Three stars are for the waitress who was very nice and friendly. The service was prompt and our order arrived accurately. However, the food was two stars at best. We both ordered the«Huge Fried Seafood Platter». This consisted of one piece of cod fish, three small scallops, one crabcake, 2 small shrimp, coleslaw, and french fries. Not even the amount of fries were remotely«huge». The cod and coleslaw were the best tasting items. I also enjoyed their sweetened iced tea. For $ 19.95 per platter, even with our groupon, we would not go back ever again. We went in November, at night, and it was a rainy night. So I cannot comment on the ocean views, but this place was VERY out of the way for us and seemed to be in the middle of nowhere down past the airport. The restaurant is inside a cheesy-looking motel. Although it appeared to be clean, it was divey and outdated. Definitely not a place to recommend.

Great«Old School» Menu — lots to choose from and excellent! I had the Salisbury Steak with Mashed Potatoes and Sautéed Spinach — so good! Checked into the Hotel after a long day on the road — warm welcome — upgraded room overlooking the water — great deal!

Five stars for the view, two stars for the food, one star for the lobster. What a disappointment. We came to have a lobster roll lunch with an ocean view. The menu touted the lobster rolls as the best in the state. Lies. All lies. The lobster was overlooked as if it was left for a day under a heat lamp. We ordered peas as a side and they were also very crisp as if they were left out for a day or two. The view is gorgeous but the food leaves so much to be desired(and frankly I’m so sad to have paid $ 20 for the worst lobster roll I’ve ever had).

View and outside seating was just okay. Crab cakes tasted like frozen hockey pucks. Potato skins didn’t taste fresh. Lobster rolls tastes slightly fishy and bun was saturated with butter. Pricey

I have been coming here since I was a kid. It’s right on the water, has a full bar, an outdoor patio, an ice cream counter and great views. It’s not fancy and the food is good but not great — think diner-type fare. The décor has not changed much since the 80s. Old booths and tables that have ads on them. But the place is very affordable and the service is always friendly if not terribly speedy. If you’re in the hood, go for it!

It’s decent food. Waitress was very nice. I noticed they have very young, cute women that work there because I guess it draws in business. We ordered a Cobb salad and hamburger. The Cobb salad was average. Iceberg lettuce, cherry tomatoes, not very good ranch dressing. Chicken tasted previously frozen. Hamburger was mediocre as well. Sad looking toppings were ok. Potato chips came on the side for your side dish. The wings there, because my friend ordered them were actually the hero of the meal. The only reason this place received a 3 instead of a 2 was our waitress was very sweet and nice.

I honestly wouldn’t come back again. The hostess sat us all the way in the back of the restaurant in the corner. There were flies EVERYWHERE. Dead flies in the window, on the table. It was gross. We asked to move our table and we did. Ordered the lobster roll platter. It was soggy and served on a hamburger bun. What kind of «lobster roll» is that? Definitely NOT worth the 19.00. Although our waitress was good, everything else was awful.

