Baba Pizzeria

This wasn’t very good pizza, nough said.

When I see a woman like Zooey Deschanel, I thank God that I have a penis. In a similar sense, when I eat at a place like Baba Pizzeria, it makes me grateful that I work in Torrance and have a ridiculously large appetite. This is one of my favorite places to eat lunch at — it’s a mom & pop kind of place — family owned & operated, serving up kickass subs, tasty pizza, and also classic pasta dishes. Here’s why this place rocks so much:
1. The subs. Hands down the #1 reason to come here. For $ 6.95 you can get a meaty 10″ Mussolini Grande hot sub featuring meatballs, pepperoni, mushrooms, cheese, and meatsauce. One of the most genius subs ever invented. Also one of the reasons to never go to the Quizno’s 20 feet away from this place. Fuck yo’ prime rib & peppercorn! I also recommend the chicken parmigiana sub, the Italian beef sub, and the cold submarine sandwich is the shiz.
2. I really like the pizza here. If you’re a fan of meat, you will absolutely adore the works — it has sausage, pepperoni, meatball, canadian bacon, and an entire rack of lamb.
3. They open a little before 11 am so I can sneak in an early lunch when I get bored at work or get pretty hungry. A lot of restaurants that I go to in Torrance don’t open for lunch until 11:30 so this is a BIG DEAL for me.
4. Prices are super reasonable.
Keep in mind that perfection cannot be rushed so if you don’t phone in your order, expect to wait about 10 – 15 minutes for your sub. If you come in at noon when 100 people have already beaten you, expect to wait even longer. I have never tried their pasta save for a one time linguini in alfredo with shrimp that left me not at all impressed. But I have to say, I am interested in trying their spaghetti since the meat sauce in the subs is always top notch.

Note: I’m not sure who voted that they take reservations. They take down phone orders but this is not a restaurant and I’ve never once seen all the seating taken before, so dining in is never a problem here. The busiest hours are during lunch on the weekdays and 70% of those people are getting their orders to go.

I’ve eaten nothing but chicken noodle, alphabet soup, and water.
I want a healthy helping of meaty lasagna in a huge round tin, buttery garlic bread, and a fresh green salad. It’s only $ 8! Spoil me! I want to eat in bed, pass out, and bask in the yummy goodness.
Bring me some.
