bold«VanChetta» adorning the sides and«?YRGNUH» emblazoned on the front, I had a good feeling. The line was several deep and others were already enjoying a variety of Chef/Owner Andy Dolan’s creations at surrounding picnic tables. I always start with the chef’s strength and in the case of VanChetta it is the Porchetta sandwich, which is pork loin and belly, seasoned and rotisserie roasted, topped with VanChetta slaw, melted provolone, red onion marmalade, a little garlic mayo and served on a soft roll. I purchased my sandwich and wandered to an empty picnic table. Let’s start with the conclusion; this is one of the best sandwiches in Fairfield County, one of the best I have eaten in a really long time. Yes, it was that good. It encompassed all the features that make a great sandwich. First, the chunks of perfectly roasted meat were absolutely delicious, with great flavors, textures and then a hint of spicy and salty hit the palate. The VanChetta slaw was a delightful creation of shredded cabbage and kale, red onion, carrots, thinly sliced apples, sunflower and pumpkin seeds, and finished with apple cider vinaigrette. The red onion marmalade(described by Andy as «that neon purple color» from Grenadine syrup) added the sweet-sour component. Andy then finished the combination with the creaminess of a little garlic mayo and Provolone cheese, all stuffed into a soft roll. This is a must-have sandwich. My second visit was equally delicious. I sampled a few of Andy’s other sandwiches, plus a side of potatoes. The Pulled Chicken included fresh pulled rotisserie chicken, topped with VanChetta slaw, tomato-corn salsa, and a schmear of garlic mayo. The chicken was moist and flavorful from the slow, self-basting rotisserie. The corn and tomato salad was a perfect complement, it added a sweetness from the tomatoes and corn, which also added a little crunch. The second, and lightest of Andy’s sandwiches, was the Caprese. Traditionally a simple combination of tomatoes, Mozzarella cheese and pesto, VanChetta’s had an interesting twist. Andy substituted toasted sunflower and pumpkins seeds for the pine nuts in his pesto, plus he makes his own mozzarella. The pesto was the highlight of this sandwich, with the seeds creating a delightful earthiness to the pesto. The mozzarella was firm and was a pleasant complement to the pesto. The crispy Patatas Bravas were first topped with a spicy tomato sauces and finished with his garlic mayo. I enjoyed the crunchiness of the spuds combined with the creaminess of the mayo and then the spiciness of the tomato sauce kicked in. This is a great side for any of the sandwiches.

I enjoy Vanchetta while at Two Roads Brewery in Stratford, and they certainly do not disappoint! The patatas bravas are always delicious, I just wish they were served a little differently, the container traps in the condensation. The pulled chicken sandwich is beyond amazing. So good in fact I wish I was eating one while writing this review!

Usually spotted by the Beer Garden at Harbor Point, Vanchetta serves a small selection of sandwiches, rotisserie chicken and sides. The Porchetta sandwich is decent but could use more meat.

Possibly the best tasting sandwich in town. A little small, given the price… porchetta sandwich and the accompanying side of slaw with two glasses of iced tea(my own) and I’m still a little hungry. But happy! :)
