Fast service, very friendly waiters and waitresses, and EXTREMELYDELICIOUS burgers. 10⁄10 recommend if you want something fast and tasty(but not fast food). A meal here will probably put you out $ 15 or so, but definitely worth it

High prices for a sub par meal. We arrived here and I was not impressed; partly because we were the only customers they had but other than that, it was not anything unique. You would think being the only people in there that it would be quick service but that was not the case either. I made the mistake of ordering the Ahi Tuna salad, which tasted like the tuna was old. If the dressing had not been so tasty I would of probably sent it back.

I was in Thousand Oaks and was craving a burger. A friend of mine mentioned this place to me so I thought I would give it a try. I had their Manly burger and Cheesy Tots(it is a secret menu item). That may have been the best damn lunch I have ever had! Get the burger medium rare and you must try the Cheesy Tots! They have great beers on tap and the service was excellent. I highly recommend this place and will be back!

Love the food here but the service definitely lacks and if you order drinks the bar is even slower. I don’t mind because the foods awesome and worth the wait but that’s why I took away one star. I’ve tried the truffle burger, the minds burger, the man burger(bleck) not my favorite, and the one with Parmesan and fried egg which is now my favorite but can’t remember it’s name. Truffle fries are a must!!! Happy hour rocks The fact that they thank reviewers and actually read all the responses made me increase them to a 5 star. I’d rather wait longer for excellent food anyway than get gross fast food. Kudos to management for appreciating customers!

I had a terrific experience overall. I came here because I’m attending Paint Nite this evening and figured I would grab a bite before. The service was very quick, the black bean burger was very unique and delicious, and the sweet potato fries were cooked the way I love them, not too much and soft inside. Mitchell was a wonderful server and very pleasant and happy. I would definitely come back.

We love Umami Burger. The Cheesy Tots aren’t on the menu but they’re so delicious and we love the Diablo sauce(we wish we could buy that by the bottle). I used to get the Trattoria burger but that was taken off the menu. Fortunately, the Sunny Side has similar ingredients so that’s my usual order. My other half always changes things up and alternates between the Manly burger or the Truffle burger. The portions are not huge but you can taste the quality of the ingredients and it never disappoints. The most memorable burger we’ve ever had there was the Michael Voltaggio Monte Cristo burger that was only available for a limited time. o… m…g… is there ANY chance that would ever come back?

I love Umami Burger, especially my favorite burger with the sunny side up egg. Add that with some truffle fries and my mouth is in heaven! Yum!!! It’s so good, I finish my burger before my husband finishes his.

Great service. Easy atmosphere to relax in. Love the truffle fries and burger. Omg. The meat is so good. If you can, get Michelle as your server. Super nice and perfect service. And don’t forget to try their sauces, ketchup is rockin.

I love love love Umami Burger. It is a great place to have a good burger. I love the Truffle Burger and the Truffle Fries. The taste is amazing. I really like the thin fries. They are crispy and cooked perfectly. I could just eat the fries and :) I would be happy. I haven’t had a chance to try the other burgers because I can’t get past the Truffle burger. It is that good. The service is always good and they are always attentive. This location is nice and well kept. There is plenty of parking in the adjacent lot. It is pricey, so be prepared to spend $$$.

I received a response here on Unilocal from the business. I responded with my email address so that we could be in further contact. Crickets. Nice try; poor follow through.

