This was not at all what I was expecting, but it was good. I hadn’t heard of it before and assumed it was going to be a fancy sit-down restaurant but it was in a re-purposed fast food restaurant off Grant near the Arby’s just west of the 10. I got shrimp tacos that were delicious, and my boyfriend enjoyed his burrito. I have a hard time finding good seafood in general, and fish tacos in particular, in AZ, so when I saw that there was a place in Tucson where that was their specialty, I was thrilled. It wasn’t the nicest restaurant in town but it was clean, the people were nice, the food was good and came out fast, and the service was good.

Holy mackerel! Victor, the owner’s nephew, is one enthusiastic dude, sweetly welcoming you and then talking up the business when you’re comfortably seated. I had planned to get a quick fish sandwich next door until I saw this place. I jumped on my Unilocal app and saw the high ratings so I went in. So glad I did. The large portion of pescado mojo de ajo, $ 10.99, was very tasty and the plate well-presented. This place gets high marks from me for friendliness and hospitality.

Based on the other reviews on Unilocal,I was expecting the most amazing fish tacos ever. I ordered the battered fish taco plate which consisted of two huge fish tacos, rice, and beans. The plate was very filling, but I found the fish tacos to be very bland. I could taste a white pepper flavor in the batter, but that was it. I have had battered fish tacos from other places that are very crispy on the outside, but the tacos that I had here were on the soggy side even though I started eating them right away. The other two members of my party had the Mixta Fajitas(shrimp, chicken, and beef fajitas) and the Mojarra Frita(whole fried tilapia) and they really enjoyed their dishes. The most interesting dish that I saw on the menu was the Cocos con Mariscos(coconut with assorted seafood). The picture in the menu looked beautiful and now I kind of regret not getting it. All in all, portion sizes here are large and prices are reasonable especially for a seafood-based menu. Food is decent, but I may have set my expectations too high for my dish. I will try something else on the menu if I return. Service was very nice.

On my first visit, I was surprised to find out that this was a locally owned restaurant. Mr. Baja Fish looks and feels like a franchise, with its color matched seats, polished signage and spiral bound and laminated menus. I was pleased to be eating at a local restaurant. Upon sitting, we were served chips with salsa and bean dip. The chips were fresh, crispy, and delicious.(I find that too many Mexican restaurants serve stale and oil drenched chips). Although I like the spiciness of the salsa, I found it be to be overwhelmingly vinegary; I could not detect the taste of tomatoes, onion and garlic. The bean dip, on the other hand, was very good. I ordered a taco plate with asada and fish. Fish taco was tasty, but Carne Asada was too fatty snd chewy to enjoy fully. Refried beans were excellent. The dinner was affordable at $ 8.50 after tax. The service was top-notch(perhaps being local means being nice as well). The manager and the staff were always available with a smile. Mr. B offers many good things(good prices, top-notch service, crispy chips, delicious beans, and fish taco), but it misses marks with salsa and Asada. Also, this restaurant could look and feel more like a local home-grown restaurant(at this point, it feels very Corporate Americana and lacks character). BTW, if I am picking on the look of the place, obviously it must be a decent place to eat! I’ll come try other items in the future.

Excellent fish tacos! The taco plate was delicious with tasty rice and beans and pickled onions and a roasted pepper. Chips and 2 different salsas were served in the beginning. Excellent service too.

A family run Mexican restaurant with excellent food and reasonable prices. It is in a converted fast food restaurant so atmosphere is similar. A two taco fish plate with rice and beans is $ 7.79 with table service.

We stopped at Mr Baja Fish for a late lunch while passing through Tucson. It was amazing. We all had some variation of fish or shrimp tacos and no one was disappointed. These were authentic tacos(read: not goopy cheese covered Tex-Mex), with plenty of fresh veggies and a delicious sauce. The fried fish was fresh tasting and didn’t taste like it was soaked in grease, despite being fried. The pre-meal chips and hot sauce are also served with bean dip. Both the hot sauce and bean dip were a bit spicy for my personal preference, but my husband really enjoyed both.

