Cheap and delicious Mexican food, come on, you can’t argue with that. :) The salsa was a little weak but not a deal breaker. I’ll just get something a little hotter next time! Also very nice guy taking my order and cooking the food. I would come back!

Came here on new years because everything else was closed. Great food! The ambience here is great with the wall decorations and brick floor. Traditional Mexican food.

Fresh made tortilla chips, fresh guac… the beef and chicken enchiladas are some of the best I’ve ever had. The enchilada red sauce is not my favorite,…i can only describe it as being more like a thinner mole sauce, but it’s still tasty. The parking lot is a questionable due to the other businesses in the little strip mall(seriously,…how many vape shops are there in Tujunga ?!) so the curb appeal is unassuming. Great service, clean, and inviting inside.

Best home made menudo in town!!! I tried other places and this place beats all. Menudo is made on saturdays and sundays only its fresh and its delish. They have other authentic mexican plates. Great prices and friendly staff.

People who refuse to come out to Sunland don’t know what they’re missing. My boyfriend and i went here for Sunday lunch and got asada tacos combo, asada quesadilla combo, and the piña colada drink for only $ 15 and they were all bangin’ good! The red and green hot sauces were both amazing, though my taste buds leaned a little more towards the smoky flavor of the red, and the drink washed everything down perfectly. My boyfriend who ordered the quesadilla is always so willing to give and share with me, but i picked up on his reluctance when i asked for my third bite of his dish. he tried really hard to hide it but i could tell. i am such a fan of these small family-owned restaurants. the woman who took our order couldn’t have been older than like, 23, and i saw a boy who looked to be about 11 or 12 in the back cleaning cups. both of them, and the man doing the cooking, were all working so hard. watching them made me feel warm and fuzzy inside. i 100% for sure will be back.

I went in this restaurant to get a bite to eat, I ordered a double cheeseburger, Oh man! was it good… It came with bacon in it too. Yum Yum… It also came with a order of fries. I am very picky when it comes to food, But this burger was way better than In & Out Burgers or any burger I have ever tasted in my life. I will probably go there every day for this amazing double cheeseburger! And the waitress was so kind and helpful. Nice quiet place to eat. Debbie Bryant

Now before I write this review you all should know i don’t like Mexican food! ok? thanks. Anyways back to my review… this place is good and its close to my casa(LOL) so i was doing laundry next to this place and my parents wanted to go in i have been here before but that was way back when they were owned by someone else now it is way better(good thing i did write this review back then he) i had a cheese burger and fries and it was so yummy i know i know a cheeseburger at a Mexican place am i crazy… yes! i must be. anyways my parents like Mexican food they had 2 dishes that are traditional dishes in Mexico and they were prepared very pretty and hot it looked to pretty to eat. but my mom said it was sooo so good and the service was excellent and a plus they had TV and the lady gave us the remote so we could watch what we wanted nice huh? it always looks empty but i figure that’s how you get the service cause they focus on you. but they are totally good and cheap so try it. it looks like a dump but its not so my suggestion… GOTRYITNOW! what are you waiting for?

To answer your question«Mary B,» Finding wonderful little family-owned eateries and sharing them with each other is really what Unilocal is all about. A question worth asking Unilocal members is: «Why did you start your Unilocal account?» That is exactly why, I’m all about supporting the little guy bustin’ his A%$ trying to make a living, and in most cases you’ll find better tasting and more authentic Mexican food from those small places, street vendors etc. Another reason I love Unilocal is you can find places like this that I might not have found on my own since I don’t frequent that area. So thanks to Mary B. for sharing her review on El Rincon but… I’m now craving BBQ and peach cobbler. It’s a small place but has a good menu selection, so I decide to try a couple tacos and some mole poblano. Tacos — Lengua — there’s nothing like a little tongue, and this one is tasty!, nice tender meat, I prefer it shredded instead of cubed but it’s all good. Al Pastor — was very flavorful, meat was very moist and tender, I’m sure they don’t have a trompo here but they sure do get the flavor. Salsa — to me was a fail, very bland flavor tasted like a thinned out tomato sauce. Mole Poblano con Polo — wow the mole was EXCELLENT, what great flavor!, and the chicken breast was cooked perfectly still moist
but the rice was hummmm not all that and unfortunately the beans were horrible. The beans were lighter in color than a normal pinto bean should be and a very odd taste, when I asked what kind of beans they used I was told pinto, Hmmm so why the odd taste?, well after talking with them for awhile as they were real nice people, I found out they are using vegetable shortening, «YUCK». Seriously this is MEXICAN food and you are in Tujunga, NOT yuppy ville Beverly Hills, Silver Lake etc with all the vegetarians, keep it real and if you don’t want to use lard?, psst use«Corn Oil» to re-fry your beans. All and all food is excellent but sides are sub par!, so I’d say your 3.5 pushing 4-Stars, and I’d definitely go back when in the area.

