I can’t believe I paid $ 14.79 for this bullshit! I asked for a chicken and steak combo… I got meat crumbs and a bunch of gummy ass rice… COMPLETEWASTE!!! DON’T GOTHEHERE!!!

My wife and I went here for the first time for lunch on a Wednesday around two pm. There were three others at our hibachi table who we were chatting with about things that were strange about the place. We wanted to order sushi but were told that the sushi chef was gone for two hours and wouldn’t be back. The menu had several printing mistakes with various things that did or didn’t come with the meal. The very nice waitress was trying to explain everything but the way it was printed was very confusing. We both thought for lunch the prices were high for what we got compared to others in the area. The hibachi chef was very cordial and the food was good even though the chicken was a little overcooked. The chicken was plentiful but the veggies were very skimpy. They did have great ginger sauce but no hot mustard sauce. It was replaced with a foamy white onion sauce which was new to us and we didn’t try it. We had never been to a Japanese restaurant where the fried rice was extra and white rice was served first in a bowl. It was quite cold by the time our meal was served up. While we were eating the hostess was arguing/yelling at a couple at another table. She was very, very loud and unprofessional. Our poor waitress apologized for her. When it came time to pay the bill we had to ask for a receipt and were given a pencil to sign our credit card bill. That has never happened before. We won’t be back.

We were sat right away in the sushi area. We waited for 15 minutes and not one employee acknowledged us. Despite 3 servers standing in the galley area talking to each other the entire time. We ended up leaving.

Decent meal, won’t come back though, there are much better options for sushi in the area.

The first time I went to O’Samurai(at its former location) I fell in love. Unfortunately, every time I have gone since I have been more and more disappointed. The other day I went for the second time since the new location opened. My husband and I usually get our own meals, but occasionally choose to split something and pay the $ 4.50 up charge for our own soups/salads. Apparently this has been discontinued, since when we ordered the filet mignon two weeks ago to share, we were astounded by the portion sizes, which have been reduced. Previously, only the steak was split and each of us would receive the same generous amount of rice and vegetables as each person normally would. This time around the chef was careful to literally split the portions in half… I later learned that the option to pay a little extra($ 4.50) and share has disappeared. Not pleased. Regardless of the above, this restaurant has gone downhill by making even more cuts. Previously, each meal came with a salad AND onion soup. Now you have to choose only one and if you want another you have to pay for it?! Really, those things are so cheap you choose to use those to make cuts? Customer dissatisfaction isn’t worth the few cents you’re saving, owners. In the past,(when purchasing my own meal, not sharing), I have noticed that I personally receive less fried rice than the rest of the table. I’m not crazy, other people have noticed this as well. Perhaps it is due to my small size; I don’t look like I have a big appetite but I DO and I have watched nearly every chef scoop huge portions of fried rice for the entire table then eyeball me and give me a smaller portion, then go back around and give everyone else extra. The price of the Filet mignon meal increased from $ 21.95 to $ 23.95 and now features LESS steak, LESS vegetables, and minus 1 soup or salad! Sure sounds like I’m getting a lot for my $ 23.95, eh? Sorry, I used to love this place but the food, and the terrible, unfriendly service have gotten to be so off-putting that I would rather drive an additional 20 – 30 minutes to the more expensive Benihana in Dearborn because at least there I know I can count on good service and decent portion sizes.

i didn’t know this place existed until i happened to go to their next door neighbor two days earlier. the smell was so freaking delicious that i decided then and there that i would go back and check it out and hey, today i did. went after church around 1:30ish and as i walked in there were partially dead or dead poinsettias on the floor along with a sloppy desk full of advertisements and magazines. ok. place was totally empty and i was greeted and asked whether i wanted sushi or teppanyaki. i said sushi and was directed to the right and was told i could sit anywhere. got the menu and a sheet for the sushi rolls. first thing i did was look at the grease and dried food on the menu. looked at the dessert menu and again with dried food and grease. i cannot stand that. they are laminated menus, during the down time and/or when the staff is putting together the silverware all you have to do is get some soap and water and wipe the menus off. but i digress. i knew i wasn’t going to get what i wanted because the gyoza was described as fried dumpling. *sigh* gyoza isn’t deep fried, it actually is steamed and then fried on one side on a flattop grill. so. yeah. there was that. wasn’t pleased that there were no pictures to accompany the descriptions. the vegetarian options were non existent. it’s a cold day and i really wanted a bowl of noodles and broth and some vegetables. i asked the waitress but she said they don’t have any. so i asked about the vegetable noodles(for $ 15.95!!) and those didn’t come in broth. ok. i ordered the vegetable tempura, gyoza, plain fried rice, and Philadelphia roll. the tempura was good and came with broccoli, onion rings, zucchini and sweet potato. the gyoza was your standard, just a touch greasy, dumpling. the roll came in 8 pcs($ 7.95) and were rolled well. i get this anytime i want sushi and here there was a lot of cream cheese that it was the only thing i could taste on a few of the pieces. the fried rice was seasoned and tasty, very hefty portion. wish i would have asked for more vegetables to be put in it. i would have gotten dessert however, like every other so called Japanese place, there are no desserts that are pastries filled with adzuki beans. it’s the standard molten cake, lemon something, and deep fried cheesecake. really? there were a few others that i glanced over that didn’t stand out(and i love me some cheesecake) but there was no way i was paying almost $ 8 for dessert. i read another review about the prices being too much and i would have to agree. my bill came to a little over $ 29. i know i have never spent that much on myself with sushi and sides. actually probably $ 10 -$ 12 less so i was trying to figure out what i was paying for. name? quality? portion? service? service. i don’t think she introduced herself. i just know her name as ‘S’ since that’s what was put on the top of my receipt. seemed like she was in a rush and wanted to hurry up with my order. she never really came to my table, she stood at a table next to mine, kinda standoffish. again, i was the only person in the place so it’s not like she was waiting on multiple tables. ok. brought my drink. brought my food. never came back to check on me. asked if i needed a box standing at another table. came back with a box for my leftovers and the bill. um, ok. yeah, customer service is a bit lacking. just the basic and i guess that’s all one can ask for. and… my tip reflected that. all i wanted was gyoza, a bowl of veggies/noodles in broth and dessert. guess i gotta go back to Japan or Atlanta for that. i was really hoping this would be my go to place for Asian food but nope. the search continues…

