Found this shop in the neighborhood and it did not disappoint. I had the Berry snow cup and red bean pastry. Both were excellent. Will definitely come here again for dessert!

Delicious red bean(not too sweet). Love the texture & taste of their«snow milk» shaved ice! Only tried two things so far. 1. OG Snow Bowl w/Red Bean: Snow milk shaved ice topped with cooked red bean and sticky rice cake balls(2 pieces) ** Can’t go wrong with«OG.» It really tastes like the old times«OG» Korean red bean shaved ice. Of course there was no «snow milk shaved ice» in the past, but I think it’s just a better, more modern version of the OG times! 2. Gold Snow Bowl w/Red Bean: snow bean powder shaved ice with cooked red bean, sticky rice cake balls(2 pieces), and almond slices sprinkled on top ** roasted soybean powder complements well with shaved ice

The best Korean-style shave ice /patbingsu! This is the more traditional style as opposed to Korean shave ice topped with loads of fruits or Hawaiian shave ice with syrupy flavors. We get the gold bowl, our friends love the sesame black. The shave ice is very, very fine, really like powder snow balls. The powders on top add taste but not a lot of sweetness. I crave the red beans and mochi on their own, but these tasty morsels provide the perfect complement to the patbingsu. The space is clean. There’s not a lot of seating but we’ve never had a problem getting a table. Service is friendly, efficient, and consistent.

These things look so interesting! When I saw pictures on Unilocal,I was compelled to check it out! I brought my mom, and we shared the sesame bowl and one of each rice cake. The shaved ice itself was very refreshing, and I liked how they made sure the flavor went all the way through the ice. The mochi was soft and the red beans were tasty. Even though I liked the sesame flavor, something about it made us cough. It was getting stuck in our throats or something, and that was irritating. I wonder if the other varieties(golden, etc.) do the same thing. The rice cakes were interesting, but not my thing. I sent them home with my mom. I’m still interested in trying out another flavor, but I’m in no rush to head over.

I don’t normally eat this type of food, for my personal taste I just didn’t like it. I got the red bean porridge and a shaved ice cup. The shaved ice was really standard ice with something that tasted like greek yogurt, a shit ton of coconut, and granola. I was like… okay me’eh… The red bean porridge was unusual. Imagine eating something where after two spoons you want to quit eating. That’s the feeling I got from eating the porridge. It was mushy beans that was a tad too sweet for my taste. But since the dessert here was a cost of a Big Mac I kept eating. What really shocked me was the size of the portion. In the photos the shaved ice looked huge. When you actually see it in person the golden bowls are so small! I don’t get how you can possibly share with anyone other than a small child.

This place is hard to describe, but it is so worth it. Basically, they make these light as air snowballs, with not much sweetness, and then cover them with either sesame seed, green tea, or this other«golden» bean powder. Then come the homemade adzuki beans, and a couple balls of mochi. Anyone who thinks that they don’t like red beans needs to give this place a shot. This isn’t the regular old canned red beans that some places serve. They make them in a cauldron here, and they are delicious. Highly recommended for something different!

Nice interior. It’s clean. If only it matched the food I received. Got the Green Snow Bowl with Red Bean. It was pretty underwhelming. Especially for the price… I’d be expecting something amazing for 8.99 + a $ 1 tip… and all I got was bland grainy matcha covered snow and subpar red bean. The red bean wasn’t fresh and it’s pretty sad that I paid 10 bucks for a bowl of disappointment. At least the bland mochi was soft. Probably won’t come back.

Small little shop for some Korean shaved ice. It is served in an icy cold metal bowl with metal spoons, which I thought enhanced the experience of eating shaved ice. The red bean, mochi and green tea shaved ice went very well together. First time having korean shaved ice — not bad. Ice was fluffy and just melted in my mouth. Paired with gooey goodness of redbean, finished with a warm cup of tea. Good for a hot day or a small dessert to share!

Love coming here! It’s such a nice, cute little place to get yummy dessert and catch up with friends :) Every time I come here, it feels like as if I’m actually in Korea(with the kdrama music playing in the background) :3 I believe there is another location in Ktown but I think this is the better location based on Unilocal reviews lol. There’s tons of parking! Recently, I got the green tea shaved ice and it was so good! I like that it’s not overwhelmingly sweet compared to most other Korean dessert places. Very balanced. At first, it’s so perfectly shaped that you have to take a picture and you don’t want to take your first scoop into it. Though, it’s not that large as seen in photos and a little expensive(about $ 9). Though once in a while, I wouldn’t mind coming here to get some great dessert :)

This is the best place to have Korean shaved ice! Okrumong has a simple menu and everything is made freshly on site in huge ceramic pots. The shaved ice is tasty — a fluffy bowl of shaved ice topped off with red beans and a soft mochi. Their adzuki beans(or «pat») are just the right texture and are sweetened to perfection. Pair with their condensed milk shaved ice, and you get one amazing dessert. This place is right across from where I live, so I can say personally that the location kicks butt. It has a great worldly ambiance, the service is nice and efficient, and there’s hardly any wait. In my opinion, that already warrants five stars! The prices are fine for the amount of stuff that they give you in each bowl, because they are quite large!

