The food is pretty good, especially for Starkville, although it is overpriced. However, the service here is always slow. We went on game day and there was only 1 other table. It took forever to get a waitress to come over and even longer to get our drinks and food. The staff was not particularly friendly and they added an automatic gratuity without telling us. I guess there is a reason no one was there during the LSU game. You might as well go somewhere with a 45 minute wait for a table because it’ll take just as long to get mediocre service here. The ambience and outdoor seating is nice and enjoyable.

This place was absolutely WONDERFUL!!! The outside dining area is beautifully decorated and romantically lit, making it the best atmosphere in starkville by leaps and bounds. The menu is very original and my fiancé and I enjoyed food that was by far the best we’ve had in a very long time. I ordered the stuffed chicken breast(per recommendation of my very tentative and courteous server) and my fiancé ordered the crab cake sandwich. Both entrees were out of this world. The beer and wine selections were very good and priced right. This place was lovely, I’d recommend it to anyone looking for a very romantic date or just a nice meal with friends.

Might be the best hidden gem in Starkville! I’d give the atmosphere & experience 5 of these rating stars but it’s genuinely not meant to be a 5-star restaurant. It’s a wonderful beer garden atmosphere — almost like a magical set for a film or play. Upon entry from parking, it’s not marked; part of the ambiance is that you’ve stumbled upon something hidden. And good. The initial area is truly ‘beer garden’ in that it’s rows of picnic tables outdoors under lights. Charming Gazebo is actually the bar. Up a few steps is more deck seating. Then there’s the giant outdoor sectional with pillows! The last area is white wrought iron chairs & tables(adirondack seating at the rear), creating an elevated outdoor patio feel among 100’s of clear lights among the branches overhead. Yep — been open a year & not so many know of this treasure! Let’s talk food & bev: 2 happy hours each night /early, and also after 9 pm. The tent card offers girlie cocktails — interesting craft drinks-sweet & tasty, and only about $ 5 each. Reg well drinks too. More than 6 beers offered(reference unhappy gal below) and a rather nice selection– some not offered in my home state; local & seasonals appreciated. 3 good wine labels, but all types by the glass. This is all I could ever expect in a beer garden — better than pub! Food was WONDERFUL. Here, you can count on much much better than most domestic pub offerings. It’s more Euro to get that level of pub food. {no, to the disappointed person below — tables aren’t ‘set’ in beer garden dining! Is there a Hilarious button here?} We were blown away by the whole fried okra taste with the Asian chili sauce. My guest is a Starkville resident and this spot, along with the French Onion Soup has become her fave! I had a wonderful salad with homemade ginger dressing that I’d come back for weekly! And when the famous Fish & Chips I’d come for had sold out(I’ll be back; heard they’re great) I opted for a Cajun gumbo and was not at all disappointed. The flavors were true Nola & the ¼ c of rice was planted in the center. Perfect. I’m a huge fan of this place. There’s not much exciting in Stakevegas dining. Veranda’s tasty. This has it all in the evening hours!!!

I’d give it less stars if I could but that’s not much of a review. It was our anniversary and we’re beer lovers. After hearing Gordon Ramsey had been here we wanted to try it out. First impressions were horrible. No signage, no one greeted us. We walked into what we thought was the right place to see a lounge lizard atmosphere with no tables set. Turns out it was the right place. First clue… A scraggly«waiter» approached us and invited us to sit. Gave us a delicious looking menu but the beer list was 6 brews long and 4 you can buy at Walmart! Where was the craft beer?! It was cold so we sat inside but the atmosphere was terrible. Very dark and dungeonesq. Loud too! He then returned to tell us 4 signature dishes were unavailable. The menu only has like 12 things. Again, bad sign. After waiting another 10 min with no attention at all, we left. If they’re serving Bud Light and out of their own signature dishes, it’s just another crappy hotel lounge!

First time here and i love it. They have a great beer selection, good wine choses and the food was great. The grilled chicken is different in all the good wAys. The staff was very good and attentive. Cant wait to come back.

I stumbled upon the Beer Garden while looking for Sugoi(the sushi place which apparently eventually became«The Library» before it was shut down). The atmosphere is nice– you’re set outside in a well-decorated midsummer barbeque-type setting complete with hanging lights, picnic tables, and mellow background music. With that said, I’d like to say that I only recommend this place if you’re going out in a big group and want to have a few beers in a unique environment. Though I hadn’t tried any, the beers all appear to be served in Mason jars. The food itself is a bit overpriced and left me disappointed– I ended up spending about $ 11 on a very small salad($ 6) and half a chicken breast($ 5) that had been unpleasantly charred beyond understanding. After eating that as a tester, I didn’t have a taste for anything else on the menu. Keeping with the aforementioned theme, the dish was served on a clear plastic plate with white plastic utensils. I have no problem with giving this place another try, but I also don’t see much of a reason besides the atmosphere to visit again. I look forward to seeing this place on Hotel Hell; the episode is supposed to air this fall.

This Review has been edited to reflect the poor state of decline that The Beer Garden has sadly undergone. I’m leaving the text from the good review from 2013 as a reminder of what this place once was. The staff have become rude, bitter creatures, the food quality has deteriorated, and the price of beer is astronomical. I vowed never to go back there over a year ago because of my last experience with the incredibly rude staff. The following was written in 2013: I recently had the pleasure of dining at the Beer Garden. The menu is simple, including the Gordon Ramsay Burger, fish and chips, and steak. I have been twice, and had the Ramsay Burger both times. The first time, the Ramsay Burger was the best burger I have ever had. This is taking into consideration Mugshots, and Christies. They also cook the burgers to order, which is excellent, as I prefer medium. The burger is huge, with all the regular dressings, and a special sauce. All this, and an order of awesome fries for $ 12; its a deal. The second time I went, I ordered my burger medium again, but it was a little charred on the outside and well done inside. It was still very good, but I was a little disappointed since it wasn’t as good as the first one. Don’t let this deter you, as even though it wasn’t perfect the second time, it was still amazingly good, and I am sure it was just a one time inconsistency. There is also great beer(all served in mason jars), and the atmosphere is really neat. The beer garden is kind of tucked away behind the hotel, so you feel private. The setting is one of picnic tables, Gazebos, and trees with a canopy of clear Christmas lights. This place is definitely worth a visit, and it should be appearing on Gordon Ramsay’s «Hotel Hell» soon. Next time I go I would like to try the fish n chips, but its so hard not to order that delicious burger!
