Best Sushi in town but bad service. The Sushi Chefs are wonderful, but we almost always have trouble with the wait staff.

When this place is on their game — they put LA Restaurants to shame. Try the Heart Attack; Volcano Roll; Shrimp Tempura Roll; Green Muscles; Seared Albacore Tataki, Fried Red Snapper. Booth seating and better servers will increase overall profile.

Food was good but sushi wasn’t wrapped tight and for the price you really didn’t get that much. Stick with big tuna.

Who knew there was anywhere great to eat in Tehachapi? This restaurant was amazing! Sushi was fresh and tasted as good as anywhere in the big city. Great service, good prices.

Our favorite restaurant in Tehachapi. If we could afford it we would likely eat here weekly.

Had the bento box lunch. It was just, ‘good’or ‘ok’. Service was friendly, and quick. Menu prices look a little pricey, wouldn’t come other than for lunch.

My family comes here for special occasions. The owner is always very nice and welcoming. It is a small place that can fill up quick if everybody gets the urge for sushi. The kids have always like coming even when they were little. They like the sodas with the marble and rice balls. We always recommend this restaurant to our friends.

If you want to experience heaven on earth this is the place to go. I highly recommend the baked lobster sushi. It is the perfect potion size and aside from being deliciously warm it’s got the perfect amount of red, spicy sauce drizzled on the top after they take out of oven. I dream about this sushi and no other sushi restaurant has ever topped this dish. Love, love, love. Only room for improvement is an update to the dining room. I know they’ll give it a redo someday.

Best sushi and Japanese food in Tehachapi! Love the owner and family. My favorite dish is the Green Asparagus and avocado chicken sauté. It’s out of this world! You can’t go wrong with anything you order. The service is great also!

Went here last week and got the Steve’s Special and Nikki’s Special. Both were good — I prefer the Nikki though — and hamachi was a lot less fishy. Yummy!

Let me start our by saying that I’m not a chef of 20+ years but I did stay in a Holiday Inn express last night. I also lived in Japan for 4 years straight and ate out on the economy very, very often. Also I did«grace» this establishment with my present tonight and let me say… This place is back. When I first starting eating here they had a full compliment of Japanese cuisine such as sukiyaki and chanko nabe etc. For a while they stopped the serving some of the dishes but now they’re back on the menu. Except for the chanko nabe, which I miss. Tonight we had a couple of rolls, an order of katsu don, an order of sukiyaki and a couple of salmon skin hand rolls. Everything was excellent. There is absolutely nothing wrong with the service. It’s not fast but if that’s your priority when going out to dinner then maybe you should hit BK drive thru. If you want to be fawned over go across the pond and get yourself knighted. They have a small kitchen and it can only do so much, but order times are not out of line for the quality that comes out of it.

My friend and I go to this place at least once a month(she’s a local but I’m not). I have NEVER been disappointed by the food or the service. BTW this is about 3 years I have been going. My only complaint is that they are not open on Saturdays for lunch anymore! Booo!!! The fish tastes fresh, the rolls are delicious. The baked mussels with the cheesy stuff on top are the best I have ever had! I would highly recommend that, and the philly roll. Oh and the baja. And the pepperjack! That one is kind of dangerous though because it has fresh jalapenos in it. So some bites are hardly spicy and then some bites are like fire! But I love spicy food so it’s all good. Pair that with the cool philly and you will be doin juuuust fine. The tempura is also good. And the dish with chicken and rice(I forget the name) is pretty tasty. I really don’t know why this place has several bad reviews! Trust me I have been to almost every sushi place in the AV. This is the second best place I have ever been to in my opinion. Shogun is top. What I care the most about is the fish being fresh(melt-in-your-mouth, not chewy!) and good service. I guess there is no pleasing some people. I don’t put away food like a trash can so the fact that they don’t have all-you-can-eat bothers me none at all. But I guess some people like to stretch their stomachs! The other place(Ichiban) is slacking, big time. They are nice people but I want raw fish and rice, not fake crab(Kasagiri uses the real stuff) and soggy benito flakes piled on top! I understand they want to get creative but eh… I guess I better leave that for their review! All and all my point is that if you are a sushi nut, and more the traditional kind, try Kasagiri.

I agree with other reviewers who found the service lacking. Our server was rude and without personality, The teriyaki chicken and beef were very bland and not fresh. The tempura batter looked great but there was no seasoning and tasted like cardboard. I asked for dipping sauce for my California roll sushi(the worst I have ever had) and was given a dish that I was told I could use for soy sauce. Dipping sauce is normally a combination of soy, mirin and sesame oil but they did not know this or just didn’t want to make it. We just left the restaurant an hour ago and now both my wife and I are feeling sickly. AWFULAWFULAWFUL

A great place for japanese food if its your only option. As a frequent traveler, I was disappointed in the quality and authenticity of this place. Service was okay, not bad, not great. Would I come again? Maybe, nothing makes me ‘want’ to come back per se but if I were in the area and nothing else appealed to me then yes. The Tehachapi area is remote and thus higher prices come with the territory here.

Let me start out by saying that I am a Chef of 20+ years, and that I lived and cooked in Tokyo, Japan for 2 of those years. Let me also say that people in Tehachapi are so restaurant starved, that they are very easily impressed. Now for the review, such as it is… This is without a doubt the worst piss-poor excuse of a «Japanese» reastaurant I have ever chanced to grace with my presence. The food is poorly preprared, the service is slow, very rude, and will NEVER get your order correct on the first try. Then they will overcharge you by $ 20 – 40 hoping you won’t notice. And that was my FIRST time in this dump. As a professional restauranteur, I know even the best places have off nights. So I gave it a second try. It was worse than the first time around. How does this poor excuse for a shit-hole stay open?!? As I said previously… Tehachapians are so starved for places to eat out, they have become easily impressed, or at least totally complacent. I cannot tell you how many times I have heard the phrase«It’s just ok(long pause), but it’s GREAT for Tehachapi»!! … Really?