Come for the view, because that’s about the only good thing here. I’ve found the soups or chowder here to be consistent in being high quality. The seafood here is decent, but sometimes the sides have been off. I had a side spinach that was so salty I would’ve thought it was dunked in the ocean outside. Their grinders are pretty good, the burgers are just okay. Their Maryland crab cakes obviously don’t compare to real ones from Maryland as they’re all fried removing a lot of the flavor. They’re just ok, but look like hockey pucks. Go to OCMD if you want real crabcakes. Even simple things like chicken parm that is simple to make come out unappetizing. Awful sauce and just a sad looking meal. The chicken marsala was even worse, it was disgusting; rubbery chicken, canned mushrooms and way too much sauce along with bland soggy broccoli and bland mashed potatoes that seemed like they were instant. It was inedible and had to be sent back, no manager came over to inquire about it, despite the place being nearly empty. They need less items on the menu and have them be of a higher quality. There’s no reason for food so easy to make to come out so disgusting. One time there was a nasty green spot on a large chunk of lobster and they took the big lobster piece in back and said«oh that’s nothing to worry about», great but I still lost out on a piece of lobster the size of my credit card. Can’t believe they would take away such a large piece and not replace it. Their specials are usually good, but service really needs improving. Either slow or forgetting things, it’s happened a couple times here even when it wasn’t busy but yet other times I’ll come and it’ll be busy and the service will be of a higher quality. Overall though the service is pretty poor. You seat yourself and wait. Then you wait for menus, then you wait for silverware, then you wait for drinks, there’s just a lot of waiting. There were literally 4 tables on my last visit on a Tuesday night and the waitress barely came over. Took 5 minutes to even get menus. We were left with empty drinks until someone else brought the food out, waitress nowhere in sight. It seems like they are not only understaffed but the waiters are often nowhere to be seen. This is a frequent and annoying issue especially with an empty restaurant. There’s no excuse for the service to be so consistently awful. Yes the décor is outdated but your eyes should be fixated outside if you’re lucky enough to grab a window seat as they don’t do reservations. The dated décor is also dirty in spots like the heaters which need a good cleaning. There is even a bar outside which is great for a sunny day. The ocean view is a sight to behold and it really is sublime to be enjoying a savory lobster bisque while watching the sky turn the orange color of the soup. Overall, Marnick’s detriments may seem minor, but on repeated visits, they become more than just minor nagging issues, so much so that I don’t even enjoy coming here because I know something will go wrong. They make a good lobster roll, but they skimp on portions(but not the prices) by putting it on a hamburger bun instead of a hot dog one. The daily specials are generally great and they even have ice cream to go. Perfect for a post-meal digestion walk along the shore. The view is what makes this place and makes it easy to be a regular. Food just tastes better with an ocean view. Update: I had to bring the score down a star to 3-stars. The décor is ugly but that doesn’t matter when the service is so bad. The service is awful even when empty. It happens all the time! I am patient and come here often but I am annoyed with going here now because it’s literally awful service all the time. Don’t order anything besides seafood, even simple things like chicken parm or chicken marsala are borderline inedible here. Really the only consistently good thing here is the view, anywhere else this would be a 1-star place, step your game up Marnick’s. Update #2: Upon further thought, this place gets by on the view so they slack on everything else. They have no control over the view so they shouldn’t get brownie points for it(especially when there is dirty and ugly décor in between the food and the ocean) as that’s not fair. It’s really sad and frustrating that there’s seemingly no semblance of pride here. I had to bring my review down again to 2-stars because everything else aside from the view and a few seafood specials is garbage. The food and service here has no business being this bad especially considering the high prices. You know that muscle guy Robert Irvine from the show«Restaurant Impossible» where they redo restaurants to save them? He needs to come here ASAP to fix the whole place and the menu before the endless subpar elements push everyone away. Step your game up sooner than later Marnick’s, I was the #1 person in check-ins here, but I’m not going back unless there are some major changes.

The Rodeway Inn portion barely lives up to its«two star» classification on Hotwire and Priceline. Very, VERY outdated décor, worn out mattresses, uneven floors and crumbling common areas are admittedly partially offset by the beautiful, direct beachfront location, yet the property screams«tear me down and rebuild me.» Staff varied from surly to friendly, and housekeeping was efficient during my recent multi-night stay. Net, net: «shabby chic» can be charming, but this property has seen better days and is arguably just«shabby.»

I have been stewing about my treatment by Marnick’s management. Last summer ordered scallops. Worse scallops I ever had. The size of a lima bean with breading. They replaced it with a fried fish dinner. Yuk. As I was with friends Idid not want to complain again. After leaving the Restaurant I discovered a table mate(who also had the scallops returned) had his meal deducted from his bill. i contacted American Express with my complaint and Marnick’s response was to show I had signed the receipt. I personally wrote to them again telling them I felt I was treated unfairly. You guessed it no response at all this time. I have spoken to other folks about my experience and they all told me never get anything but sandwiches at Marnick’s. as If I will ever eat there again. Just because they are located near the ocean doesn’t mean their seafood is any good.

