We’ve been to Mosaics every time we are in Tucson. Love their taco’s machaca — best we can get in US. The meat is spiced just right — tasty but not overpowering flavor. They also use the traditional Mexican cheese plus beans & rice are good — usually a good indication of how good it is. If they mess that up it’s usually bad. Also LOVE the salsa. Homemade tortillas too.

Waiter was excellent but was spread to thin for the entire resturant. When I received my order it was cold, the second plate for my guest had more egg than chorizo. The cost of the meals with coffee was $ 20.48. A little pricy for the plates. the girl at the register kept to that area when she could have been serving. All in all I blame management for poor training and being understaffed. Will I go back, not anytime soon.

One negative comment, later. We have always enjoyed the food, we first found them when they were in the Safeway shopping center at Grant and Silverbell. Later they expanded to a perfect location just up Grant road, still the best food with a gorgeous view. Service is outstanding. Now Dos has opened. Great food, our favorite is the vegetable burro. Their cow stomach soup as one Unilocaler called it, is a traditional Mexican soup and it is very good. Being a third generation Arizonan, both my wife and I, I can say this restraint has satisfied my hunger for Mexican food every time. Negative, Dos charges for chips on take out orders. Eat in the restaurant and the chips are free. I spend the same amount of money either way, I wish they would not charge me for something they give me free if I eat there instead of taking home on busy nights. Either way the food is good, I will continue to eat there. Thanks for your time. M

Came in for breakfast the chorizo and eggs were very bland the plate came with beans and potatoes the potatoes weren’t even seasoned looked and tasted like they just came out of the frozen bag tossed in the pan and onto the plate I had to ask for salsa just to give it flavor. The waiter was ok but the other waiter was rude when I asked for the check and let him know I’ve been waiting awhile both waiters seemed overwhelmed by the maybe 8 tables they had to wait on. Food is very bland and boring and the service isn’t good the only thing that was good was the tortillas and salsa but after the rude experience with the waiters I will definitely NOT be back. Customer service is very important and they failed.

I was introduced to Mosaci for the first time last year. We had an extended family get together and someone had suggested Mosaci — we were not sorry. The food was wonderful, the service was great and the wait staff very friendly — especially considering we were such a large group. We are back for our annual Thanks Giving gathering and this is on our list of places to visit!

I can definitely appreciate previous reviews that gave this place dismal marks for service. We were seated promptly, and our drink and food orders taken right away. Then it went downhill. There was only one waitress and it started filling up after we ordered. She brought our plates and said she’d be right back with salsa and tortillas. I sat there with my food getting cold watching her taking orders from two other tables before even heading back to get our stuff. She was actually heading to a third when I called her over and said to get our tortillas and salsa. The food was very tasty. The tortillas are excellent — both the flour and corn are made in-house. I liked the salsa quite a bit. The beans are maybe 3-star, but the eggs and sauce were excellent. You can see from the photo that the plating is pretty simple. My wife got the machaca and eggs with beans and her plate looked the same — no garnish or anything. That would be easy to work on if they wanted to. I’m giving it four stars though, for a couple of reasons. One, the food was good. Two, the waitress was as nice as she could be. She really was trying, but she was disorganized. I’d say untrained, but the restaurant didn’t look like it had any sort of system to train her on. I’ll be back though. Like I said, the food was good and there were a bunch of other items on the menu that look really good for breakfast.

This place when first opened was really tasty and delish. But today we got a a burrito, a quesadilla, guacamole dip, and beans. Ok let’s get this started. I like to take this opportunity to see how much food I’m gonna get. I took all the meat out of the burrito and I was shocked.(Maybe I’m used to places like like filibertos where the burrito is stacked.) but this burro was all tortilla. The quesadilla was mini not small. The guacamole had lettuce in it, that was hiding underneath the guacamole, very odd. I’ve never heard of lettuce in guacamole dip, but maybe that’s just me. The beans, are bland. From our first experience their chips have been stale, like they were made weeks in advance and were left out uncovered the entire time. The wait for the food is too long for a quick burrito, guacamole and quesadilla. Be careful when the food actually arrived and you attempt to eat it, as it comes out scalding hot like it’s been microwaved for 30mins. All the while there are only 3 other guests in the restaurant. If your in a hurry this is not your place. They are always hiring new staff, and if you need your check, box or anything extra you have to wait forever for each thing. You’ll be lucky if you are in and out within an hour and a half when it should be a 20 – 30 min meal from start to finish.

