Bluefront Cafe

A cute and cozy café serving a variety of sandwiches, salads and comfort food from meatloaf and fish tacos to Asian noodle bowls and burgers.
We stopped in for lunch on a Wednesday and got seated right away. Parking is on the street but wasn’t a problem. Food was healthy tasting and very fresh. Service was a bit on the slow side but overall we were happy with our visit.

Food was wonderful. Really enjoyed the fish tacos and turkey Brie. Would definitely come back. Quaint little spot in Sturgeon Bay. Take the time to check it out.

We highly recommend this as a lunch place, dinner menu looks great too, first time here. Great ham on pretzel sandwich with curried lentil soup and wife is swooning over the mufaletta. Homemade lemonade. It’s a light and airy, new feeling location. Parking kind of a hassle on the street but worth it. This will be a regular hangout for us. Men’s room clean and perfect too.

Amazing restaurant. My girlfriend and I went two nights in a row because of how amazing the food is. Service was wonderful and the overall restaurant was clean and colorful!

So pretty, and nice enough for any ladies event. Nothing will disappoint, and many things will charm. Super stylish. Clean, with high quality food. Not stuffy, but Quiet when I was there. Love the pretty blue glass table water decanters. Check the menu to see how you feel about prices. Prices on quality deserts were a little too high, but quality was good and we still indulged! Say Yes to the Brule & small cookies. Clean bathrooms, of course. Great location. Parking across street was plentiful when I was there, but maybe not in the tourist season crush.

This past weekend was our second time at Bluefront while passing through Sturgeon Bay and is becoming a family favorite. Food is both fresh and unique, restaurant décor is nice, service is friendly and location is great!

That was an awesome lunch. We would definitely come back. Totally worth veering off the beaten path.

I recently stopped in for dinner with my sister and we thought the restaurant was beautiful and the service was very friendly. They have a few vegetarian options but the menu is very meat and dairy centric so they weren’t able to accommodate my vegan diet beyond some really basic veggie salads and sandwiches (I can only eat so much raw veggies and hummus). I hope they have more options next time I visit, as I’d heard it’s a lovely restaurant.

This place is amazing, I have been coming here for ever, Its my goto spot for lunch. Everything is absolutely perfect, everything is fresh and well prepared. My only complaint is dinner, it doesn’t feel well structured for dinner, including the menu, it’s like they just ran lunch later in the day. I wish they had a more traditional dinner menu. They do have one of the better bottled beer and wine available in the area.

Probably my favorite place in Sturgeon Bay of the 3 restaurants I managed to make it to. I really enjoyed the old school organic/​vegetable orientated menus where as, I’m used to tempeh/​tofu as a meat substitute — a portobello mushroom is used here and it works quite well! The reuben I got was very good and the kale salad was probably the best usage of kale I’ve experienced. Service was fast and friendly while boasting fair prices and clean bathrooms. No complaints here.

I had been to this restaurant once before and been very impressed, this experience was no difference, with an eclectic menu of hot and cold dishes, the decisions are difficult here. I ended up ordering the meatloaf sandwich which was really good. Any coffee lovers are bound to appreciate bottomless organic coffee, I know I did.
Overall, this place did it again and will remain a mainstay in my rotation when I come up to sturgeon bay!

Hands down the best place to eat lunch or dinner in Sturgeon Bay. The servers are professional and efficient. The food is fresh, innovative (for door county) and delicious. If you are going to go for lunch I suggest trying to get their on the early side they can fill up. My favorite lunch dish is the quinoa salad with chicken.
For dinner my favorite thing is their beer selection, lost in a world of PBR and miller light come a breath fresh of air.
For reference I have been in Sturgeon Bay for work for the last 2 years. I have ate at every restaurant in southern door county many times. Blue front is the ONLY restaurant I get excited about when I go there. I would take Blue Front over Donnys (Gliden), Nightingale or anywhere!
I promise you will not be disappointed!

