For anyone who has ever needed to see a counselor, you know how expensive it can get. And therapists tend to stare at the clock and push you out the door when your 45 minutes is up.
CCS is a completely different take on helping people. They have trained therapists who perform in many capacities, from regular talk therapy to refugee assistance to conducting home visits and supervised visitation. And the therapists are nice people who are definitely not clock watchers.
Though they work with funding from the Catholic diocese, they are completely secular when it comes to the people they help. In fact, there have been many times I’ve seen observant Muslims in the waiting room (they have staff who speak Arabic).
The greatest thing about CCS is that they charge on a sliding scale. So you can come here without insurance, or even a job, and pay as little as $ 5 a session! That is unheard of, and really should be better known in a community where there is a real need for therapy and where most people, if they qualify, are stuck going to group therapy sessions at COPE or CODAC.
