Excellent food, great interior, lovely people. We were their last walk ins but they treated us like we had reservations. They generously gave us an appetizer sampler when we only ordered pakoras. We ordered the lamb tikka, lamb kabobs on a sizzling cast iron platter, and chicken tikka — all very tasty and large portions — lots to take home. The naan was soft and buttery. The chai was spicy. We had a great time! The picture of the Rajphut follows you around the room — a big portrait of their leader.

Our food is always amazing and the servers are friendly and very helpful. We really enjoy dining here. Tonight we had the jalfrezi for me and the tikka masala for my husband. Delicious! And for dessert, gajjar halwa and kheer.

Very surprised how authentic this restaurant was. We have tried for different of their meals, all curry and absolutely LOVE them. The wait staff is professional and the service is very fast. This was the first place I had ever tried Naan bread and the chilly one is delicious. I would highly reccomend this place to anyone looking for authentic food in the area.

This was the first Indian food place I’ve been to in Virginia. It was amazing, I had their goat and chicken. I don’t remember the different flavorings that we picked, but I was so delighted by how well they spice the food. Its not the spicy taste that people just assume they go for, but more like a really good seasoning flavor. You can get the food to be as spicy as you’d like cause he asked me how spicy did I want my goat, but I really just wanted to try the goat with the flavoring that I asked for with a little bit of spicy to it. They also have this bread that seems like Pita bread and it’s like their version of garlic bread. It’s to die for.

Really good food. Their buffet doesn’t have the spicy cuisine like the menu but it is still phenomenal! You can order stuff from the menu during buffet hours(lunch only) and it’s still as good as dinner service. My wife, daughter and I absolutely love the garlic cilantro naan bread.

We have been here several times since they opened. Every time we have found the portions as compared to the price to be way off. We got two entrees and an order of onion naan for take out and it was $ 60! We called ahead, when we got there we waited 5 minutes before someone finally greeted us. We saw a bag sitting on the counter, which we found out was ours. The waiter said. They had no phone service and could. Not take a credit card. Then he said someone else had to take our card, write down the number and call the company with h is phone. He then said, just a minute, walked away and started waiting on a table! When he came back, I said I would pay cash as I was not very happy by this time and did not want to give them my credit card!, He said, okay, took the cash and walked away!!! I asked for my food at which time the other waiter pointed to the bag that was sitting in the counter all this time and said, that is yours. Well the bag was completely ripped so I could not even carry it by the handle. Fortunately when we did get home the food was still lukewarm. I heated everything and overall the food was very good. We had chicken madras, mixed tandoori grill and Dahl. We probably will not go back.

I was pleasantly surprised to find this restaurant in my neck of the woods. In an area plagued by chains, this place has the feel of a family owned restaurant. I really enjoyed the atmosphere and the space in the restaurant. Nothing is worse than having to walk sideways between tables! We started with vegetable somosas which were very good. Even my super picky son ate them and loved them. Then we shared the vegetable Korma and it was perfection. Not sure where the complaints come from on serving sizes? We split a dish and it was more than enough. The garlic naan was very good also. I really love my naan. The staff was pleasant and helpful and we had no issues at all. All in all, it was a really nice experience.

I loved this place! Nice ambiance, décor. clean, friendly service, great food and great prices! My husband and I had a lunch date. We’ve been wanting to go to this restaurant but the kids are not fans of Indian food. It was buffet style. I am not a fan of buffets but this one was amazing! I eat mostly vegetarian and they had many options but also had chicken and lamb. Salad options were nice, fresh with different sauce options: tamarind sauce, mango chutney, raita, etc. They also had soup and dessert. I was hooked on their curried chickpeas, basmati rice, naan bread also potato tikka masala… Everything was delicious and authentic. I didn’t have room for dessert, may be next time. Also the price for lunch was under $ 10 per person!

