Located in the Mitsuwa food court, this is an okay place to grab some cheap Japanese food. They have a wide variety of offerings with many represented in the traditional plastic food display case. I chose the pork cutlet curry. My food came up within 30 seconds which told me it was already prepared and just sitting somewhere in the back. The curry was excellent — very delicious. The pork was of average quality but it had been fried too long. The coating was far too oily and heavy. To make matters worse, the coke I ordered to drink had no flavor; it just tasted like bubbly sweet water. Doubtful I would return considering there are multiple other choices in the food court.

The worst mackerel ever! Full of bones! Very dry! Don’t get this fish here unless you want to spend the entire timing picking out bones from this fish. Get it together man!

They are located in the food court of the market. It seems pretty clean for their restaurant. Their display dishes were pretty attractive. We finally decided to try their curry katsu chicken. It’s a combination plate with curry, katsu chicken, rice and some veggie. The curry source was very thick, but the flavor was not bad. It tasted good with the rice. Unfortunately the healthy salad was too healthy that there’s not dressing for it. For a $ 7.50 curry rice, it’s cheap and the quality was not bad.

I came here on Saturday for lunch, which is located in the Mitsuwa market where the food court is. I ordered the Katsudon(pork cutlet with egg and onions over rice) and a side order of tempura. The reason for the 3 stars is because of the: — Wait time: Too long. This place had fewer customers in line so I figured I could get my food faster, but that was definitely not the case. My receipt said I ordered at 1:10pm, but I didn’t get my order until 1:45pm. Thier kitchen seems to not be able to manage very well because thier were a few people in front of me that was already complaining. — Hard rice: The Katsu was actually pretty tasty but the rice was just hard and it ruined the dish. — Too much batter: the tempura I ordered had way too much batter on it. I couldn’t even taste the shrimp in the shrimp tempura. Due to these reasons, I suggest going to the other food establishments in the court.

Average Japanese bento/curry items at Miyabi-Tei. The tempura is bad here, too much crust and oil. Prices and tastiness-level are pretty much comparable to the adjacent restaurants. Really the only two places worth your time and money in this Mitsuwa food court are Hannosuke and Santouka.

Dropped in for a quick bite between meetings. When I say«a bite» I mean a meal fit for 2 people. Because that’s what the Chicken Katsu Curry plate is enough for. Two people. The curry is flavorful and the dark meat chicken was tender and jucy. I did have an larger amount of fat in my katsu but the portion size makes up for it. I have to say though that the cashier seemed like she wasn’t having a good day. She was almost emotionless when taking my order and when I picked up my food. Not that I look for stellar customer service when coming to a place like this but come on. Crack a smile.

My go to spot for kaiku-don(egg over beef) with Japanese pickles – known collectively as tsukemono. It comes with takuan(yellow pickles) but my favorite is to eat it with fukujinzuke(red pickles). However it will cost you $.82 cents more but it’s worth it!

Located inside the Mitsuwa Marketplace food court, Miyabi-Tei had the most appetising looking food so my mum and I ordered our lunch here. You order at the counter and then they give you a buzzer so you can find a table while waiting for your order to be ready. We were lucky and did not have to look too long before we got a table, and then our order came out fairly quickly after that. She got the Tempura and Teriyaki Chicken Bento while I got the Katsudon. Both trays of food looked fairly good, but unfortunately neither of us enjoyed our meal. Next time we’ll be trying a different food vendor…

An overall«Meh» to this place. I was craving Curry House last week, but since I was at Mitsuwa anways, I decided to eat at the food court and try the chicken katsu curry at Miyabi-Tei. There are tons of katsu places in Mitsuwa, but this one caught my eye because they had those fake dishes you can see at their ordering area. Yes, I am a more visual person, so it was nice to see what I was getting. I obviously decided to try the chicken katsu curry special, which came with a salad. I love the pickles at Curry House and the woman that was working there told me that she would charge me extra. BOO! I mean, I always thought that the pickles were like side dishes in Korean restaurants or chips/salsa at Mexica restaurant — unlimited. Plus, the woman was also kind of rude to me about getting extra pickles. Whatever, I decided against ordering additional pickles. There is plenty of seating at Mitsuwa, but it gets SOOOO busy during peak times. They now have additional seating outside of the food court area, which makes it easier to score a table. The food came out pretty quickly. I thought that the food was average. The katsu was OK, I thought that the chicken was not as tender as Curry House. I was VERY disappointed in the curry. It had this weird sweet taste to it that didn’t make the curry taste good. It almost felt like it was an instant curry sauce out of a box. The salad was also just OK, they had a few limp lettuce that I could do without. I think next time a katsu craving hits, I will just drive over to Curry House or maybe I can try one of the other places in the food court.

