we had a great time here. The place had that feel of, the season is about to start, and we have to get it in order. so there was stuff hanging out in the hall ways that probably won’t be there in a few weeks. meanwhile, our room was well appointed, and utterly spotless. Excellent housekeeping. we were at the end of the second floor, so we had a commanding view of the lovely beach and Long Island sound. we were there so that I could go to a conference, and I did not partake of the continental breakfast. Nice people, nice place. Would go back in a heartbeat.

Traveling alone, I was looking for a safe, comfortable, reasonable place to stay overnight after a family event. I am very glad that I found Rodeway Inn, which fit the bill and more. I had a clean room with a comfortable bed and a balcony overlooking the water. All of the staff were very helpful. The restaurant offered good food and service, with a continental breakfast included with the room. I would definitely go back.

First, I want to be very clear: this is NOT a luxury beach hotel, nor is it a typical beachsiide town. This is an economy hotel that happens to be situated on its own private little beach nestled at the end of a blue-color town. So if you are looking for quaint, or if you require 5 star hotels, do not book this. However, if you are looking for an affordable place to stay with ocean views and a beach, this was a pleasant find. I, too, would normally avoid budget hotels, but my sister, mother, grandmother and I thought we would give this a chance having read decent reviews and knowing that it was a budget chain hotel. So, if you are OK with that knowledge and would like to be able to walk out your door and be on the beach or steps from the beach, here’s what I wish I had known: 1. Bring water shoes!!! The beach here is rocky and difficult to enter and exit the water. 2. Do NOT stay in rooms 214 through 219. This hallway has the icemachine on it and it is loud. In fact, the only complaint I have for this weekend stay is that the town is currently shutting water off for several hours a day. Because of this, the restaurant/bar had to fill several ice buckets very late at niight and it woke us up each time. The manager promised to tell them to get their ice before 11 tonight. 3. The air conditioners(along with everything) are old. This is not a recently updated place. Our ac worked for the most part, but it was not super cold. 4. The rooms are clean. The beds could use new mattresses, but after a full day in the sun, I had no trouble falling sleep. 5. You do need to bring your own beach towels and chairs. 6. We did not feel that little kids would enjoy swimming here. 7. The restaurant is quite decent. We’ve eaten breakfast and dinner here each day. 8. Book early! We booked back in April for a trip in July, and there were only two rooms left. 9. Do not expect great ammenities. There is soap and shampoo, but no conditioner. No coffee maker in the room and no included breakfast. All in all, I will come again for a nice weekend in the sun at a very reasonable price. We paid $ 99 for a room with a King and a double(no water view) and a $ 79 for a room with two doubles, a small view of the water.
