We going this winery because our hotel 1 recommended them and the free tasting coupon we were given. Who doesn’t like free!!! Beautiful setting as so many places are here in Paso Robles. Place was busy as it was s weekend and they were participating in a wine/zoo thing. We waited a few minutes and found our spot. Our server Kate was knowledgeable and friendly. Chatted us us while we sampled their wines. We realized we both had/have lived in ABQ. Nice talk about hometown. Wines were great. Unusual blends and had a hard time deciding what to take with us. Tasting fee is waived with a $ 25 purchase.($ 5otherwise-is a deal!). Make sure you check it!!!

Love the Beaver! Sherry was an extraordinary sommelier, very knowledgeable and fun. The wines were very good, as the atmosphere. Lovely patio area to enjoy. A must stop if you are in the area.

Castoro was our second stop on the wine tour and what a treat! Justin, our wine guy, was fun and knowledgable! The wines were amazing, especially the Tempranillo(must try!!). The winery itself has a beautiful walkway and landscape, we had a nice lunch on the outdoor patio too, definitely stop here if you can! And if you can’t, make it happen!

One of my favorite wineries. We joined the wine club on our first visit!(We are not local, but the winery offers great deals for shipping!) Literally every wine we tasted was superb! The tasting room was awesome and they have great merchandise for sale, too! The grounds are beautiful. If you’re visiting this area I highly recommend a trip to Castoro. You won’t be disappointed.

If I were grading as an event center, the go Castoro. However, this is a grade on a winery. Poor job there. The tasting room was bustling, and deservedly so. There is a lot going on. Mention of partiesand concerts and frisby golf and tons of other events. Cool, but what about your wine? I saw people sucked in on ideas, and suddenly that smile seemed to sour with the taste of wine. Everything seemed below average to me. The Reds were highly acidic, so much so I actually felt my throat clinch up. I wish I could say that there was one remarkable wine, but there wasn’t. I was excited to taste their Tempranillo blend so I pushed through the other reds before they would pour it for me. Then it hit my lips and I wanted to cry. A fruitless monster greeted me, and I had to give in. The service was nice, and the tasting room had a cottage like feel to it. I could applaud that if the pouters weren’t so intent on wine club sign ups. I was offered 4 different packages by two separate employees. Maybe the club gives you great deals, but couldn’t you let me just enjoy the wine today instead? We try to always leave with at least a bottle. It’s nice to support the wine economy, but I couldn’t do so here. I’m proud to say that we split a glass so my wife and I escaped with only one tasting fee. Dam Bad Wine.

I enjoyed Castoro — it was quite busy even at 445pm on a Sunday. The counter was full, so I waited a while hoping someone would make a little space or have the pourers offer for me to squeeze in. I eventually just slid into a spot on the end. Castro offers 7 pours for just $ 5, and most wines are priced around $ 30 with a couple in the $ 50 range. Of course, that $ 50 Bordeaux blend was the one I enjoyed most, but I walked out with a couple bottles of the Syrah which was also nice. Some of their wines are organically farmed. This was a nice, family-friendly place replete with resident cats, grape juice for tots, and a lovely campus to run about. No wine knocked my socks off, but it was a nice stop.

This is our favorite winery in Paso Robles area. Staff is friendly, the wines are excellent and organic. We stop here every time we are on the area! We joined the wine club on our first trip and have never been disappointed with a shipment.

The wine was good, I liked the grenache, but the tasting room had a kitschy feel to it. Good service. The tasting was $ 5, not bad. I would come back here.

Went here for a round of disc golf, yes, in the vineyard there is a full 18 hole course. It’s beautiful and wonderful. With your round of disc golf, you get a tasting as well. So we stayed around after and tried a few wines. They also have actual grape juice that is delicious and what we came home with. Overall, it was a great experience and I would definitely go back.

Good wine. Im into Zins and they had a few. Loved the Unilocal deal they had too — 10% off purchases. Left with a few bottles and saved some money. Thanks Unilocal

Castoro! I love you! This was the first winery ever that I had my wine tasting at. Came during the week of the mid county fair 2015. We took a jeep tour here and a lovely lady here took the time to educate us on tasting wine and learning to use our palette even though she had not served us originally. The Muscat Canelli 2013 -??- is my all time favorite semi sweet white wine and at $ 9 a bottle, can’t beat that! Had the Muscat at other wineries on the tour and there is no other quite like yours. I’ll be ordering a few boxes for my wedding! It is beautiful here! The main entrance has grapevines full of grapes all the way through. There’s plenty of shade and cute little designated seating areas for you to enjoy your wine. You can walk through the vineyard without complications.