We didn’t opt for the cutlet and curry dish this time, but we got the chicken and egg rice bowl, which was about $ 5. Wow, this was surprisingly good! This bowl was the perfect balance of sweet and savory. Also I was happy to see they offered condiments to compliment our bowl. It made the dish even more awesome. Fast service, great prices, yummy food! Cash only… enjoy!

Now I’ve been coming here for years and I can tell you the the pork katsu curry is consistent as it gets. It may not be the fanciest curry, nor the best cut of pork, but the curry spice is just perfect. I’d say it’s medium on the heat level. For 7 bucks and change, it’s hard to beat. I’ve tried several other things here, but the katsu curry is my go-to.

Every time I come to eat at Mitsuwa Market, I always get ramen. This time I decided to get curry and it was so good! I got the chicken katsu curry over rice. YUM. Generous portions and tasty curry.

The WORST tempura I’ve ever had. I knew it was going to be bad when I noticed the dough was white instead of a golden yellow. The lady was very unfriendly to boot. Never again!

I ordered the Miyabitei bento(the usual), I think the one in Costa Mesa is better. The veggie side is not flavorful enough, mackerel is cooked way too much, tuna sashimi pieces are too small, tempura is lacking in varieties and too bready. Overall portion of the bento is smaller than other Miyabitei and a couple of items is not really flavorful and not executed well. I really enjoyed those cute, soft mochi balls tho!

This is such an amazing find from Unilocal! When I was pregnant, and up to a year after — I would ritualistically go to Miyabi-Tei to get their grilled mackerels every week, or at least every other week. When searching for a decent curry place, and Japanese market, around the area, I would say Mitsuwa’s food court cannot be topped. I used to have to trek all the way to Hacienda Heights for grilled mackerels, No More! Now I make my weekly pilgrimage to Miyabi-Tei, where I have a choice between some of my favorite dishes — grilled mackerels, chicken & egg bowl, pork cutlet curry and so much more. I personally wouldn’t try the sushi there, but the other items are great, phenomenal even. Why do I love their Grilled Mackerels so much, I often wonder — well, it’s because … it’s so crisp on the outside, and so filling on the inside, so salty and juicy, and it mixes so well with the soup, rice, and whatever side dishes they offer at the time. Highly recommend it! Very reasonably priced as well.

I usually walk by Miyabitei on my way to Santouka. I’ve been wanting to mix things up, so I did. I love eel, so I decided to go with the eel egg bowl for $ 7.50. Seemed a little pricey; only time would tell if it was worth it. The verdict: The amazing looking eel egg bowl in the display shelf showed vast amounts of eel. The real eel bowl contained about half as much as advertised. Disappointing, to say the least. A nice sauce accentuated the natural flavors of the eel. The eel was great. There just wasn’t enough of it. The egg was standard. I feel as though the egg and rice were there to fill you up(as they were quite stingy on the eel). Basically I paid $ 7.50 before tax for an egg rice bowl with a little bit of eel. It also came with tofu and a small miso soup(both of which were mediocre). It may be cliché, but it’s true; Santouka ramen is the way to go.

This place is located inside Mitsuwa’s food court. Every time I head to Mitsuwa for a quick lunch, I always check out all the other food places, but somehow always end up getting food at Miyabi-Tei. I get their pork katsu bowl which consists of pork katsu, egg, onions, and rice. I swear, it’s a lot more delicious than I’m make it sound. It also comes with a small bowl of miso soup and some bean sprouts. Prices are fairly cheap, I can usually get lunch here for $ 6 — 7 and even have food left over sometimes. I’ve also tried their bento boxes before and they’re also fairly good! Oh, don’t forget, they’re cash only!

OISHII! this is a great place to come for lunch/dinner. it’s inside the mitsuwa market(food court) i loved all the variety of sets and bentos here. everything is under $ 10 and you get a great deal for a lot of good food! i ordered the pork katsu don(pork katsu, egg, rice, and onions) with a side of udon noodles! the bill including tax was around $ 7. so cheap for a lot! my friend even got more food for a cheaper price. she paid $ 6 for curry with rice, udon noodles, and a side of small salad! service is quick especially during rush hour! don’t let the crowd or long lines stop you from coming! you’ll have your food in no time and be extremely satisfied!