Mosaic café is traditional mexican food. My go-to’s here are caldo de queso, red menudo, or the chicken fajitas. The horchata is really potent. It’s not the watered down stuff. The tortillas are always fresh and are the REALDEAL. Everything is resonably priced.

One of my favorite spots to go I like how small it is. The food is great. The tacos are my favorite, and you can’t beat home made tortillas.

I used to love this place. They appear to be on the downhill side of a restaurant’s life-cycle bell curve. Mosaic has changed; and not for the good. Today I must have been invisible. Five in our party. The server took orders from the other four and walked away. I guess I’m chopped liver. We called her back and she took my order. She never asked if I wanted anything to drink. Not even water. No chips and salsa either. The food came and she plopped down my order and departed. I waited about ten minutes and finally went to another table to collect silverware and a napkin. The food was not quite as tasty as normal. I was very disappointed. Almost a 1 Star. Sad.

I’ve never had a bad experience at Mosaic. The chips, salsa, tortillas and mole are out of this world. Mosaic is also a great place for breakfast or brunch. Relaxed low key setting and good service.

Tried this place for breakfast. In a strip mall across from Foothills Mall. About 50 seats. Some traditional breakfast items, but mostly Mexican fare. Good stuff. They’re OK with substitutions. Coffee could be better. Dinner menu looks good. We’ll be back for dinner.

I was really looking forward to trying this place after reading the 1st few reviews. Walked in and stood there for a while before being greated. There were two servers walking around and only 2 or 3 occupied tables. We were sat at a dirty table(orange juice all over a chair, salt and pepper shakers covered in salsa, dirty napkin and silverware had chorizo fingerprints). I used the dirty napkin to clean the chair and moved the dirty shakers away from us. PROS: Orange juice Refried beans Both the flour and the corn tortillas are good. Nopal salsa CONS: Service Coffee Menudo was not good at all. Everything else was very bland and could use some flavor. I should have read all the reviews…

Very nice overall experience. We will eat here again! The place was hopping on a Friday night at dinner time. We were able to get one of the few remaining tables. Busy in Tucson usually translates into great food and this place was no exception to that. Our drink order was taken after a few minutes and chips and salsa was on the table. I went with the house margarita and it was good. The salsa was very good and had just the right amount of heat. We both went with the dinner plates and they were great. This place is a winner if you are hungry

Walking in it appears to be one of those family restaurants, simple atmosphere. When they brought the chips and salsa, I was impressed with the salsa. They had a few specials, but ordered the chicken mole. Wow! I have never had mole like that. Very enjoyable. Totally impressed with the taste. One piece of chicken was a little tough, but the rest was tender. The rice was different, but enjoyable. Would definitely go back for some more mole and maybe some other dishes.

This place was pretty amazing and here’s why: 1. They have made from scratch tortillas that would rock anybody and every-bodies world(especially when they are hot and fresh) 2. The staff is super friendly 3. There is a homely feel to it that makes you feel like your grandma is going to come right out of the kitchen with your plate. 4. The food is awesome! Unlimited chips and salsa, great tacos, burritos and so much more!

When I first moved to Marana, this became my go to place for breakfast on the weekend. Excellent 5 out 5 star meals every time. The only problem the service was poor 1 – 2 stars out of 5 every time. I have had dinner with one or two tables filled and the service will be the same; they bring EXCELLENT salsa and chips after taking a drink order, but then they won’t come take your food order. After 8 years, the same owner working there as a waiter, remains providing the same lackluster service. I couldn’t be more frustrated since they have great food. Our last visit there, they had about half the tables full Sunday at 9am. We sit down immediately, and we were handed one menu. After 15 minutes of waiting my husband said they had 5 minutes and then he was leaving; we were not offered drinks. no silverware, no greeting, no acknowledgement that they would be with us in a minute; my husband got up and left basically announced he will never come back and I sadly had to follow.