Finding wonderful little family-owned eateries and sharing them with each other is really what Unilocal is all about. A question worth asking Unilocal members is: «Why did you start your Unilocal account?» I’ve heard many different answers on the subject but the most endearing of all was recently when a well-deserved«Elite» member, a truest foodie, a young man from Atlanta(Joe) told me this story: He was on a road trip and spied many a billboard advertisements for a chain Barbecue restaurant. After miles of driving he pulled into the Barbecue restaurant that was assigned no billboard, thinking that it deserved a shot. After enjoying the absolute best barbecue of his life, he was invited to an unlimited plate of peach cobbler. Peach cobbler just happens to be sincerely treasured by our hero of this story. Wanting to alert his fellow man about the potential injustice of mass advertisement as misleading to customers, steering them away from«the best barbecue ever» coupled with endless peach cobbler, our friend started a Unilocal account and gave a dissertation on his personal experience as a true gift to his fellow barbecue and peach cobbler lovers of the world. My induction was less generous but I am moved nonetheless and herein lies my attempt to duplicate such generosity for my fellow man: El Rincon is a tiny Mexican restaurant on Foothill Blvd. in Tujunga and not a far commute for those taking me up on my advice to go vintage shopping at Sun thrift in Sunland. My sister and I gave this place a shot after vintage scoring this week. Why did we pull in to this place when there were many others to chose from? Fate. Set in a strip mall with convenient free parking, it is a small casual place patronized by local workers. In other words, the two blond girls had the place all to ourselves:-) Liquados, jugos naturales, aguas frescas and American and Latin soft drinks are all available to drink. Pictures that you can point to will help you out with your decision making:-) We asked for chips and salsa, which they made fresh much to my astonishment; light crispy chips made from handmade tortillas and fresh salsa, on the house. Here is what I REALLY didn’t expect and why I am proud to be the first to review this business: The Pipian de Pollo!($ 8.50) *closes eyes in dreamy state* is actually the best pumpkin seed mole that I have ever had in my life. A true gastronomy dish of tender fall off the bone chicken, in a sauce that is probably a family dynasty and topped with pumpkin seeds and nage. WTF? It is served with beans and rice that while made from scratch is rather typical of any good Mexican eatery. My sister and I are quick to order a second round of tortillas(hecho a mano) and plead for a side of this decadent pumpkin seed mole sauce that we are now sword fighting over. The victor will be the envied one who gets to lick the plate clean. Our requests are granted and to my surprise when the bill comes, on the house?!! Are you kidding me?!! I feel like someone just parked a free car in my driveway and left the keys in the mailbox!!! Friends, when you next have a cold, I suggest the caldo de pollo(chicken soup), no harina(no flour) for my fellow gluten free friends. It is the most rustic, made from scratch chicken soup ever and it is as comforting and curing as as our Grandmother’s was with all the love that it was made with. The menu is written in English, Spanish, and point-able pictures for those that speak only martian! It has a fast-food casual ambiance with waiter service, open seven days a week and takes phone orders(allow up to ten minutes) Little finds like this that might go overlooked are the truest reason to alert each other as friends and comrades. This generosity is not instilled in me, I am much more selfish! I am taking note, following in better footsteps than my own and learning lessons in character from 21 year boys whose generosity should be admired by us all and whose status being proclaimed«Elite» is so sincerely deserved. *Afterthought: After dining here and falling desperately in love with their pipian de pollo(pumpkin seed mole) I have tried desperately to find it elsewhere or recreate it and failed. All of the grocery-storebrands of pipian de pollo have wheat ingrediants:-(Local restaurants have admitted to the same flaw. To date. This is the only place that I can recommend a gluten-free(harina-free) pumpkin seed mole. ITISAMAZING! Try it. You will love it:-)
