As a published restaurant critic I must say that this was the most unexpected and pleasant dining surprise my wife and I have encountered in Orlando. No, Michelin isn’t going to throw a bunch of stars their way. Most of us don’t realize that those ratings are heavily loaded with items like having the correct color of table cloth or seasonal flowers on the tables. I go to Chinese restaurants because I love to eat Chinese, and that you will do well at Cheng’s. The menu is extensive, the preps excellent, the servings generous, and the ingredients fresh and sliced fully. No Sub Gum Go Fo in this establishment. Rather, I pose a question. When was the last time you had Singapore Rice Noodles after happy hour in Central Florida? If you haven’t tried that great regional specialty point your vehicle at Cheng’s on the Southeast Corner of Maguire and Colonial in Ocoee. One order feeds two easily. Soups feed four. PS If you’re on a budget or have a bunch of hungry kids to feed try the lunch specials. Much offered for small prices.

Ever since my husband and I purchased a home in The Villages, we have been desperately searching for a good Chinese restaurant. Tonight, we found a great one! Service was friendly and speedy. The Crab Rangoon was hot and delicious. We split an order of Happy Family — lots of white chicken, roast pork, beef and shrimp. The brown sauce was excellent! I give Cheng’s 5 stars!

Been going here for two years. Food is the best and service great. Usually order the spicy food combo’s there’s enough food for two meals. WonTon soup is flavorful and always served hot!

We’re new to The Villages and love Chinese food but we don’t like buffets. We tried Cheng’s Chinese Restaurant this week and really enjoyed it. The wait staff was very pleasant and even though the restaurant is tiny, the atmosphere is much nicer than other local restaurants where I feel like I’m sitting in a small cafeteria. We ordered chicken in garlic sauce, pepper steak and orange chicken combination dinners. the chicken in garlic sauce and pepper steak was delicious with very tender meat and flavorful sauces. The menu indicated that the orange chicken was sauted but it was actually deep fried — it had good flavor and a nice sauce but the chicken was really chewy. Prices were reasonable so we’ll definitely return to this restaurant

We had a great lunch at a very reasonable price. We ordered the lunch-size dishes and the portions were just perfect for the time of day. The wait-staff was attentive and friendly. Everything arrived hot and delicious. Give them a try if you are in The Villages.

This is literally the best Chinese take out place in the villages. They have fast and great service. Surprisingly for take out food it isn’t greasy or super salty like a LOT of places. They give really generous amounts of food as well!

Very disappointing meal. I ordered the BBQ spare rib & chicken wing combination platter with pork fried rice and an egg roll. There was no flavor in any of it. I will not return.

Went here for lunch on 10⁄2. I had the wonton soup, bourbon chicken. The food was so fresh and delicious. It is a great sit down with friendly service. Great ambiance. Would definitely go again.

Our family is from the north. Since we moved to this area eleven Chinese-food-deprived years ago, we’ve been on a constant hunt for decent Chinese food. We are continually disappointed. At best, we drive an hour to encounter tolerable pseudo Chinese. Tonight that changed! We have several complaints with what is typically passed off as Chinese food: Aa) fried rice that is in fact yellow rice that has clearly been steamed, not fried and tossed with a handful of veg and some steamed meat bits. No soy sauce, no egg, no flavor, dry as hell. B) «Spicy» dishes that we could safely feed an infant. I’m not sure anyone around here can handle the level of spice we prefer, but a reasonable amount of heat isn’t so much to ask for. C) Sweet and sour sauce that has no flavor. It’s sweet. It’s red. Unless red counts as a flavor, no discern able flavor. Now we find here good that fills all of our requirements. The pork fried rice was fresh, hot, flavorful and moist. The Kung Bao Shrimp was beautifully prepared with loads of tender-crisp vegetables and moist, delicious shrimp. The white rice was moist and fluffy. They included free Chinese donuts and they weren’t stingy with the fortune cookies. I’d told the cashier that my husband wanted his shrimp so hot, so spicy that he sweats and cries while eating it. In the past, at other restaurants, if they paid any mind at all to our preferences, they might toss a condiment cup of those firey peppers in the bag. This time we got food that was cooked to order. He sweated. He cried. He was happy. AND? A condiment cup of those fire peppers. We are happy. We’ve found our one and only Chinese restaurant and we will be back!

All I ever have here is the house special fried rice and chowmein. I can, t say that it is the best in the world but it is one of the two best that I have ever found. The Villages is lucky to have them here.

By far the best Chinese in the Villages. The food is good, table service good, the place is clean. I had the orange chicken, best I have had in years. The place is a little off the beaten path so they can’t get too many that just happen to be there, I think that every other table was repeat customers. New for me and I will be back.

The interior is clean and up to date not overly Chinese decorated. The place is small I think mostly carryout but ample for the Sunday night crowd when we were there. Like most Chinese restaurants the menu is extensive. I ordered the MooShu Pork and while we waited we were given a basket of fried crispy sticks with plum? sauce. The meal was pretty good and more than I could eat. I will return to try something else before I commit more stars to the place but for now it’s a good place to eat!

Wrote a glowing review a couple of years ago but Cheng’s must have changed owners or cooks or something. The last time we ate there was definitely the last time. Overcooked, tasteless and cold.

BEWARNED — the address is incorrect, they have moved. Also, they DON’T have sushi. Overall, I enjoyed my meal, but was expecting sushi because of earlier Unilocal reviews.

Went to Cheng’s after reading the reviews on Unilocal and we weren’t disappointed. Not a large restaurant but great food and service!
