I visited Antigua Café with my assistant on a Tuesday afternoon. It’s a quaint shop by Buffalo Firehouse. We ordered two cups of organic Guatemalan coffee. It was potent with no hint of bitterness. Greggory was very hospitable. He took time to explain the menu and the history behind the food.

You should come here because this place is awesome. It’s one of those hidden gems where the owner comes out to chat with you, the food is healthy and flavorful, there’s an outdoor patio(pet friendly), homemade pesto, and they even have organic coffee from somewhere in South America. I had the Caprese sandwich, a cup of tomato basil soup, and a glass of Argentinean Malbec.(Don’t forget to dip the sandwich in the soup!) I saw the menu had traditional and WATERMELON/HIBISCUS sangria and ceviche that I will def try next time. Antigua is good café to chat with other people or be a loner. Try this place with friends, your dog, a book, or come wine tasting on a date for dinner then stroll the area after.

Only dropped in for Guatemalan coffee and dessert: a French Apple Tart Pastry, which was very good. Will have to come back and try dinner. Met one of the owners, a very nice gentleman who seems passionate about his food. Good service from a young college student. My date and I enjoyed our evening. We’ll be back soon!

A neighborhood hidden find. Delicious, fresh, gourmet-with-a-homemade feel cuisine. Soups, sandwiches and tamals all fantastic lunch options. Quaint outside eating area where you can dine with your beloved four-legged family members(). I particularly love the homemade tomato soup and the lentil soup!

I have been trying to try this place for a while now and finally had the chance. I was really looking forward to trying the tamale so that’s what I got. Unfortunately, the tamale is listed as a breakfast item and gauging on the amount of time I spent waiting for it, they must have not been prepared for my order. I walked in right before lunch time and asked how long my order would take if I ordered to go. They assured me it would be 5 minutes but I found myself waiting around for about 30! That was disappointing. The food was great! My tamale was perfectly cooked and the slice of bread that came with it was delicious. I was disappointed in how much I paid for a tamale but it turned out to be pretty big so it wasn’t too bad. Overall, I think this place is worth a try but I’m not sure if i’ll be going back.

This place is amazing. The food is very fresh and authentic. Plus there happy hour and free wine tasting is a huge bonus. If you like/coffee you need to try their imported coffee honestly the best coffee I’ve ever had in my life.

I went last night looking for a nice place to eat with my bestfriend and we came across this café on Unilocal. So glad we did, this place was truly amazing. The service was great. Not to mention the food is some of the best food I’ve had. My favorite would’ve been the tomato/basil soup. Great experience, definitely coming back.

The outdoor environment is nice, servers are nice. Food is less than OK. I am no tamale expert, but I don’t think it should be runny… Kind of nasty thinking about it… The drink my wife ordered tasted like herbal medicine… I spoke to the owner and he is very nice, he also said there are off Tue menu polish food available, for that I would give this place another shot.

I had been looking forward to trying this place for so long because It’s close by and I had always seen it. I finally walked in and the lady who helped me was kind although she seemed lost. The breakfast meal I ordered was probably the worst Tamale I’ve had. I’m mexican and I have these things all the time but this almost tasted raw and I dished out $ 10 for one and a side of bread? No thank, NEXT!

I found this place on Unilocal and just being a bandwagon, I ordered the tapas trio. However, I went during lunch hours so they actually didn’t have the tapas on the menu. We had to ask for the dinner menu, which the waitress was very nice enough to ask the chef. And that’s how we ordered our tapas. The bbq, Mediterranean, and the caprese. Each of them had their distinctive flavors which were so so perfect but I gotta go with the bbq tapa.

This is not a fake review. Yaneth is funny. My tamale was really cold as was my coffee. No thank you. My boyfriend and I were very disappointed. Tamales from costco tastes a lot better. And for our daughter we ordered orange juice… They didn’t say it was orange mixed with something in a can. She also did not like it. Funny how the owner messages me that my review is fake. Seriously guys, if you read the other negative reviews on them, the person yaneth replies with rude and nasty comments. They can’t accept their food is not the greatest. I remember the guy owner even talking to us for a long time about their food convincing us come back… No thank you. Especially learning how rude they are. Don’t waste your money and time.

My husband and I stopped here to try this café or after seeing the signs outside. We each orders the tamale lunch special with a side of soup. We both really really enjoyed the tamales. Its light and fluffy and was more delicate tasting than mexican tamales. The owner stopped at out table to ask how the meal was. We learned about the complimentary wine tasting they also offer. We’ll definitely come back again to try other things on there menu. We love trying new places and supporting local businesses. Give them a chance to earn your business!

PLEASEDON’T BEFOOLEDBY5STARREVIEWS. Update: Thank you to the owner of Antigua Café for validating my review with that belligerent tangent you call a response. Like I stated in my review so unprofessional! Any business that won’t miss its customers or can not take constructive criticism is doomed to failure. If you can’t take the heat then stay out of the restaurant business. Can’t wait to see what will be in that location next!!! Original review… AVOIDTHISRESTAURANT. There are a lot of great places to eat in Old Torrance… this is not one of them. *Overpriced boring«Tapas». *Meat in the tamales is dry and bland.(I tried both chicken and pork) *service is awkward and unprofessional(the owner hovers over your table and watches you eat) To make it worse if you try to order tamales for take out(my pregnant friend was craving a tamale) you are given the third degree and as to why you don’t want it with the salad and drink. So we just left without purchasing anything. Bottom line I will not be back!

Seeing previous reviews, I really had some high expectations… That weren’t met. At all. Came here Saturday afternoon with a friend to try this place for the first time. Plenty of things we wanted on the menu were unavailable, the vegetarian tamale(only one available out of the three options) was bland, pumpkin soup tasted store bought and the cheese tasted cheap. The staff was kind but inattentive. Nice ambiance. Dog friendly. Free wifi. We really were hoping for a great experience, and maybe that’ll happen if we decide to give it another try… Far in the future.

Small, friendly, comfortable café; perfect for people who want to drink some wine and have some appetizers. If you are looking for dinner, you should not come here. Their only dinner entrée is essentially a tamale with soup and salad. It’s okay. I really liked their salad. Tapas consists of different types of toppings on top of bread. Each one is $ 4 which is really pricey for the amount of food you get. However, it was really good. Free underground parking(if you can find a spot, this parking lot is shared with lots of businesses). Some patio seating. Friendly service. Really good food, but pricey(at least for dinner). Great place for a simple«girls night.»

Last summer, while joining a friend in her wedding planning, I learned of the charm of Old Town Torrance. I came back recently to explore more & I discovered a treasure here… What a gem! Located in peaceful ‘The Plaza’ del Prado courtyard & keeping with the ambience of the neighborhood, the patio is my favorite place to sit. There, a local friend & I enjoyed a delicious & delightful evening as we were welcomed most hospitably. Not often a beer drinker, my favorite has evolved from New Castle to Chimay Première(Red) & now after this visit, to the ‘Cadillac of beers’, Collesi Imper Ale Rossa. I look forward to returning to sample other offerings & enjoy the scene during different parts of the day.
