The staff was very friendly and personable, and the prices were great, but the food was sub par. It took 45 – 50 min to make to go orders when the restaurant was basically empty. When it took so long, I expected a fresh meal but my fries were barely warm and the ice cream that came with my dessert was melted. Also, it was a little unappetizing to see a hair on the side of my ranch in my plate. Not sure that I’d go back as there are plenty of other places in the area to stop for lunch.

Very fresh! Worked with us on a quick turn around. We all had Mexican choices and the kids cleaned their plates! Skip the restroom…

Has been a few weeks since last here. Today in for 3 of us lunch. I had chicken fajitas with 3 deep fried jalapeños and MX Coke. Best fajitas I’ve had here and jalapeños were perfect done. Great service and really good everything today.

Other than always running out of beef. It’s a cozy place to eat. The wait staff is great. If your looking for literal home cooking, here it is.

Salsa and chips were the best part of the meal. The salad was on the hot side and quite tasty. Chips were fresh and warmed. Good combination. Got carne asada which is normally pounded thin and grilled. This came out about 3x normal thickness then cooked very well done. Marinade didn’t come through at all. The beans on the plate had zero flavor. The pico on the plate was quite tasty like the Salsa and they didn’t kill it with cilantro. Overall I wouldn’t go out of my way to go back, but wouldn’t skip it if I was in the neighborhood as the prices were very appealing.

By far the best food we had in Texas. This hole in the wall café is a gem. Delicious food and excellent service! The el pollo carbon was amazing!

So many American Mexican choices. A must stop place when heading east through Terrell. Worth a trip to Terrell for Carne Asada and order extra grilled onions from Heaven. Pot Roast to Cheese Burgers to Mexican Specialty. Delicious.

I really like this place. This a combination Mexican & American food restaurant. I ordered a ribeye. I was quite pleased. It was actually better than I’ve had at some steak places. The sides are well proportioned and tasted good. They have an all you can eat steak dinner on Saturday nights for $ 13.99. I plan on heading back over and giving it a shot one day. Keep up the good job guys.

Had the Chicken Fried Steak sandwich with home fries and fried pickles. It was pretty good. Their salsa was decent.

Good basic food and plentiful. Good service. Priced right. I had catfish filets. Comes with hushpuppies and three veggies or a baked potato and one veggie. Could also have salad. Everything was fresh and hot. Wasn’t greasy as some fried foods are. Large menu includes burgers, salads, chicken fried chicken or steak, and a variety of Mexican fare. Chips and salsa were good and served complimentary upon seating. I would definitely come back.

This place is awesome, fantastic staff, excellent food and VERY reasonable prices. I had the Huevos Con Chorizo and coffee all for about $ 8 bucks. What’s not to love! I will stop here every time I’m passing through Terrell.

This place is great! Since they are owned by the same awesome people that run«El Nogalito» Mexican Restaurant here in town the prices are rock bottom and the food is awesome! When I was kid my Dad was a farmer in the Rio Grande Valley, and he would take me to a café exactly like this every Sunday morning and we sat at a HUGE round table with all of the other farmers(the Keno café in Weslaco, TX), so it brings back some great memories for me. Sometimes the food takes a while longer to show up but give these guys a break because you are paying 1980’s prices for the food… and it’s well worth the wait!

Very good food. Big menu to choose from. I wasn’t a fan of General smoking though. There didn’t seem to be a set area for smoking. I was really turned off by it having a 2yr old and being 5 months pregnant.

Best HOT chips and hot sauce around. This place looks like a real hole in the wall. BUT, don’t be intiminated by the appearance. I have not found a single entrée that is not plentiful and«delish». Seniors can order off the kids’ menu… and it is not a kids’ portion. If you leave unsatisfied, it is your own fault. The staff is ready to make your visit the first of many more.

Just a normal pops/mom shop! But the food isnt that bad. Went during a slow lunch hour. but the food still came out fresh and hot. had the chicken fried steak. and mashed potatoes. and green beans… not bad at all. it was pretty good. As for everything else on the menu. just an average American homestyle cooking. and they have a small selection of Tex– Mex. They do have great tea!
