I bought a grill on Memorial Day weekend and they promised to deliver on ⁶⁄₃ but still didn’t deliver by ⁶⁄₁₇. I called 3 times and twice asked for the manager. When I asked for the manager, someone called Victor answered and couldn’t find the paperwork. He then found it but said that it was the delivery company’s liability and not OSH’s…WTFish!!! He then said they didn’t need to call me in advance, it all depends on their schedule and how senior the drivers were. I told him it was on the order form that the delivery company would call before 5pm the day before and he didn’t believe me till I told him exactly where it was on the form.
Very very bad experience and no sense of customer service. I told him I was not happy and may not shop there anymore and he just said he hopes I would change my mind in the future.

Nice, new, not well known — yet!
I was doubtful I would be able to find duplicates for some furniture hardware. I brought in a sample and was able to match it quite easily. They also have knife sharpening and all kinds of other services, as soon as you walk in.
The nursery is my favorite place because they play recordings of bird song.

This is such a fun place to visit. They always have a greeter who calls you a neighbor not a customer or client. They are very very helpful and go out of their way to fill your need of anything you are shopping for. They have a section of old time candies that my grandkids love to visit. I go there 2 to 3 times a week so getting to know the people who work there. Today I had a nice man named Tom who helped me in the lighting department. He even called other stores to see if I can get one more light that I needed.

I finally made it to the new OSH on Hollenbeck in Sunnyvale. It was great! The place looked wonderful with all of the new fixtures. The staff was a lot more competent than the staff at the other Sunnyvale store has been lately. I will go to this one from now on.

I am so happy this OSH opened up near my house. It has a good amount of stock and the staff are very friendly and helpful. If I find myself wandering to look for something, it only takes a few minutes for someone to come up and ask me if they can help me find something. I wander in with my dog and the staff always seem happy to pet him. I’ve also seen other people bring their dogs so like many hardware stores, this place is pet friendly if you happen to take your pet everywhere with you (or if you’re always busy working and want to take the dog out any chance you get). Anyway, lots of paint selections in their section and with some help I was able to find a good paint combo for a room project. They have a great plant policy too if you kill your new green friend. I’m steadily building a succulent collection with the sales they’re always having. Become a member and you get $ 5 rewards from purchases. You can combine these so that’s awesome. Parking is great, it’s in a shopping center so it’s not an issue. They’re open relatively late so you can do an emergency run at night. They seem to always have sales, $ 1 for a gallon of bleach? What. Anyway, it’s a good place to go and stock up on supplies for around the house. For the pet owner, they also have a pet supplies section and I often see things like long lines and pooper scoopers for sale.

A brief history lesson…
For the longest time, this building was occupied by a Safeway. They closed sometime in April-​May 2014 and a new, more expansive Safeway opened up down the street on Homestead. For a while, the building was vacant. Fred, who runs the watch repair place two doors down, told me that rumors were spreading about a 24 Hour Fitness coming in sometime soon. Looks like that didn’t pan out, which is a pity because it would’ve been great to have a 24 Hour Fitness here to lessen the crowds at the other ones nearby.
Anyway…
But having an OSH here is good too. It means I don’t have to travel as far to the other OSH on Sunnyvale-​Saratoga. I’ve been here twice now. The first time was to buy a cyclamen and the second time was to buy some fluorescent lightbulbs. Both times, the customer service has been out of this world. The lady in the nursery helped me to pick out the best, most vibrant cyclamen they had in stock. And, on my second visit, they found me the exact fluorescent lightbulb I needed and they allowed me to turn in my old one for recycling.
It’s a nice touch also when you take into account that they treat you as a personal friend, rather than just another customer. They even called me their «neighbor» when I walked in the other day. Can’t remember the last time someone, aside from my actual neighbors and Mr. Rogers, called me that. I’ll take it.

Holy moly this place is huge. It’s like being in a candy store of hardware. I was looking for some replacement lights in my kitchen but I could have stayed in the power tools section for a while. As someone who did a lot of sculpture in school I guess seeing all the tools started getting the art gears going. Probably spent more time than I needed there but it was cool to see a brand new fully stocked store