Went here over the weekend. I had a burger which seemed more like a McDonalds crap and forget fries they give you a bag of chips. My nephew had a kids meal hotdog and these guys can’t even cook one they just tossed it in the microwave like lazy fucks. On top of that I had to sit there and watch on of their employees walk around the place drunk in the kitchen and just acting like he owned the place. Never will go back to this shit hole thank good it’s out in bum fuck no where’s so people could avoid it

I love Marnicks! The restaurant has a beautiful view of «the beach»(Long Island Sound). It’s lovely to eat outside when the weather is warm. As for the food, I’ve had several of their sandwiches and usually get the Cobb salad(delicious)! The wait staff is friendly and prices are affordable. I didn’t expect much from a hotel restaurant but I’ve gone back time and time again and find myself craving their Cobb salad often!

Worst service ever. If you want to see four waitresses check their phones at the same time, sit at the bar. They really need a no cell phone while working policy

Bad mixed drinks but great view. Terrible drinks from the bar, I would swear they had no liquor. I’d suggest go only if you drink beer or wine. I had the mango mojito & a cranberry vodka. The mojito was all soda water with mint leaves and then a cranberry juice basically after. As far as food, I had a salad and the lettuce was clearly not fresh bc it was browned. A fresh salad is the easiest thing I wouldn’t trust the other food if they can’t make this correctly. The patio view is beautiful but bc of the horrible drinks at the bar and lack of fresh food I would not return. Good for beer lovers though!

First off, you can not beat the view. Make sure to get a window seat. The service was very good and the dining room was about 75% full, which is guess is a lot on a Monday evening. The outside bar looked completely full. I had the lobster roll platter which with came with two sides, a lot of food for 18.95. Lobster was plentiful and luscious, the french fries were hot and crisp. Not a big fan of the corn, but I usually am not fond if frozen vegetables. My cousin had the hot dog which she liked. Good, cheap, clean fun

Breakfast with pops… a good place to go with a view for breakfast, lunch, or dinner. Nothing special in terms of food, but the view is the real deal. During the Spring, Summer, and Fall, happy hour is also worth the view.

Great food and friendly service. I had the Buffalo Chicken Wrap and my friends had the chowder, lobster bisque and fish tacos. All of us loved the food and the water view from the deck is ideal. My Buffalo Wrap was loaded with tasty chicken, seasoning, peppers, a little corn, rice and cheese. The fries that came with were excellent — crispy and tasty. The service felt a little on the slow side for a late lunch. The place wasn’t super packed or terribly busy so perhaps new servers. I’m not a big stickler about service speed personally. Just noting that for the sake of review. Might not be the lunch choice if you are on the clock. Otherwise outstanding.

The sign said seat yourself. We were a party of 7. We seated ourselves and then the workers said there is bigger tables somewhere else. Well don’t put that sign out about seating yourself if you want to just tell us where to sit anyways. The piña colada was real good. It wasn’t too strong at all. Just perfect. It wasn’t filled to the top though which was not good. Id prefer my cup filled to the top. She said she would bring a pitcher of water for the whole table. And after we had our food already the water still hasn’t come so we reminded her about the water. Then she brought it and there was some black stuff floating in the water. The nachos were really good except I asked for no jalapeños and olives and I clearly got jalapeños in mine. The view is beautiful of the Long Island sound. It’s right on the water so great views. Not crowded at all. Pretty slow business. But I’d come back.

Ok, for what it is, and the price you are going to pay, this is a damned good deal. If you’re either cheap, or broke(like me) but still like to get away, this may be your destination. The rooms are a bit worn around the edges. but I got a beachfront hotel during peak season on the weekend for under $ 100 a night. That is unbelievable.

King lobster roll promising double the meat? Yes please. The regular lobster roll is 16 dollars the double meat lobster roll is 21 and I definitely recommend you order that one. My only complaint is it was served on a round bun as I am used to the traditional hot dog style roll. There was a good amount of butter on it just how I like it. Check out the picture I attached lots of claw meat. It was also served with a side of coleslaw which I did not eat because my dad grabbed it off my plate. He loves his coleslaw! I also got a side salad which was standard the lettuce was a bit wilted. Mom enjoyed her cheeseburger and we all got ice cream for dessert. We have never seen ice cream cones melt so fast and we must have looked crazy as we were having fits of hysterical laughter in the parking lot. Located right on the beach this is an awesome place to visit and brings you back to simpler times.
