We love this Restsurant in Sturgeon Bay. When we head up to the Door we like to stop for dinner. I’ve had the halibut twice it is flaky and light served with a nice assortment of fresh vegetables. We have also tried the duck tacos also a great choice. They have a nice wine selection. Your entrée comes with a nice salad and bread. I’m sure there are other great selections but I can’t get past the fish. This is a great find on our way to the door.

Wonderful dinner with the family on our last night in Door County. We shared the roasted shrimp and grits starter and that was delicious. Rich jalapeño flavor and spice from the chili oil. I got the scallop starter for my main dinner because I was so full from a late lunch. Hubby got the thick pork chop which was perfectly grilled and had a nice side of baked beans. My kids ordered off the kids’ menu and the chicken tenders had too much breading. My daughter got the salami and cheese plate. She loved the combo of the cheese with the blueberries that were included on her plate. I would definitely go back if I was ever in the neighborhood again.

I would rate this as $$$ not $$. Total for three people was over 110 dollars when counting tip and we only had two beers. Also Unilocal said casual but when we came in wearing t shirts many customers gave us dirty looks and I dont think our waitress liked us being there. Meal was pretty good. The house salad came with honey, lime, poppyseed dressing which tasted way too sugary. Entrée was great, I had the whitefish special. I Would have give 4 stars if it wasn’t for food tasting like there was a lot of sugar added, the price, and service being slightly rude.

The food here was very good. We started out with the scallops appetizer. The spice rub was unexpected and very tasty. Just the right amount of spice. We enjoyed the corn salsa and chipotle aioli. Next we had the shrimp bisque. It was solid. Our meal was the duck tacos. Definitely the highlight. Very rich, we shared and I can’t imagine eating a whole portion alone but it was phenomenal. The cheese was salty, the duck was rich and the chipotle aioli added a bit of spice. Had the Rombauer Chardonnay and it was very nice. Ambiance good and service attentive. Would recommend.

Server was friendly and attentive. Wine selection was vast although we settled for a spotted cow. It was way too hot out to settle for anything less than an ice cold beer! It was the time before dinner so we were only able to order appetizers and small plates. After very little deliberation we had decided on the rack of lamb and golden potatoes.

A trip to Sturgeon Bay must include dinner at the remarkable 136 restaurant and wine bar! The atmosphere is charming and comfortable. The seating is delightful in upright wingback chairs. But it is the food that takes your breath away. Every dish is crafted with excellence. A perfect blend of delectable flavors. Excellent variety and sweet pleasant wait staff.

We dined here on a Saturday night while visiting Door County. They don’t take reservations, but we were lucky they had an open table when we arrived. It’s a very clean establishment with nice décor. The service is excellent. My boyfriend didn’t know what kind of wine he wanted, so our server brought over a sample of two wines she thought he’d like. Their wine selection is quite nice. We started with the scallops appetizer, which was really tasty. For entrees, we ordered the duck tacos and the shrimp tacos thinking we’d share them. The entrees came with a choice of salad and we chose the house salad which featured kiwi and a poppyseed dressing. I really enjoyed the salad and could have eaten just that and been satisfied. The tacos came out shortly after and the portion sizes were quite large. You get three large tacos. The duck was a little dry. I was only able to eat about one and a half of them and I was so full. Dessert looked good, but we were so full we decided to pass. I’d definitely recommend this restaurant to people looking for a nice place to eat in Sturgeon Bay.

Amazing service. Excellent food. Came in 30 minutes before closing for dinner and the service did not mind. Not only did they not mind but treated us like gold. On top of it all the food was amazing. Best in the Bay Area. Highly recommended.

My fiancé and I were in town for the weekend from milwaukee and I am so glad we went to 136 for dinner. Neither of us have had a meal that good in a long time. Awesome surprise in such a small town! It’s a super cute place, cozy and trendy at the same time. We had the lamb appetizer which was served with the most amazing pesto. Lamb was tender and cooked perfectly. For dinner my fiancé had the blackened tenderloin and with every bite raved about how perfectly it was cooked. I had the halibut that came with a crazy good winter vegetable purée… oh em gee. It came across more like a sauce and I literally don’t think I left a single drop on my plate. We both also had a couple really great glasses of wine, obviously. We’ll be going back here every time we go back to Door County, no question!