My son swears by their burgers, so we tried out the TO location at 8pm on a Saturday night. I expected it to be packed, but it was empty — 2 to 3 other tables. Fine with me, I don’t like crowds, but my son wished for more energy. No complaints about the minimalist décor, but the metal chairs are killers. One complaint upfront; outside there was a chalkboard proclaiming beer and wine specials. But when I asked about them, I’m told they don’t start until Monday. What? Ok, then how much is an IPA? 7 bucks for a 12oz draft? No thanks, I’ll stick to h2o. I ordered the Umami burger, my son had the Cali burger, and we shared a side of truffle fries. The food was very good. Burgers could be bigger, but quality meat cooked medium-rare, and the fries were crisp with a tasty truffle cheese. And the made from scratch sauces were delicious, especially the ketchup and garlic aoli. So let’s compare Umami to Hook Burger. Nicer ambiance at Umami, but you have to tip. Are Umami’s burgers superior to Hook’s? Absolutely. Are they worth twice the price? Not in my opinion. Next time I’ll add a beer to my burger at Hook for the same price as one Umami burger and water.

**You must order the Maple Bacon Fries if you have a sweet tooth.** This is the fifth and latest Umami that I’ve visited after The Grove, Hollywood, Santa Monica, and Studio City. I would say that this visit has been the best by far, perhaps because it was my first time eating lunch at Umami. The location of this restaurant, The Lakes at Thousand Oaks, is spectacular(a Caruso Property-the same builders of The Grove, The Americana at Brand, the Commons at Calabasas, and The Promenade at Westlake to name a few). The interior of the restaurant is also simple and clean. On to the order. My table ordered Truffle Fries and Maple Bacon Fries to share and I ordered the K-BBQ Burger for myself. The truffle fries arrived first and were delicious. They were unlike any truffle fries that I’ve had before, but in a good way. Next came the maple bacon fries and they were perfection. The sweet potatoes were fried to a perfect crisp and then tossed in a sticky sweet, bacon-y glaze, with bits of bacon lardon thrown in. Definitely better than the maple bacon fries that I ordered at a different Umami that arrived more soggy than crispy(I assume the perk of dining at lunch rather than the busier dinner). Dipping Sauce review– I did not care for their umami house ketchup. I also did not like their garlic aioli. I mean, how do you make a bad garlic aioli? I did however like their diablo sauce and a jalapeño ranch, despite not really being a fan of ranch. Lastly the K-BBQ Burger. The best part of this burger was the gochujang glaze and the scallion-cilantro salad. I think that the regular burger patty definitely did not suit the other flavors, but I guess it was doable. This Umami Burger has become my new favorite location due to the beautiful atmosphere, excellent service, and deliberately crafted food. As long as this location continues to keep its food quality up, I can definitely see myself visiting again and again.

I am so tired of people shlepping me to Umami trying to convince me it’s great or that i should give a different location a shot. I think I have been to about 6 of their locations and they are consistent of one thing, being rude. I am really not a fan of no substitutions, so i usually omit a few items and feel that with that the value is gone, as well as being left with pretty much a plain burger. Really not a fan of their veggie burger, strange flavor and consistency and they don’t really have any other options. Fries are good here, since I don’t eat meat there arn’t really any other options for me either. The food came out quickly and I like the décor of the place, but the service was just not very friendly and the food just not good. Pass next time.

This place was average. I was expecting a lot more because of the hype. I came for the first time this past Saturday with my family. We ordered a variety of burgers. I had the Manly Burger. It was OK. Nothing out of the ordinary. Their truffle fries and onion rings looked great, but were just OK as well. Their home-made sauces were the only things that really stood out for us. In my opinion, they were just over-priced gourmet burger. The service was great, however we were disappointed upon arriving early that the bartender stepped out and no one was able to serve us for 40 minutes until he arrived.

This was my first time at Umami Burger despite living less than 5 minutes away from it and wow do I need to go more often. Right off the bat the service was great. We were seated and give menus quickly. I ordered one of their cocktails: the adult lemonade one. It was amazing. After debating for ten minutes on what a lardon was my friend and I figured out that Google was the winner and that we had to try to maple bacon fries. And they were so good that in the end everyone won. While I’m one of those sad people who isn’t very good spicy food, I still loved every single sauce we were offered, but especially the garlic aioli. And man was that sweet ketchup great. I ended up getting the Sunny Side burger on the advice of my waiter and I was not disappointed. The egg was perfectly gooey and after a few misguided attempts in figuring out to eat it cleanly I gave in and went face first into the fray. The messier my mouth got the happier my taste buds were. All in all, the service was great and so was the food. I’ll be sure to be back asap!

