We are regulars at Patriots and frequent here often. The staff is great, they know us and always treat us well. The burgers, steak flat bread, pizzas and wings are great choices. The clam chowder is a must on a cold day or as an app. Love their beer selection as well! I would love to see a few new changes on the menu or rotating specials as we always order the same couple of choices. I heard they are renovating their patio area which would be awesome as right now the patio is windy and not comfortable chairs and tables.

This place is absolutely magnificent. I’ve been here 3 times and I keep getting the same thing because it’s so delicious I just can’t deviate. I get the Haystack burger with Frites(fries) and my choice of dipping sauces. My husband gets the lobster mac. And I’m telling you, this is my favorite restaurant and if I lived closer I’d be coming here every night!!!

First time here! Never heard about the place, but am pleased it was recommended from a friend of a friend! My son said pick a place for your Birthday dinner, and I’m glad I decided on Patriots Tavern! Everyone at the table enjoyed their food! Will definitely return!

Lets start with some early things… the place is very small, so, plan on a wait on weekends during peak hours. I won’t guess at capacity, but, take my word for it that it’s small. It’s also a decent drive from the twin cities, worth it to me, but, still, it’s kind of out there. Parking is primarily street around the small little town. Service here was fantastic throughout. We had a group of 6, and the server and staff did a great job taking care of us throughout and had the bill nailed down perfectly. We got a lot, so I’ll dive into the chow. Starters… Walleye fingers– the first batch was incredible. Perfectly battered, perfectly fried, and served with an awesome dill-may sauce. The second batch, which we ordered right away after the first arrived, didn’t come out until midway through our dinner. Which was strange. It was also a miss. The batter this time was incredibly salty, and this was a feeling shared by all at the table. Was extremely strange to have a perfect batch, then one that was not good at all the second go around. Pizza fries-in the shortest of descriptions, perfect. The sauce was a sweeter red sauce that complimented the savory/salty cheeses and garlic just perfectly. Highly recommend. Entrees… I had the salmon dinner: topped with a cranberry mustard crust. Served over meadow greens with citrus vinaigrette and grilled asparagus. The meal was perfect. The mustard wasn’t over powering, the cranberry tartness was a perfect complimentary flavor, and the citrus vinaigrette was amazing. Veggies were served perfectly, not wilted, and the asparagus was grilled as it should be, still with some solid snap and not soft/limp. Rabbit(on special, not sure about availability now) — was really good. Still had the solid gamey flavor, while not being over cooked to the point of being chewy. When I come back, I’ll definitely be looking for this on the menu again. Ale Potted Beef Skillet– peas, bacon, carrot, pearl onion, rich gravy and mashed potatoes… I really enjoyed this one too. It was the girlfriend dish that I might have had a bite or three from. The gravy was perfectly rich, and not runny or lumpy. Just right. Beef was still tender and not over done. The only thing wrong, for the lack of a better word, was the request for no onions that wasn’t adhered to. Dessert: Apple Pie Puff– flaky puff pastry topped with granny smith apples, cinnamon and brown sugar-oat crumble, then baked in our woodfire oven. Topped with ice cream and caramel. I would go back for that alone. Unbelievably good. Imagine an apple turnover getting into a fight with a greek style filo-pastry, then body slammed by a crust of brown sugar. It was incredible and had me fighting with the woman for the last bite(which I lost). Really close to 5 stars, save for a the hiccups mentioned.

Quaint little place. Hard to get into during peak hours but worth it. The Firecracker burger is one the best burgers I’ve ever had. We go there often and it’s always consistently good. Also, all the different sauces for the fries are awesome.

It wasn’t busy when we arrived at 10:50 for breakfast, probably because breakfast is new,(served til 11am on Sat & Sun) and then a few tables filled up. I ordered the traditional eggs bennie and it was delish… I specified the eggs to be ‘poached soft/runny’, unfortunately, they were not so our server, Emily, who was very efficient and friendly, had the chef make another that was done perfectly. The hash browns were done perfectly and they didn’t have that old, greasy oil taste that some places turn out. My husbands’ basted eggs, bacon, and sour dough toast was yummy as well. We will definitely return as I need to try the lobster scramble and the quiche sometime! Enjoy!

I went to the Patriot Tavern the other day with my friend Masha. She had the Lobster Mac and Cheese. She said it was excellent, she took half home with her. I had the Tavern Burger, perfectly cooked medium rare. I had and old Speckled Hen on tap. We also had the Frites with three special dipping sauces. I would recommend Patriot Tavern.

