Wonderful, professional, classic and tasty. Our stay at the Inn was warm, and nurturing. The owner and staff cared about needs. Deb was particularly helpful. We plan on making this a annual tradition.

I thought that we were lucky to book this place at a reasonable rate almost at the last minute in late August, so wondered whether perhaps there were something wrong with it. There was not: both Bs were perfectly satisfying. We stayed in Billy Mitchell, the lowest-priced room and also the most aesthetically pleasing. It was a bit small but otherwise comfortable. Breakfast is served downstairs in a private dining room just for hotel guests, separate from the attached restaurant. Two of our three breakfasts were excellent; the middle one was bland but generally fine. Guests are offered a choice of two entrees, but there is some customization allowed, such as to omit the meat and/or cheese from an item, or to get fruit instead of potatoes on the side. My favorite entrée was a ham and vegetable quiche, and the best thing overall about the breakfasts were the baked goods. In particular, we loved the blueberry muffin, which tasted so light and fluffy and was not weighed down by too much butter or sugar. My favorite aspect of the stay was the upstairs sitting room. This is a boon to a couple with disparate wake-up times, providing a quiet, comfortable place to read during the early morning hours. And it couldn’t be more handsome and cozy too, with a fireplace and an eclectic mix of antique furniture and country-ish decorative touches(see photos). I spent hours in the luxurious leather armchair and ottoman, but enjoyed the rocking chair too. They also have two bookshelves full of volumes actually worth reading(in case you forget your own book), about half of which were published in my lifetime and the other half of which are older than my grandparents. For instance, I spotted a 1921 Collier’s Encyclopedia set. How cool is that? There are also DVDs and board games, and I imagine that this place makes a wonderful refuge from winter weather. Other random notes: + Cheerful, helpful staff + Convenient location in downtown Sturgeon Bay + On-site parking, with easy additional street parking to front and side + Check-in is officially until 8, but there is someone in the office until 10 + Breakfast hours 7:30 to 10 + Three lovely soaps provided in the room + Air conditioning easy to use and very responsive + Exhaust fan in the bathroom + Functional opening window + Binder goes beyond the usual«where to eat and drink nearby»; for example, several pages of interesting material on Billy Mitchell – the man, the myth, the legend +/-No closet but a chifferobe with real hangers +/-Shower and toilet behind a door, sink separate +/-Ice bucket provided, but ice available only from the front desk +/-Free wifi, but spotty connectivity — The water is really, really soft, not ideal for washing — It also isn’t very good to drink straight from the tap — Shower head only about six feet high

Loved this place. I can only repeat everything the first reviewer said except we did not have any problems with people making noise in the common area. Gail was a wonderful hostess and travel guide. The one drawback for us was the street noise at night. This is an urban location and cars and motorcycles apparently don’t have to have mufflers in this area as they are very loud. The inn tries to compensate with double glass windows, but it was still a distraction.

Inn at Cedar Crossing is adorable. It’s certainly heavy on the country-kitsch, so if you were hoping for a sleek urban enclave, I’d probably just skip Door County altogether. The breakfast is delicious. I’m not kidding, I could have eaten their freshly baked scones all day. The rooms are well appointed– a little on the small side– but that is to be expected of a b&b rather than big conventional resort. In general, we got everything we had hoped for– which is saying something because choosing a b&b online can be a challenge. Last year, we chose a place that looked darling on its website, but was actually kind of chintzy in reality. Inn at Cedar Crossing is just as lovely in person as it is in the photos. The restaurant downstairs is also quite good. The only drawback I would note is the communal area amidst the rooms upstairs. A group of people congregated there for an evening of wine and cards and it was a little loud. Sturgeon Bay is a bit of a hike from other sections of the county. So, if you are expecting to head to Ephraim/Egg Harbor/etc be prepared for a 30 min drive.(It’s quite scenic). In general, for the money, this place is a total steal. Perfect for a weekend out of the city.