We are frequent customer of this place. We love it. New chef is pretty awesome. My favorite order goes something like this. Kingfisher beers Chole batura appetizer Butter chicken Dal makhni goes well rice that comes with curries. Shahi chicken /or shahi paneer very creamy Lamb kheema masala Garlic naan Ask for raw onions chili and lemons Squeeze lemon salt pepper on onions and chilies and eat it with your meal. Finish it up with creamy kheer! Note get everything medium hot… we indians dont eat everything hot.. it has to be spicy(ie full of spicies= tasty) not always hot. You have to try Haywards 5000 beer delicious! Special thanks to Staff Shankar and Raj for always taking good take care of us and giving us excellent recommendations. Hope this helps:) Cheers!

«Indian food is like classical music raga– it takes time to build up to a crescendo.» ― Shobhaa Dé I love food, I love to learn about different cultures, and I love to write. When you combine all of those things together, a wonderful blend of words can be a powerful image. My problem is that I am not very familiar with Indian food, and I am worried that I won’t be able to explain the dishes that I experienced the other day at Rajput Indian Cuisine(RIC). With that in mind, hopefully, you will accept my shortcomings, and can glean some information from my review. Owner Paul Chhabra opened the original RIC in 1999, which is located in Norfolk. The second location was started in early 2014, next to Regal Cinemas in Suffolk. I knew RIC was opened, and I kept meaning to visit. I think I was a little scared – about the wishy-washy reviews and the food. I had tried Indian food once a few years ago, and I make my own curry at home, but that is the extent of my Indian food adventures. I decided to try something new the other day, and since RIC offers a lunch buffet for $ 8.75, I figured why not? Naan: While I am not familiar with Indian food, I *was* familiar with naan – restaurants, store-bought, and even made my own once. RIC does have naan on their buffet, but since I was there at opening, it wasn’t out yet. The staff knew I was waiting for the naan so they brought me my own basket of fresh, warm, buttery naan.(#OMG! Factor) This is the real deal, folks. Naan should be made in a Tandoor Oven, and at RIC, they use a charcoal-fired stainless-steel tandoor oven. Whatever you do, make sure you get naan while you’re there. 5* Tandoori Chicken(TC): I love dark meat, but this dish was maybe my least favorite. It was okay – I just didn’t really like the flavor of the spices. I also think that most(if all) of the chicken dishes were a bit overcooked; it is a buffet after all. I didn’t finish with the chicken thigh. 3* Tandoori Chicken Cole Slaw: I didn’t know what this dish was until I got home and checked out their menu. I’m sure it’s not an «authentic» Indian dish(*wink*), but I really liked it! I’m a big fan of Cole Slaw, and it was a great way to use up their leftover TC. I enjoyed the TC much better in this dish. 4* Chicken Makhani a.k.a. Butter Chicken(CM): Rich, buttery, with a creamy tomato sauce makes this popular dish delicious. CM is made with pureed tomatoes; spices cooked in butter; and then finished with cream. Oh yeah – and the grilled, marinated chicken, of course! I ate mine top of basmati rice, and it was definitely my favorite bite(except the naan). It had lots of wonderful flavor, and not too salty. 4.5* Chicken Curry: The curry was good, but I actually think I make a better curry; I like mine to have a bit of a kick. However, that’s just my own preference and I would eat it again. 4* Eggplant Fritter: I had never heard or seen fritters like this before. It was meh – I was probably supposed to use some sauce with it or something, but I ate it by itself. Eggplant doesn’t have a lot of flavor and the batter wasn’t very crispy. 2* Service and ambiance: The décor is beautiful and the music was a nice touch. RIC has an upscale feel, and it would be a great date night option. I felt very relaxed and the service was fantastic. One little note: I love their beaten copper water cups! Maybe because I’m a simple girl, but those glasses made my meal special. I will be back soon to check out RIC’s other delectable items on their buffet. Next time, I will have to refrain from eating too much naan. Whether you’re an Indian food expert or a novice(like me), I highly recommend RIC as a quick and inexpensive meal for lunch.

