The thing I have to give great applause for, and probably the only reason I’m bothering to review is the mapo tofu(they don’t spell it that way, has several spellings) It’s not a common dish in America. It’s rather hard to find. And where it is found, it’s usually a vegetarian dish. But mapo tofu isn’t traditionally vegetarian. It’s an AMAZING dish of tofu, meat, and magically delicious hot sauce. As it was, New Shanghai’s version was vegetarian. But I asked them if they could add pork and make it really hot. They did so with no trouble. It blew me away! So good. Why isn’t this more popular? Apparently the main chili in the ingredients was illegal to import for decades. But not anymore, and it’s not like you can’t substitute. Anyway, aces. Aces for the quality. Aces for taking a special order and making it better than I would have imagined. Aces for having it in the first place. I want to give them a higher rating, but their crab rangoon was comically bad. First it was full of onions. It didn’t taste bad, just not really expected. The hilarious part was I’m guessing due to the deep frying, the rangoons were filled with oil. I’m not afraid of greasy food, but these were essentially pockets full of oil. I must admit though I did drain them and eat them anyway. I guess a little more down for some of the food being rather average otherwise. Custom order to your liking for memorable experiences!

I have been to so many Chinese restaurants in the valley and I have to say this is my favorite! The staff is super friendly and remembers everything even down the the fact that my husband doesn’t use straws. The food is excellent and tastes authentic.

Second time this week. I travel a lot and it’s nice to find places like this. Small operation with good food and very comfortable. I had delivery the first time and like the other reviews the food was packed well with generous portions. Second time I stopped by to pick up. Same experience with great food that didn’t taste like a chain thing.

Every time I’ve ordered for delivery, their service is great. I ordered the spring rolls(veggie), Mongolian beef, house chicken, and chicken chow mein. It was delivered in a timely manner and was hot and fresh. Also they are very affordable since I was on a budget. Also a side note, a nice thing is when I open the box, the food isn’t spilling out onto my counter either. The delivery guy is great and so nice. The lady who answered and took my order was nice and prompt. I give it 5 stars on the basis of their service, affordability, and great tasting Chinese food but best of all, they can deliver to my apartment with no problems. I’m now a big fan!

For this place I give you 4 stars the food was good but not awesome maybe because driver got lost and was a little cold. Yeah I did have this deliver and that was awesome free delivery just be nice and tip the driver. In this order we got the basics House fried rice and House Low-mein, almond chicken and beef broccoli. 4 egg rolls. We also got free wanton chips. 2 adults and a 3 year old and 1 year old. We still have ½ left so that’s a plus. Over all great place.

Really enjoyed having stuff delivered from here. The cherry pork is unique; never saw it anywhere else. The soups are great. I usually order extra. However, the Mongolian Beef needs a little work. The delivery guy is nice and patient. Give him a raise!

I ordered take out and it was ready in less than 20 minutes! I got the dinner for one with Mongolian beef(it’s definitely among the favorites. But keep in mind that it’s spicy!) The chicken chow mein is classic too! Good to eat in as well, clean and not so chaotic despite its small size. If you are craving Chinese, this is definitely somewhere to go!

The food here is pretty good, my favorite is the house chicken and the wanton soup. My only concern is the lack of sanitation. The menus are are dirty and stained, the seats are cut and tapped up, and the tables aren’t stable. It’s a great place to get some lunch but not for a date night. If you’re looking for some Chinese food, you can never go wrong with Peking.

We have been going here for the past 5 years. I have yet to receive any food that was not what I expected. I would suggest the house chow main and the fried rice with the house chicken and the chicken salad. We generally go in and eat. It is a small place and parking is hard but well worth it. The booth chairs could use some love and care but otherwise very clean. The staff is small generally a cook and delivery driver and the waitress. But we always get great service, and in a timely manner. This is not panda express so do not go in there expecting to get everything in five minutes, which I think is a probably in our society. The wait staff comes and takes your drink orders and gives you time to get your mind wrapped around what you want to order. They will come back and take your order and find out if you want chop sticks etc. They also do offer kimchee. Which is my fav. At first I had to ask for it but now that we have been going there so often as soon as we sit down she brings me a plate of it. Great options for those who do not want meat in their dinner. Veggies are always fresh.

