I would really love to give this place a good review but the food there is HORRIBLE. Everything besides pizza is just horrible! The staff seems nice and our waitress was very sweet but I just can’t seem to get over the quality of the food. Everything is covered in an abundance of sauce or dressing. I love dressing like most of us but there is always WAY to much! I ordered the shrimp linguini last night and it was basically a bunch of noodles in a soup of butter and mostly Oil. And I got three shrimp. I paid 16 $ and some change do an oil soup with some noodles with only a few shrimp. I thought maybe the butter sauce might be okay to dip my bread in. Oh no! It was disgusting! It tasted fishy. Gross. Never again!

Everytime I order the same pizza I get a different product. Sometimes its playdoh, sometimes they give it to me to finish at home. Upgrade your oven or sell it frozen. Thanks. And… the calamari is more like a fish stickish mozzarella thing that I dont know what to do with. One more thing, chef boyardee wants their overcooked noodles back!

First time I ate their food I hated it because the meatballs were bland and tasted greasy. I recommend getting the Alfredo pastas

DiCarlo’s is a nice alternative to the ubiquitous fast food options on Marine Corps bases. We were greeted warmly at the door, seated promptly, and waited on with a smile by server Amy. We got our order quickly. The food was pretty good — perhaps a bit on the salty side, but it still made for a good lunch. The marinara sauce on the baked lasagna and cannelloni was really good, and the garlic bread was fresh and crispy. I agree with one of the commentators that a lunch menu with lower prices and smaller portion sizes would be a nice option. We would eat here again.

Ended up getting a pasta meal with an alternate sauce and a bottled soda. The pasta was good and clearly homemade rather than frozen. The sauce was much improved from my first visits so that was nice, but definitely not worth the $ 20 it cost for one meal. Got the order to go and ended up with garlic bread instead of breadsticks, no utensils, and no napkins after a fairly long wait. Pretty disappointing.

If you want a calzone be prepared to wait a long time to get it. Recommend you order the salads with the dressing on the side. Wed nite kids eat free — bonus. Good pizza.

So here’s the deal… this place can be great or terrible depending on what you order. My wife and I have had lunch here once a month for the last year and a half and have tried pretty much everything on the menu. What’s great: stromboli, soups, subs, seasoned fries, pizza, veal/chicken picatta. The Cobb salad is one of my faves and even if you get the small size, it’s enough for two meals by itself. What’s bad: almost everything else. For the price you pay, I expect fresh meat and scratch made sauces, but even if they claim otherwise, that’s not what you’ll get. Every pasta dish I’ve tried has been bland sauce with lots of noodles from a box and little meat or veggies. The pesto tastes like it came from a Knorr packet and the marinara seems to be straight out of a can. You must choose, but choose wisely… PS. To the dude that complained about being asked to remove his head gear… it’s a Marine Corps base. You ought to know better anyway

This restaurant is complicated. I feel like the owners have given up. I truly believe the only reason people come through the door at this point is because casual dining options in Twentynine Palms are so limited. I have ordered many things from their menu to really try and love this place. Unfortunately, there are a lot of problems with the food, atmosphere and prices. Their prices are really high for the quality of food. They need to offer a lunch menu with lower prices. The prices are higher than you would expect than an Olive Garden with about a quarter of the quality. Consistency seems to be an issue. Every kind of pasta dish/entrée I have ordered has no flavor at all. All the sauces taste canned or jarred. I once had the spinach ravioli that clearly tasted like it was frozen, they microwaved it, and didn’t even drain out the excess watery freeze burn residue liquid. Their salads are enormous. The portion sizes are way too big even for the small salad. I ordered a glass of wine once and the glass was so big and so full for $ 7.00 I felt awkward with this filled to the brim glass. I was thinking they could have filled it half way, charged $ 5.00 and make a much higher profit. Instead I ended up leaving half of it on the table. The atmosphere is rather sterile. The TVs create a different and less friendly ambiance than would be expected in an Italian restaurant. The biggest reason my family and I return here is for the staff. I have always had a great experience with the wait staff with a smile on their face and sometimes a pained look is if they know you may not enjoy your meal but do not take it out on them on the tip. The cooks in the back on occasion have been loud and rowdy. Talking very loudly about their personal life. I notice this when the owner is not around. The owner always seems friendly and talkative when we are there, but I often wonder with all the passion he shows towards the guests, it is a shame it doesn’t show in their food.

First of all, they can’t get their prices right. I’ve ordered the same thing on two different weeks, and they tried to charge me different prices. The lasagna is good, but the serving portion is ridiculous considering the price. The tiramisu serving portion is a few bites, and not worth the money you pay. The prices are just outrageous considering this place is inside a Marine Corps base in Twentynine Palms — NOT Palm Springs! The alfredo cream sauce is lacking. The bolognese sauce tastes funny. My spaghetti with bolognese sauce was a whopping $ 17 after taxes… OMG!!! I have been here enough times to give it a fair shot and my advice to you is don’t make the same mistake I made — save your money and go eat elsewhere! It’s clear why people still come here — we are practically on the verge of starvation from the lack of decent food in Twentynine Palms!!!

The worst Italian I’ve ever had. Your sandwiches fall apart, your pasta sauses tastes like they’re from a jar, even your containers are terrible quality. DON’T WASTEYOURMONEYPEOPLE. I spent $ 40 on «food» I could’ve made myself for $ 10 at home. I’m never ordering from this place again in my life.

The first time I dined in was«alright» my pasta was cold though and now the second time I had them deliver to me. For the price it isn’t worth it. I mean if you like jar Alfredo sauce I guess you’d like their Alfredo. But that’s not what I’d expect for a 12 dollar meal when I can make homemade Alfredo for less and have it taste 100% better. Their chicken wings aren’t crispy. And their blue cheese is very very runny. What a mess to eat.

Absolutely terrible. The food was nearly inedible. The servers seemed to recognize this, as they never even asked how our food tasted.

Decent soup of the day and unfortunately that was it. The pasta noodle for my wife’s and my dishes were ok and the sauce on her fish was over powering and totally off. The staff is nice and it’s the only place onbase to sit down in front of a menu. Kind of disappointing.

My family and I just had lunch here today and was very impressed by the food quality. We ordered a personal pepperoni pizza, a Stromboli and cannolis. Everything was perfect and our server, Amanda, was very accommodating. We didn’t come at a busy time… noon on a Saturday. The wait wasn’t terrible for made to order pizzas and Stromboli. If we lived on base, we would certainly patronize this business weekly! Being from PA, my husband is used to eating Stromboli and this was the best he’s ordered outside of PA. Also, the cannolis were great and made from scratch, but a bit on the expensive side. All in all, I’ll definitely come here when we vacation in the area again. I highly recommend this establishment.

It’s ok food for the price. Nothing worth going back for. It’s the only place besides Carls Jr. near my house to eat so I’ve had to go there a few more times than I’ve wanted to to meet friends or for a quick date night. Every time I go there I get food poisoning though. I think it’s the salad. I’ve gotten the Greek, house side, antipasti and the Caesar Salad before and have gotten SO sick afterwards. I thought maybe it had to be something else making me sick but then I’ve had a few friends get sick off their salad too. Maybe it’s the lunch meat they put on it or the lettuce itself I don’t know but it’s been the most sick I’ve ever been in my life. I also heard from an employee there that the owner is mean when anybody leaves a bad review and talks crap about that person so I’ve never left one in the past. I’m moving in 5 days so I can post without fear!