Had been here for dinner and review is as follows. Was late and got in just before closing but the owner and waiter were very courteous and never showed it on face of on action. They were pleasing and welcomed us in with a smile. We ordered nans, curries, biryani etc… within next 15 mins everything came out fresh and hot. Taste was good, flavor was there, nans were really good, curries were spicy but could have been even more spicy. Biryani was not good, it was more of an pulav and taste was not up to mark. Service: Great Food: Okay to good Ambiance: Good I’m pleased with the service more than the food. Food was fine typical north-indian restaurant if you are an dum biryani fan then do not order biryani here and you will be satisfied with the food. «I will come back here again»

Have visited this restaurant several times, both for lunch and dinner. Love their food, especially the lunch buffet! Our waiter was nice, but seemed a bit unsure of himself. Perhaps he was new. I found the rice pudding serving too small and way over priced — also too runny. The waiter was understanding and took the pudding off of our bill. Go for the lunch buffet, you’ll love it!

I was very excited Suffolk was getting its first Indian restaurant(of course, 1 month before I move…)! I had been to Rajput in Norfolk for takeout a few times so I was anticipating great things. The décor inside is beautiful and setup to accommodate a large lunch buffet crowd. Right when you walk in there is a sign that says HAPPYHOUR430 – 630, however, that only applies to the 4 seats at the small bar area up front. Annoying. The online menu is very expansive but when we sat down we noticed the menu was completely different and a bit more limited. We opted for the trio of naan with a side of raiti sauce. Excellent. They charged $ 1 more(which I thought was weird) because we ordered it as an appetizer. My husband ordered from the tandoori menu, which is really just kind of like ordering sizzling fajitas, and got the chicken. His sauce didn’t have much heat. I ordered the chicken balti, served with rice with a medium hot level. I dont know if they’re watering down for Americans but it was NOT spicy, barely had any heat. Otherwise, it was decent. The real fail here is the piss poor service, which is so unfortunate because the wife of the owner is so lovely. The main server, an arrogant man who will not make eye contact with you, just saunters up when he feels like it and asks what you want. That’s it. When I asked the difference btwn the Tandoori and other entrees he barely gave me an answer. Couldn’t be bothered. I can’t imagine coming here and never having tried Indian food and attempting to learn and ask questions and getting such rude and dismissive service by this man. There is also an older gentleman who comes around and fills up water, who is very friendly and interacts with the kids, but he doesn’t speak a lick of English. It’s too bad the only english speaking server is the rudest one in the place. I think they were able to get away with rude service in Norfolk but to survive in Suffolk they will need to humble themselves a bit more and be willing to answers questions and be helpful to the country folk of Suffolk. It could have been a fantastic experience if it wasn’t for the terrible service. Since I will be moving shortly, I’m over it, but if I were staying here I’d be pretty bummed to have this be the only Indian restaurant in town.

Garlic naan is to die for and amazing. PLEASEORDERTHISEVERYTIME!!! Tandoori kebab appetizer trio was not as good as I was hoping. The chicken was over cooked and a bit dry. The beef was okay and came out in a ground beef skewer. The fish was tender, and with the sweet and chutney sauce, was the best part. Unfortunately the amount given for $ 10 was too little. I wouldn’t recommend this appetizer. The Madra(sweet chutney and cocunut curry) which I got with chicken was okay; had what you would expect with curries and Indian tastes… okay tasting I guess. Patia curry(sweet mango curry) was very interesting and I would considering getting this over the Madra. I was not happy with the lamb that came with the food… we had a chicken or lamb option and everyone should go with the chicken. The two curries came with a rice and I was not happy with that as well. I am a Persian guy and have had plenty of rice… this rice was just dry and bland. The desert sampler was interested… they had a sweet tapioca(my fav), a fried donut(ehhhhh), and a carrot cake smashed thing(ehhhhhh, but my buddy liked it). I would just get the tapioca larger dessert. Honestly, just writing this review has made me bump this place down from a 3 to 2 stars. I was really hoping to give them a better review because they are new, but I was pretty disappointed, except for the Garlic Naan.