Same awesome food, great locale. I can probably count on one hand the number of times I’ve stopped in Thousand Oaks to eat over the years, but umami is the reason I’m gonna come more often(IF I’m coming this way, of course). I’ve gone over the food here before so if you wanna see my umami review, look up my review for umami la. But this location is prob the biggest off all the umami’s I’ve seen; has a ton of outdoor seating not as well as a bunch of large tables for groups inside… I’m assuming this place gets a large crowd frequently. Had the ahi tuna burger with the side salad… as usual; and it was awesome as usual hehe. Service staff was very friendly and quick. So nothing to mark down there Parking, street side parking; which I can see could get busy at peak times. Only mark down is distance…

I am a huge fan of Umami Burger. This location is by far the most chill. It’s not usually very busy and feels very suburban. I am glad that TO has one though because I seriously love this place. My favorite burgers are the Green bird & the Ahi Tuna and I always get the smushed potatoes or thin fries. If you haven’t tried it, I highly recommend it. I do regularly hear a lot of negative feedback of their beef burgers, but I’ve only tried bites and haven’t had a problem. My husband gets a beef burger like 90% of the time and he has never had a problem. Who knows?

Came here for a late night dinner and we were excited because of the things we have heard. I had the garlic burger that was basically cheese and garlic everything! It was perfection. The tots were yummy as well, especially with the great sauces. Hubs devoured his burger so I dont even know what was on it haha! We loved it. We probably wont come often just for price sake(tight budget over here) but definitely a great experience. Oh and we did splurge and have the snickerdoodle ice cream sandwich with salted caramel ice cream. ooo lala!

This past Saturday night, I came here before a play on the best double date I’ve had in a looooong time. Granted, we had the craziest dietary restriction combination: 2 Paleos, 1 glutton-free, and 1 Vegetation. What a hot mess for the kitchen!!! But Umami pulled it off! We teased the waiter, and he joyfully played along. When he asked us if we had any questions, my date asked, ‘Where do babies come from?‘ Squee! I love a great sense of humor and laughed til I nearly peed my pants. Plus the food was delish! I ordered a burger with an egg and truffle butter wrapped in lettuce(yup, I was one of the Paleos). It was drip-down-my-chin and lick it off good!!! We also ordered the pickled plate and it came with beets, pickles, snap peas, and fan-freaking-tastic mushrooms – all pickled.(See photos). We tried each other’s dishes– Fun foodie friends. Everything was tasty. The service was a bit slow and the Spicy Cougar cocktail(which I ordered by pointing at the menu because I could not say it out loud) was not spivey enough, and they screwed up my friend’s order(rare instead of well done), which is why I didn’t give it a 5th star. Over all, it was a great start to the night, and a tremendously yummy experience. I will go back!

Just had their Throwback Burger at the Thousand Oaks location. Excellent version of a Umami classic burger! Great fresh perfectly hand packed 2 beef patties with minced onions, with their seasoned ketchup and pickles make this my new favorite at Umami. Always have their fresh version of tater tots. Heard that this TO location is getting a remodel soon. Good although small(4 taps) of draft beer and good full bar. 12/28/2015. A few new drinks on the bar menu. Tried the Bacon Old Fashioned, using a bacon washed bourbon by Evan Williams. For sure this is a very different taste, but not bad. The bacon and orange bitters softens the aged bourbon bite. The bartender was out of the house candied bacon, which was supposed to be in this house special Old Fashioned. Also tried the k-bbq burger, a korean BBQ burger with carmelized kim chee, and it was a good change with the, to me, signature melding of salty, sweet, and umami taste. Uploaded a photo of the k-BBQ but not sure where it went on Unilocal