I have had Korean shave ice in HK and Korea, but I think this place is better. Also, this location is better than the one in Korea town. It’s consistent and they always put a lot of layers of powder inside the bowls and top them off pretty well. My favorite is the Golden Bowl and second favorite is the Black Sesame Bowl. I don’t mind paying $ 8 – 9 here because this shave ice is so fine, and the flavor is soo good and its a pretty light dessert. I also enjoy how they have the red bean and mochi balls with the bowls. And the gold bowls and gold spoons are a pretty cool addition to the dessert. I swear it tastes better eating shave ice with golden spoons. I think its awesome we have Okrumong right in the neighborhood, and I will always come back for more(with some new friends).

I LOVEOKRUMONG! Ok. Had to get that out of the way. This was my first time to this location. I’ve only gone to the LA location. I was in the area and had a major craving for patbingso. This location is right next to Kings Hawaiian Bakery(in the next shopping area). It is pretty small, but then again so is the LA one. Thankfully we went at an odd time and there was no one. As always, we ordered the gold snow bowl. We also ordered the 5 red bean bread(taiyaki…not sure what it’s called in Korean). I didn’t eat any but my grandparents did and loved it! When we got them they were super hot and fresh! The gold snow bowl is my absolute favorite. I order it every time. At first glance it may look like there isn’t going to be enough mixed grain powder, but there are layers of it in the shaved ice. I probably won’t be in the area for another year, but when I am I’ll definitely be coming back. And maybe I’ll even try something new!

Yep back again for the fourth time. It is one of the best korean shaved ice that ive had in socal! The greentea red bean one is still my favorite after all! The golden bowl is pretty good too but less red bean compare to the greentea ones! I’ll just have to make that 30 – 40 min drive if I want some good shaved ice now.

Fantastically cooked red/adzuki beans atop a pillow of fluffy shaved ice. If that sentence doesn’t make you want to come here right away, I don’t think we can be friends… Having eaten patbingsu many a times in Seoul, Okrumong offers the real deal. While their shaved ice isn’t quite as fluffy as Sul Bing, it is extremely close. What really makes Okrumong a 5 star location is their adzuki beans, aka«pat». They are tender without being mushy, and sweetened perfectly to pair with their shaved ice. Price is around $ 8 for a portion, but given the quality of the product, well worth the price.

Gold bowls. Hearkening back to dynastic heritage — golden bowls and golden spoons make you feel like you are whisked away to an ancestral place having a royal dessert. Ah, Okrumong… a really neat place to have a modern take on Korean dessert. Okrumong specializes in red bean(pat — adzuki) desserts — delish variations on comforting sweet porridges/concoctions made from red bean, snow cups(I love these), pastries, and Korean dessert drinks. Red Bean — Note that you can see the traditional cookware to make the red bean dessert in the windows. Neat process really to check out. Porridges — Topped with rice cakes(ddeok — mochi). Since they’re variations on a theme, they’re all very healthy, comforting and sweet(green tea, black sesame, yogurt, mitsugaru…) Pastries — Rice Cake + Red Bean Cake = dense, chewy, sweet pastries. Drinks — traditional sweet dessert drinks and teas. Snow Cups — Yum! Shaved Ice! OG is quite delicious(like breakfast in a cup). The snow is soft and fluffy like that of Hawaiian shaved ice. Nice, woodsy inviting ambiance. Service is nice and efficient. Free WiFi. Prices could be a bit cheaper.

Ask for samples! They let you sample all the flavors and the portion they give you is quite a lot. I tried the green tea, black sesame, OG, and golden(five grain). The golden snow tastes like a graham cracker. I’m glad I was able to sample the flavors. I wouldn’t have chosen the OG snow if I didn’t get a chance to sample them. The OG snow is milky and sweet. I loved it with the red bean. The snow also had red bean in the middle and 2 mochi balls on top. Huge portion, we were unable to finish this between 2 people. I prefer this snow over other places because it isn’t as sweet and overbearing. For this Torrance location, parking was easy to find. It was self-parking in a parking lot.

Solid place for your Korean shaved ice. They have a simple menu and everything is authentic. The shaved ice is tasty — a fluffy bowl of shaved ice topped off with red beans and a soft mochi. Prices are pretty steep. A small bowl(which is good for 2 people) is $ 8 – 9. I’m a huge fan of their green tea flavor which is packed with plenty of green tea flavoring. Each and every single bite is very green tea like and the red bean is the perfect accompaniment. Also, the gold bowl that the shaved ice is served in keeps the dessert from melting and keeps everything icy cold. I like how they have plenty of parking in their lot. And they also have free wifi which makes this place a great spot to catch up on work while indulging on an icy sweet treat!

So this was my first time having patbingsu a.k.a. Korean shaved ice. The verdict is… it’s actually pretty good, but you have to be OK with red beans. Okrumong offers four«base» flavors of shaved ice to start off with: OG Green Gold Black Next they infuse the middle of your colored snowball with delicious delicious red beans, then top it off with more red beans and mochi balls. To be honest, the shaved ice itself doesn’t lend too much flavor but it goes great with the red bean. I didn’t know they made their red bean from scratch until after the fact, but I can tell Okrumong takes great pride in making it just right. I guess my only complaint is that you can’t deviate from the menu that Okrumong has in place. This is definitely not Blockheads. You are slotted into enjoying the 4 flavor presentations they have on the menu, which do taste good but I wish you had the option for variety. Also their dessert only comes in one size: there is no large, medium, or small. A single patbingsu costs $ 8.25 each, but they are generous with portion size. It’s a lot to eat for one person, so I’d recommend you divide and conquer your patbingsu instead by splitting it with another person. I’m happy we have shaved ice in Torrance, I just wish it was a little more customizable and a little less expensive.