I love this winery. They have great wine, the staff is friendly and eager to share their wines with you. They don’t stick to a limited number of wines you can taste, which is nice because they will let you try wines they know you will like. This is a great place to stop in the middle of your day and have a picnic. The picnic area is beautiful.

I really enjoyed wine tasting at Castoro Cellars, from the walk up to the tasting room to the last pour, everything about this place and the tasting experience was perfect. You get to pick 7 pours off the menu($ 5) so for those who love reds, there are plenty. And for those who want to try a variety, you’ll find that too. My favorites were the Zinfusion Reserve, Primitivo, and Trentuno Anni. Castoro means beaver in Italian. Although I’m a duck(Oregon alumna!) I still really enjoyed hearing about how the owner named this place. It’s a sweet story about how his brother used to call him beaver because he couldn’t pronounce brother. The staff was extremely knowledgeable about the wines and offered lots of tasting notes for each wine we selected to try. We were also given sticker patches of beavers that you could use as a sticker or iron on as a patch. This place is also dog friendly. You can bring your pup in the tasting room, but there are also a couple winery cats around, so make sure your dog is well behaved. The winery also hosts concerts, so make sure to check the schedule to see who might be playing during your visit.

What a nice place. Walk up through a walkway surrounded by vines. Nice new building. Very busy over weekends. Great hosts especially Jan who took good care of me. Everyone knows Jan :-) Must visit if you’re in the area. Unilocal currently has a free tasting but it’s $ 5 for 7 tastes. They also. Sell local made pasta

Friendly staff, gorgeous grounds, excellent wine! You will not go wrong visiting the beaver. Been here a couple of times and I never leave empty handed. The Trenta was the best blend I’ve ever had here. If it’s available, do buy a few bottles. You can also never go wrong buying a jar of the Frog Balls. Those spicy pickled brussels sprouts were a knockout. Once you pry yourself away from the tasting room, wander around the property and spot the cats.

A busy and popular tasting room on Memorial Weekend. Our pourer(male with beard) was SO friendly and knowledgeable! If you like good, solid, drinkable Zins this is the place to go. We left with a bottle of Zinfusion which is a beautiful thing! The older woman who rang us up was, um, not too friendly. Well, I should just say it-she was not too customer service oriented, had she been our pourer, sis and I would have left soon after we arrived. Keep that woman away from the general public please! Otherwise very good wines, a nice roomy tasting room and though I wouldn’t call it «the best dam wine» I would say that it’s pretty dam [sic] good!

After a weekend of wine tasting and visiting 5 wineries in the area, Castoro Cellars was by my favorite winery. Nancy behind the counter was more than helpful and very friendly in answering all of our wine questions about Castoro and other neighboring wineries, and other activities to do in the area. The grounds at Castoro are one of the nicest I’ve ever seen… very beautiful. Large gift shop with a wide variety of gifts that go with the wine. Out of the flight choices, I really enjoyed the Barbera 2012 and took a bottle home along with some(pricey) jams for my mother. Would definitely recommend this winery if you’re traveling in the area. Will be back!

What a wonderful and secluded wine vineyard! It’s very discrete here and the sunny patio view is quite peaceful! I adore the grape vines that are hung along the path leading to the entrance or exit — depending if you are entering or exiting. This was our first stop out of many vineyards on a Sunday fun day after attending a vineyard wedding reception the day before. Clearly, we are Wine-Ohs! We got to do unlimited tastings at this vineyard because the pourer was generous and we flashed our Unilocal user account! First up, was their Balena 2013 Whale Rock white wine. The pineapple additive made it refreshing and crisp! I don’t usually care for whites and I prefer reds over whites, but this was pleasant! Their Chardonnay 2012 Whale Rock and Grenache were both clean. Their Cabernet Sauvignon Estate, left a light dry finishing touch to the palate. I like their Blind Faith, which was off their menu and the vineyard, itself, doesn’t produce it, but somehow is affiliated with another vineyard to hold this wine. My all time favorite was their Zinfandel — gold. It was a form of mixtures of flavors that complimented well and tasted compelling! Last, but not least, their Petite Syrah, with hints of blackberries, left a tartiness aftertaste in my mouth. Desperado, the Cat, welcomed us along the trail, lingered with us at the outdoor patio and purred at us as we bid farewell. It was extremely enjoyable here! Until next time, Desperado!