I’ve eaten here before and the food was pretty good. Nothing too great. Also, the wait staff was again just okay, nothing special.
Last time I went, I ordered the vegetarian burrito and was very disappointed with what I received. Everything was great on the burrito until they decided to put lettuce inside of it. All of the lettuce was soggy and ruined the Burrito.
Tonight I decided to try the bluefront Café one more time. However when we arrived we were told that there was going to be a one hour wait. I then looked around the room to see that only half of the tables were full. Overall not very impressed. If tourists want to nice place to go eat, I recommend trying someplace else.

Stopped in for lunch upon our arrival to Door County on a Thursday and there were people waiting to get in at 12:30. We were seated within a few minutes and enjoyed a nice glass of wine while waiting for lunch. Excellent variety of menu choices and while we didn’t indulge in dessert, the table next to us did and it looked delicious. Food was very flavorful and fresh — well prepared.

Absolutely amazing! The food was incredibly fresh, delicious and most was organic or eco friendly. The staff was friendly and helpful. Our server offered my friend to try a sampler of beer before she bought one and was very informative on how the food was made. Also the atmosphere was inviting and unassuming. My friends and I LOVED this place :)

I would go back here in a second if I’m in the area. I would likely even go out of my way to come here again.
I had the Thai Quinoa Salad and a cup of soup, which was a Butternut Squash bisque that day. It isn’t often that you find yourself full from a salad and soup lunch, but I was SOOOOO full. The salad dressing was amazing! Lots of great fresh veggies and cashews and yum!
Our waitress was also possibly one of the most helpful waitresses ever. She spent a good five minutes giving recommendations on other things to do and places to visit in the area.

All I am saying is that we ate here on Sunday and when back again on Tuesday. It’s that good.

Walking in this place has a great atmosphere. Small homey vibe.
I ordered the ranchero burrito which comes loaded with just about everything you could want in and on a burrito. The burrito was huge in appearance and taste. My only little complaint is that it was loaded more with beans than meat but all in all the burrito was still delicious.
After that battle in which I conquered the entire burrito, I decided to also splurge and get some dessert. I decided on the vanilla bean crème brule with fresh berries on top. The dessert was also very good with the crème and the fresh berries mixing together very well.
All in all in a very satisfying dinner after a long road trip up here which is just what I needed.

We heard great things about Bluefront Café, and we were not disappointed! I got the smoked turkey sandwich, which had great flavor, and my wife got the Bluefront burger, which has a grass fed patty and tastes great (the fries are unique too!).
Other things we loved:
— The casual, clean, and simple atmosphere
— Friendly wait staff
— Location, in walking distance to shopping
— Got lots of good food
— Owners are family focused who have a passion for good environmentally friendly food
Things that we didn’t love, but not worth taking a star off for:
— $ 1 ‘sharing fee’ for couples who share a single meal
— Limited menu selection
We had a great time! Great stop to check out.

This is an upscale café with a European ambiance, nicely decorated with mosaic tile floors. My wife and I came here for lunch on a Saturday. It was not busy, in fact there was one other couple dining when we were seated. By the time we left, there was a wait.
I had difficulty deciding what I wanted so the waitress gave us a «few minutes». It was at least 10 minutes before she returned. I ordered the Grilled Cheese sandwich, my wife ordered an Asian chicken wrap. The grilled cheese was the best one I’ve had anywhere. It was aged cheddar and baby Swiss toasted between 2 pieces of sourdough bread with tomatoes and Dijon mustard. My wife really liked her wrap. For the side we were offered a choice of homemade kettle chips or dill slaw, and for a dollar extra we could get French fries.
This is why only 3 stars. I didn’t need more than a few minutes to decide what I wanted. The waitress should have noticed the menus folded up sitting on the corner of the table sooner than she did. You shouldn’t have to pay extra for French fries when chips are included with the meal. I also thought the place was a little pricy. 2 sandwiches and 2 sodas came to almost 24 bucks.
The food is great, but I would rather go somewhere less expensive for lunch.
