I’ve used Andy Gilmour’s services to refinish a 1971 Raleigh International, and most recently to align the fork on my 1969 Lejeune. Both times, Andy brought to my attention, and corrected, small issues that I was not aware of when I brought the frames in. His work was fast, reasonably priced, and highly skilled. Both bikes performed much better after Andy had his hands on them. I would highly recommend him.

You can read all of this story by searching on line. Everyone on that site and others like and even Reynolds themselves will tell you that you can not«coldest»(bend to straighten) Reynolds 753 steel frames or forks as the frames are tubes are heat treated and will snap back or worse. A custom frame I bought was unridable sue to both a fork and frame misalignment. Andy said he could do it, for only $ 80 I have a now beautiful riding bike.

Upon searching for a someone to replace the front dérailleur boss on an aluminum frame I was referred to Andy Gilmour. I called him up and he appeared to be confident in being able to remove the broken front dérailleur boss and riveting on a new one. $ 100 dollars later parts and labor only(not including shipping) I received the frame back but the front dérailleur boss was not correctly attached. How could this be I thought, people said that Andy at Gilmour Bicycles did great work. Upon calling and complaining about the crooked dérailleur boss, all I got from Andy was that he didn’t have have a front dérailleur and cranks to check the correct position of the boss. How could that be, a bike builder not having a front dérailleur and some cranks to check the correct position of the boss he was confident in attaching??? All I know is that if I ever was interested in spending good money on a frame I wouldn’t buy it from this guy. He didn’t even offer to fix it and just said that I should make a shim to correct my problem… THANKSANDY, go @#$*(&$^# yourself and I hope this is warning to those of you considering buying a custom frame from this guy. Go get it somewhere else.
