As someone who loves good appetizers, I love going to the Dawghouse. My favorite appetizer has to be the spinach and artichoke nachos. A huge pile of nachos covered with a giant helping of the best spinach and artichoke dip I think I’ve ever had with fried chicken strips and cheese to boot. Other favorites are fried pickles and the dipping trio! I usually end up with a salad after such a filling appetizer, and I go for the garden salad. Sometimes I splurge and get the Bigfoot! Bacon lettuce and fried green tomato sandwich with a wonderful sauce.
Pro tip: if you go on a busy night, don’t expect super fast service. I have been impressed by few waiters here, but the food brings me back!

It was 80’s night at the Dawghouse so we went early to eat and get a good seat. The Patty Melt came highly recommended so I tried it and will be having it again — excellent!
After eating, we wandered around the place before the concert and it’s huge! It has a separate dining area, a reception area, a game room with pool tables, a bar downstairs, a bar upstairs, a balcony overlooking the stage/​dance floor and another balcony outside overlooking Main Street Starkville.
This night was standing room only but you could reserve a table. The service was great and the bartenders could be the best in town.
If you’ve never seen the Molly Ringwalds in concert and you love 80’s music, this was the place to be! Had a blast and am looking forward to going again.

This is a review on the food: This was the first place I dined-​in at when I moved to Starkville and I think their burgers are one of the best. The jalapeño buns are what makes it unique. Their mac and cheese are pretty good, too. I haven’t really tried anything else on the menu since I mainly come here for a burger when I’m craving. I like spicy, so the HailState burger is my fave.

Several reviews led us to believe that this would be a great place to enjoy a meal. I’m sure it would have been a decent meal since the patty melt was pretty darn good except for the fact that I had to choke it down since my server doesn’t know how to stay on top of drinks. While I’m on the subject of the server, let’s talk about his «executive action» with part of our meal. Our party of five asked for two plates of nachos. He showed up with one and empty promises of more to come. They never came. We asked him FIVE TIMES for our nachos and finally he said «we comped them since it took so long». When we asked ten minutes later when they were coming out with the rest of our food he explained «by „comp“ we mean they’re not coming».
They gave up on our meal so we’re giving up on this place.

Awesome food and HUGE projection TV to watch games on. Suggestion for the bar: put the sound for the large TV on whatever game is playing instead of playing music on the speakers.

After a fun day of shopping naturally I got hungry! We popped into this place l, we had heard good things. When I was going to school here this place was known as the state theater.
There was a giant screen up with football on it naturally! Ha This place would be a perfect bar to come eat, drink and watch some football!
The menu was your typical sports bar menu. I ordered the turkey sandwich. I came on a toasted croissant and fries for my side. The sandwich was actually really really good. It was exactly what I needed to curb my appetite before tailgating!
I would for sure come back here to watch some football and have a few beers with some friends!

At entry it’s a large sports bar in a college town. I expected good beer and some finger foods. Beer selection isn’t much to talk about but the food is everything! Mac/​cheese with rosemary smoked Gouda and thinly sliced rib eye! Speaking of rib eye, medium rare and cooked on a charcoal grill to perfection. I split a cheesesteak po’boy that only needed a bit more steak to be perfect. Not a lot of reviews for this place but it needs more. A must stop for a pleasant surprise if you’re in town.

The good was really good, especially for Starkville. My friend and I both got the Dawgpound club. Very good. The drinks were really good. I’ve heard the selection of beer is small but we got cocktails. Our appetizer was delicious and the kitchen was very accommodating with our special requests («I want so much ranch you’re disgusted to bring it out to me.»)
Our server was friendly and helpful. It was pretty slow because there was a home football game so I can’t say what it would be like when it was busy.
The food was a little expensive but I’m definitely coming back.

One of the best places to eat in town. Salads always fresh, hand mixed dressings. Burgers are fantastic. Gotta try the cheese fries — amazing. Not your typical bar food. Very gourmet.

Disclaimer: We have not eaten here yet so my review is only for drinks and experience/​atmosphere. However, I’ve heard amazing things about their burgers so returning for a meal is on our agenda!
The Dawg House opened up in what used to be an old theatre in downtown Starkville. The space is huge and well decorated… an atmosphere for everyone. There are two separate dining and bar areas downstairs, one of which houses an ENORMOUS projection screen TV for showing sporting events. There’s also a massive stage for live music.
Upstairs you can find another bar, a balcony area, pool tables, darts, etc…
I will say that I was disappointed in their beer selection though… not many to choose from!

Average/​decent beer selection, but the food is great. There’s a patio upstairs, pool tables, darts, and a second bar by the patio. That’s not to mention the stage and additional mezzanine bar upstairs.

Awesome atmosphere backed up by an even better menu! I had the sweet and spicy wings and they were outstanding!!! My dad ordered the cheese burger and he was extremely impressed, and this man is extremely picky. They really did a great job on the décor! They took what was a very old State Theatre and turned into a very vintage looking hang out spot! The manager came over and introduced himself and he was super friendly and extremely approachable!!! I highly recommend this place