Worst service ever. Went in tonight. There was only 1 table full, we were sat. Waited a good 20 – 30 minutes and were never acknowledged, brought menus, or even asked for something to drink. I spent quite some time trying to wave someone down but was ignored. Eventually, I gave up and left. Pathetic service for mediocre at best food. If you need Baja Mexican seafood, go to mariachis, at least you’ll get a drink there.

Mom and Pop Mexican restaurant with a refreshing menu twist. Almost the entire menu is fish and seafood. It was very difficult to decide on what to eat because the menu is filled with good-looking items. The owner was on premises and was very attentive to everyones needs. Our waiter was excellent and the food was delicious. We had a variety of shrimp dishes and everything was delicious. I would like to try some more of their menu items.

Okay — this is seafood like you get it down in Sonora on the Golfo at a little dive place in Kino Bay. That’s hard to find up north of the border fence, and the few places you might see it are often a little intimidating to gringos like me. Yay for Mr. Baja Fish for making this kind of yummy seafood available to the truly white folks who miss their vacations in Bahia Kino! PS — their bean dip is like crack! Warning!

Treat yourself to something new and dine at Mr Baja Fish. We had two wonderful dishes of shrimp, clams oysters with rice and beans.

I have had the fish burritos, shrimp burritos, fish ceviche tostadas, shrimp tacos(breaded/grilled), and fish tacos(breaded/grilled). Everything was super on point. You need to go here. It’s affordable and delicious. These people know what they’re doing. This is definitely Baja style seafood and it beats Rubio’s hands down. No contest really.

This is one of those hidden wonders of the west side. Damn good fish tacos, especially the grilled ones, and the whole fish plates are a badass feast for 2. Also it’s right around the corner from Tucson best IPA brewery — Crouching Tiger Hidden Dragoon. Usually we get the tacos to go and eat them at Dragoon for some awesome fish and beer! The chips here come with warm refried bean dip which is bangin! &… the Margarita is not bad, depending on who makes it.

I am going to give Mr. Baja Fish 5 stars strictly for its fish tacos. Whether you get the fried fish or grilled fish, you won’t be disappointed. Both have very large portions of fish and are packed with flavor. They also come with tasty rice and a grilled pepper. An added bonus of Mr. Baja Fish is that is one of the few places within walking distance of Dragoon Brewery. So… get some tacos and drink some tasty beer.

Very clean, well kept. They give you bean dip but it’s made with something else in it. It’s good. They serve alcohol. It’s seafood restaurant but also Mexican food for those that don’t like eating seafood. This is our 2nd time… only thing is I wish they cleaned the shrimp

Drive thru review — food was thrown all into the compartments ended up being all mixed up. My flour tortillas for my tacos were super soggy with grease. Never again drive thru. I’ll just come in to eat for now on.

We continue to come here every other week. One thing we love is the generous portions.(We love it because we always have our two toddlers with us and love the fact that they can eat off our plate) The calamari was delicious the first time we got it a few months ago but yesterday it wasn’t as great. Still really good and a big serving but I wasn’t a fan of the batter used to fry it. It wasn’t as crispy as it used to be. It was almost soft with very little crunch. The fish tacos are still as good as they were the first time we came here. I absolutely love the way they cook the rice. It tastes so buttery. Whatever it is the owner is doing, he’s doing it right. We’ve met him a couple times at the restaurant and he seems really nice and knowledgable in the food business. All of the staff has always been friendly and accommodating to our two two year olds.

I have to say not such a bad spot but I was expecting more. I ordered a fish burrito and it was 80% rise … No need for a big burrito if it’s full of rise, just make it smaller but more flavorful it’s not hard. Big isn’t always better.

Unfathomably good. Grilled fish tacos are amazing, huge, and amazingly cheap. We came here last night for dinner and it was so good we had to return for lunch today. Skip the platter and just get 2 tacos– the rice and beans are good, but I was full after the tacos and didn’t end up eating them. If I were still hungry, I’d prefer a third taco. Also super inexpensive. Each taco is less than $ 3, which puts 2 tacos are well less than a chipotle burrito, while being 500 times better and at least as filling.