A friend brought me to this restaurant, and I’m not familiar with Stillwater, but I would bet this is one of the best restaurants there! I had a flatbread and he had a pot roast, and both were incredible. The food came quickly and our server was very nice and knowledgeable. I can’t wait to venture back to that side of the cities and try more menu items!

Located in the planned community, Liberty on the Lake near Stillwater, this place features burgers, flatbreads and soup. Designed to look like a New England pub, it is a lot smaller inside than it looks. We stopped in on a Friday for lunch and had no problem getting a table-there we only 3 other groups in the place. Two of us ordered burgers, and the third a BBQ chicken flat bread. There were only two servers working but with only 4 small parties in the restaurant, that should have been more than adequate for snappy service. Unfortunately that was not the case for us this visit. Beverages were not refreshed, it took 10 minutes to get the check and another 10 to have it come back with the processed credit card. You can really see how hard it is getting with the economy expanding for these little restaurants in out of the way locations to get quality help. Overall the food was good and I especially liked the crispy French fries(two of us split a side order as the come a la carte), but was very disappointed with the service. Probably won’t return as the food is fine, but not worth the drive.

This place was amazing! Chris, the bartender and our server was very attentive and just so nice. Our sodas were never empty for long and we drink a lot! I had the haystack burger and it was cooked to perfection. Normally I have to send burgers back because they are never cooked enough but not this time! My husband had the Outlaw burger and he said that is was amazing. Chris told us that the owner is the chef and that his brother is a butcher so they ground their own meat for the burgers which I thought was really cool! The onions rings that we had were massive… more like onion ring donuts or something equally big!!! We totally recommend this place…100% awesome!

This used to be a pretty fun place to go. Went there on a Saturday just after noon and we had the place to ourselves. Totally dead. Had lobster rolls. This used to be a real signature dish and we really looked forward to it. This time, it came in a piece of bread that was flavorless and it was nearly burned. Lobster roll is supposed to come in a soft bun, not dry toast. The lobster was diced small with few big chunks. Way too much mayo and sour cream. We hardly tasted the lobster. This place is done. They will be gone in a month.

The lobster roll is within the top 5 best entrees I’ve ever had at any restaurant. Everything else was certainly above average.

Wow, wanted something in between bar food and a heavy meal. Stopping here on a whim. We had a lobster roll and a Tavern Steak melt. The lobster roll was made on a perfectly grilled roll that balance the lobster salad. Very good steak sandwich if you like awesome Caramelized onions with mushrooms. And I do!

Beer selection rarely changes, the fact that I have to pay for a side or bbg or mayo to dip my fries in pisses me off!!! Service is always great for that I give 2 stars, the sauce thing I will never go back! Sorry I don’t like catsup, punish me.

Been here twice, fish tacos were amazing the 1st time, second time it was a joke, 2 little pieces of fish on a little lettuce for $ 15. I could have done that at home! Server never checked back, last time we come here. Never see any management both times we wanted to say something, so we will just post it here I guess.

Patriot’s Tavern serves up some consistently good eats and the staff have always been very friendly, though the pricing and combination of location/ambiance won’t have me making the trek all that often. My latter comments aren’t meant to be a knock on this place, it’s just that it’s more of what I’d consider a neighborhood restaurant instead of a tavern, and it’s a bit off the beaten path. That said, they have a decent tap list for the 8 tap handles they have, and the food has always been pretty good. Given that it’s one of the few places to grab a decent lobster roll around town(though it still takes a backseat to Smack Shack), I’m sure I’ll be coaxed into heading back from time to time. The wood-fired pizzas are also good, and in general they do a pretty good job with seafood. Bottom line is that the food is better than the 3-star rating, just not a huge fan of the colonial restaurant shtick and it shouldn’t be called a tavern if it only has 6 barstools.

This place had a good deal on Groupon so my wife and I swung in here for dinner. It was a very good experience. The entrée’s were fantastic. The fish taco’s and haystack burger were both unique and great. The french fries they serve are thick cut with a nice salty coating. They also have a great selection of dipping sauces. We did the Papaya habanero, Cilantro Mayo and Lemon/Dill Mayo. My wife even loved the cilantro mayo and she doesn’t even like cilantro. The downfall of the meal was dessert. The brownie was nothing special. It had very good ice cream under it, but it was a very small serving which was overwhelmed by whip cream. Overall great place, great entrée’s and good service. We will go back.