Seriously one of the best meals I have ever eaten! We had the chicken with fried rice cooked on the hibachi grill! The chef put on an excellent show for all of us with a few very fun surprises!!! Definitely worth the money. We will be going again!!!

This is not the place to get sushi. Everything else was great but the sushi was really mediocre. The rice was dried out, the fish wasn’t cut thin enough and the flavor lacked. Come here for the hibachi grill for sure though.

This place has great food and awesome service. But I wasn’t happy with the prices. A little over priced for lunch on a Saturday. They have no lunch specials on the weekend. Which I don’t understand cause there was only like 10 people in there dining. I Guarantee if they had lunch special on the weekend this place would be booming.

Very standard hibachi fare but the chefs really did some interesting tricks that I haven’t seen at other hibachi places. Kinda pricy but it was worth it.

This place is alright, but there are way better sushi places in the area. Kinda overpriced and every roll they have seems to be a variation of the California roll. Atmosphere is lacking too.

RUDE! OMG, Rude! I called to place an order and the lady hung up on me after telling me what’s in their sushi roll. I didn’t even have the chance to order so Now that I’m looking at it, maybe I should have went with the blue or yellow. Comments are welcome, wondering if I should change it. when I called back and asked why she hung up on me, she had the nerve to say, «because we’re very busy.» Really! As if I’m not a paying customer. This was a to go order, the dine in service is just as bad. I went there two years ago and never stepped foot in there again. The food is good but honestly not great.

Awesome chicken fried rice and sushi. Take out is always hot and dine-in is always nice as well. Much more economical than Bennihana, and quicker too. Their soda seems to be bad every time we visit though. Out of CO2 or syrup. Not a big deal.

We were regulars at the original O’Samurai. The food is delicious, both sushi and hibachi entrees. They should hire more wait staff because our waitress was overloaded with tables even though it wasn’t super busy.

Waited forever for this place to open back up! Today I called to place a carry out order and was denied because they don’t offer carry out over the phone… So, I went up there to place my to go order(we have been really craving this place and waiting patiently for its relaunch) and was surprised to hear my total to be almost $ 100 because I was getting it to go. We left. $ 75 for my 3 meals I thought was fair… even after I was denied a smaller meal for my 10 year old… but almost $ 100 for carry out? VERYDISAPPOINTED. Anyone have any recommendations for a similar place that won’t try to over charge me?

I was worried that they were not gonna open back up but they did ^_^ They had relocated next to Panera Bread. My first time going to the old O Samarai was when they were on Eureka and Pardee Rd. I thought the old place was amazing and could compete with other Japanese Restaurants around the area. I still feel the same way with this new location. We only had sushi but the 4 rolls that we had were amazing, delicious and fresh. The service was great with friendly and attentive staff. Will definitely be coming back to try their other rolls.

Hello and welcome to the O’samurai reboot. Just like the movies, they pay homage to the old concept, scrap it and re-emerge as a brand new product. I’m not really quite familiar which came first, the chicken or the egg… Anyway, this restaurant is the teppanyaki extension of the legendary Black Pine Tree a few miles east bound. There they specialize doing sushi, here they specialize in the art of teppanyaki. That’s where they set the griddle on fire and bang their utensils around while making interesting noises. Please be courteous and applaud their performance. Anyway, we came for sushi which was really wonderful. All 4 rolls were top knotch. The dining area was stunningly beautiful, the whole place was hella clean and welcoming. Service was direct and on point and life is always amazing. Next time we’ll sit at a teppanyaki table and try it out. Thank you for taking time to read my review. Follow me on instagram @rodtorres3 Weeeeeeeeeee!