Thankful that 136 has become such a sturgeon bay staple! I grew up in sturgeon bay and have lived in Milwaukee, Kansas City and Chicago over the past 6 years and even compared to major cities, 136 is an amazing option of both lunch and dinner. They hit the nail on the head with the balance of casual and upscale and their menu has some great items for vegetarians and meat-eaters alike. Some standouts are the shrimp bisque, Cobb salad, lettuce wraps and scallops. My only wish is that they had a full bar and could bring craft cocktails to door county, something I believe would draw an even larger crowd.

Enjoyed Sturgeon Bay for the first time this weekend. Of course we researched Unilocal trying to find the best restaurant to dine at. We were not disappointed by 136! Within minutes of walking in the door, we were greeted, had our name added to the wait list and served a drink. Our wait was very minimum, but well worth every second. Once seated, we were quickly attended to by a very knowledgeable and friendly waitress(she was the best waitress we had our entire Sturgeon Bay visit). Our food was beyond delicious! My love and I shared the Meatballs to start… WOW! We were sad there were only three. I tried the crab cakes with a side of the sweet potato purée. I would bath in the sweet potato purée. It was that outstanding! My main squeeze enjoyed an Italian Pizza, which he thought was great! After dinner I could not resist trying their Red Velvet Cake… Oh my was it worth it! 136 is a must stop if you’re in the area! We will be returning!

We dug around Unilocal looking for an interesting place for a nice Saturday night dinner. We settled on 136. This place was far from settling I must say. Perfect, perfect, perfect. We had both the scallop and brussel sprout apps. They were fantastic. Don’t knock brussel sprouts until you have had them deep fried. Our meals were a veal chop and halibut. Both prepared perfectly. Tie this in with a good wine list and impeccable service and you get a solid 5.

My husband and I were looking for a new place to try when in Sturgeon Bay, though I’m not sure we found our best option. The shrimp bisque was greasy. I know what you’re thinking — bisques can be rich and kind of heavy. You’re right. But this had a oil slick on top of it that no one could excuse as intentional. The lobster risotto was — and I don’t love to use this word when criticising a restaurant — gross. The flavor was oddly very sweet and the preparation was in no way risotto. Risotto is creamy, it runs to fill the container it’s put into. This was slopped on the plate, lumpy, thick, overdone, and unappetizing. The lobster in it, while generous enough, was extremely rubbery. The only saving grace for this review was that my husband enjoyed the blackened tenderloin, served with cheddar grits.(I ate quite a bit of it myself, as I was not pleased with my meal.) The service was fine, the atmosphere was fine, the food is 50⁄50. Stick with the simpler preparations and you should leave happy.

Such a stylish and cute restaurant in Sturgeon Bay. I was very glad to have the opportunity to check it out. The décor is modern and clean, and it’s all table seating, with fresh flowers at the table. We had a bowl of the creamy tomato soup(too much cream, not enough spicing, and I had a crab cake sandwich, and the husb had the chicken sandwich on flat bread. We both really liked our meals, even though the soup wasn’t to my taste(pun intended).

Highly recommend this spot. Greatly appropriate for a wide variety of occasions, or un-occasions! Manages to be approachable, but still with a bit of comfortable, contemporary class. Had a to-die-for scallop appetizer with seasonal corn /avocado, great play of hot /cold. Shrimp bisque was a tad buttery(not the worst thing in the world, of course!), and wasn’t able to enjoy the seafood flavors as much as I would have liked — but the skewered prawns were delicate, flavorful and perfectly cooked. Nice wine list too. Several longer tables /community spots, might be great when they’re crowded, but a Thursday night was 5 or so tables of guests, out of 15ish total + bar. Top notch décor, service, and menu selections. Lovely long bar at the entrance. Small bites are available at the tables along with dinner, too. Great new addition to the community! We’ll be back!

1 + 3 + 6 = 10. Or if you are into numerology, that gets you 1. You get the idea. Great place, any way you view it. And thank you Unilocal. We drove in to Sturgeon Bay latish in the evening and saw what we thought would be good if the reviews were any indication. The restaurant is small with spacious tables and seating. Our waiter responded with an actual opinion about wine and it was knowledgeable. Duck was ordered as one entrée and scallops the other. I had the scallops – fresh and firm served with bayou butter which I had not had before. Think butterscotch – not too sweet, very creative. The duck looked good. A positive point to make – this was ordered with a gluten free request – they turned it into that. Very accommodating. For dessert – espresso cake – rich, moist, good. Beyond just looking good. Coffee was a very nice finish. (A word of advice to the restaurant: there is an a/c fan that blows onto one table(it was ours). The building controls it, not the restaurant. I think that a magnetic vent could be found to direct the air upwards when it is not necessary – just saying.)