So I ordered Soup, appetizer, Mu Shu Chicken. Took over an hour, the food was cold. Not even warm, but, COLD. my pancakes for my Mu Shu were stuck together in the middle and dry and ripping/cracking on the edges. When I called them back the RUDE woman on the phone basically told me it was my fault because I ordered it delivered and if I wanted hot food I should pick it up myself. This is not what I expected for a $ 35.00 order. Very Disappointed.

Haha my review might seem a little biased because I know the owner/chef and his kids who are my close, close friends. But I swearrr, even if I didn’t know them my review would deem a 4. Especially for a great home-cooked style chinese food IN Stockton, NEAR uop. VIBE/PLACE: +Very hole in the wall Chinese food place. Not really decorated… you can tell a man with pragmatic thoughts tried to decorate the place. There are some typical asian wall décor and the tables have the typical phoenix picture on it. LOL +Not exactly date-like buttt very casual and do see couples who definitely look like they’ve been dating for a while and families here. Ooh and college kids like me :) FOOD/SERVICE: +sizzling rice soup is good! just try it I don’t know how to explain it. +hot and sour soup! Dunk your rice in it. I learned that from my taiwanese friend @Jerline H and it’s a great spoonful +I was craving jja jja mein and chef hui gave me his variation. I think it was the plum sauce noodle. Not exactly the korean-chinese fusion I was craving, but it was sweet and quite yummy. +mabo tofu portions are really big +++omg, I had crunchy egg noodle(probably called House noodles) here for the first time in my life and it was wonderful. I craved them for the longest time. HAHA +portions are good, prices are cheap/reasonable, lots of veggies +nice older lady waitress VERDICT: It’s near the verizon store and baskin robbins right on pacific. Quick, cheap food that will fill you up and you can take back your leftovers to your dorms/apt/house for later when you’re busy studying. You can also just order delivery if you’re still in your pjs studying. I’m also sure whatever you order, it’ll turn out fine, really.

Seriously!!! I fricken LOVE this place. I placed an order for delivery(minimum of $ 20) and again I was impressed. I bought a ton of the cream cheese wontons and spring rolls. Once again, it was deeeeeeeeeelicious, on time, aaaaaaand I got a free side. Deep fried broccoli. SO good. This place is totally on my list of favorites :))))))))))))) The BEST part??? They cut small triangles into their take out boxes so the food can breathe… AKA your food doesn’t get soggy by the time you eat it. A-Maze-Ing.

I don’t normally do hole-in-the-wall Chinese restaurants without getting great recommendations or thoroughly studying reviews. Normally when you order a «vegetarian» dish at such a place, your lone choice is greasy vegetables with tofu. There’s not even a guarantee that what you are getting is in fact vegetarian at these types of places. Thankfully the recommendation comes from my «mother-in-law», their #1 customer. She’s well acquainted with the chef, Hui, the servers, John, & Anna, also probably their children, pets and friends. Yes, she’s THAT friendly! The family style tofu is the tastiest dish I’ve tried here. Fried tofu, ordered extra crispy, while still maintaining a satisfying softness. The yummy sauce used serves to round out the flavors. The vegetable chow mein is outstanding, if unexciting. Their spring rolls stand up against all competitors, although the sweet ‘n sour is just average. One thing I appreciate about this Chinese place is the fact that they clearly label veg items as such. They don’t try to snake you and list Ma Po tofu under«vegetarian options» then add in the descriptions«with little meat»(WTF!) as I’ve seen at other places. They even have another great veg option here. Even the wonton soup uses«clear broth». Apparently clear broth is just veggie broth according to the chef. I have to try this my next visit! I would rate the food here 3.5 stars but the verified veg options and the outstanding service provided by John & Anna bumps it up another star or so. It’s my go-to place whenever I find myself stranded in Stockton.
