Great food, large portions, great service. We got our food quickly. Tasted fresh, veggies had snap, beef tender. We had China Gate Pan fried noodles, veggie egg fu yung and white rice. There were just the two of us, so we have more than enough for tomorrow night. Hot tea is lovely and jello, almond cookie and fortune cookie complimentary. No complaints!

I have been going to this restaurant for over 15yrs now. First and foremost, the food is always EXCELLENT! Staff is friendly, but… it REALLY needs som TLC with décor, updating. Because they have yummy food and are friendly I continue to go back. But if I were a first time customer, i would not return. Time for some renovations China Gate.

Very clean, quick service. This place is by far the best Chinese place in the I.E. Food is a great portion and the staff is courteous. When you walk in you are seated promptly and helped right away. If anyone has anything bad to say it’s just because they weren’t polite probably. anyway… 5Stars hands down!

I was searching Unilocal for a local healthy place to eat at but then I saw a picture of Shrimp Fried Rice and my cravings got a hold of me. I saw this place had some good looking Shrimp Fried Rice and decided I wanted to try it. The restaurant is older, kind of one of those little hole in the wall spots but those spots usually have the best food. They served us fried wontons with sweet and sour sauce and hot mustard. They give you hot tea and water to start off. I was thinking«Yum! Tea!» but I was disappointed to find the tea tasted flavorless. You may need to drown it in sugar for some flavor but I wasn’t down for that so I decided to move on to my water instead. The water tasted like it came out of the hose lol. My cousin and I ordered Shrimp Fried Rice and Orange Chicken. There was some confusion with the waiter because we had mentioned the Kung Pao Chicken but ordered Orange Chicken. The food only took a few minutes to bring out so that was great. It was probably already made but still tasted very fresh. The waiter ended up bringing us Kung Pao Chicken by mistake but we were too hungry to change the order. The Kung Pao Chicken ended up being really good as well as the rice but I think the portion sizes were a bit small for the price. After eating, they give you free Jello, a fortune cookie and another cookie. The amount of time we spent eating wasn’t very long so you can potentially be in and out of this place in 20 – 30 minutes.(Note: The restaurant was not busy when we came which was around dinner time.) The waiters were quick and friendly. Overall, I only gave this place four stars because the food was good but everything else was pretty average. I’d recommend it if you’re looking for Chinese food in the area but I wouldn’t say drive far to come here.

I really need 3.5 stars for this review, but I cannot round up to a 4. The Good: the incredible mu shu pork that comes with an extra pitcher of plum sauce… so yum! And for some reason I cannot explain, the paper-wrapped chicken is finger-lickin’ good. Also phenomenal service. The Meh: the house special pan-fried noodles. This may be their specialty and was cooked well, but it completely lacked flavor. There is also a huge pu-pu platter with many choices, but the pork spareribs and fried shrimp are overcooked, the beef skewers needed a dipping sauce, and the egg rolls are a waste of time. The BLECH: the dirty walls, floors, booths, and ummm… everything. Also, most dishes seemed too oily for my taste.

The place was clean and the food was good but the biggest issue I had was the customer service. Once we were seated the waiter took about half an hour to come over to us. He didn’t ask if we wanted drinks, he simply asked«You ready?». I’m pretty sure everyone is allergic to smiling there. If may have just been a bad night for everyone so it’s hard to say. The food was pretty good though. We got the Royal Dinner so everyone got an entrée of Mushroom Chicken, shrimp in lobster sauce and sweet and sour pork. It came with brown rice and we asked for white rice. The appetizer was an egg roll, shrimp and wrapped chicken, that was one for each person. Wonton soup was also given as a starter. Again, great tasting food with decent prices, this dinner was only $ 14.95 a person. It was the service that we had an issue with.

Based on Unilocal reviews I would assume this place would be gross. However it is delicious and the place is clean! Some Unilocalers complained it’s dirty/let me clarify… This place is very clean and organized however it is an old building and I guess some people confused that with cleanliness. Anyways I called Sunday to see how busy the place was for lunch. The nice gentleman on the phone was so friendly and he told me he would have a booth ready for me. So awesome! So we arrive and true to his word we were seated promptly and we had a nice booth with ice waters and hot tea and some yummy crispy chip things we dipped in some hot mustard and ketchup. We all ordered lunch specials Beef broccoli Mixed vegetables And beef chow mein All came out hot and fresh and delicious ! I was pleased to learn each entrée also came with soup wontons egg rolls and a cabbage salad At the end we also got cookies and jello This place goes above and beyond feeding you! I can’t wait to come back and bring my friends!

We go here often, the price is good, the food is good, and there are always leftovers which are good! For lunch you get a salad, egg roll, chicken wrap, soup, rice, jello, cookie, fortune cookie with your meal. I have never had a bad experience here. The wait staff is always friendly and prompt. We will keep going here regularly, and we recommend it to friends.

Came here with my parents for the lunch specials. It ends at 3pm. The range of prices were about $ 7 – 9 for each lunch combo. We got the sweet and sour chicken and honey walnut shrimp. They ask you if you want either wonton or hot and sour soup(hot and sour’s better) and either steamed or fried rice. We got fried. Pretty good. They also give you crunchy noodles, egg rolls and what I think were little fishballs as appetizers. The soup comes with a mini salad. The portion of the entrée looks small but is actually pretty decent considering all the other stuff they give you. At the end we also go jello and cookies(fortune and almond). All sorts of treats. Food is pretty good and service is good as well. Will come back again!

I used to come here regularly several years ago, and am pleased to report that upon a recent return little has changed in the long interval between visits. My last outing was rewarded with big and perfectly cooked Pan-fried Pork Pot Stickers, good Fried Fantail Shrimp, good but mushy Vegetable Egg Rolls, and superior large and lean all white-meat chicken morsels alongside medium-sized shrimp with a fine broth for Sizzling Rice Two-Flavors Soup. Enough soup was provided to easily satisfy four people in one order, even though I was just dining with Diane. But not to worry. The broth tasted so good, I lapped up all of it. Crisp Soup Noodles were excellent, but the accompanying Sweet & Sour Sauce was thin and runny. Kung Pao Chicken featured excellent chicken without either gristle or fat. And Beef with Snow Peas sported small, best tasting Snow Peas nicely done with onions and water chestnuts, although I would have been fine skipping the scalloped carrots. Service was very good and attentive, although the first entrée came on the heels of the Pot Stickers. I received thin slices of ginger and the extra sauces I requested for these doughy beauties: Hoisin Sauce, Hot Chili Oil, and Sweet & Sour Sauce. But a peanut-based sauce is served here as the basic flavor enhancer for Pot Stickers rather than a classic soy-based Pot Sticker Sauce. All entrees were hot and tasty, and portions were generous – enough for a filling dinner and take-home lunch for the next day. Our booth was cold and sunken, but comfortable enough, with a glass table top. Christmas music was piped in overhead. We were given complimentary Orange Jello, Almond Cookies, AND Fortune Cookies at meal’s end. I will not let the grass grow so long before my next return. 4−½ stars overall!

Service is mediocre, as are the food and prices. The real problem is that the place is incredibly filthy and hasn’t been cleaned it years. Just imagine the kitchen that’s making your food

Love the 3 shreds of sizzling rice soup, house pan fried noodle, and crab rangoon. Very authentic and super fresh. Place is a little out dated and needs a remodel.

I have been her a few times. The food was always good. A little dated and in need of a good cleaning. Well today my sister and niece went in for lunch. She has been a regular customer for at least 9 years. She calls me up to tell me what they witnessed at lunch. They give you wonton chips for an appetizer when you sit down. Well my sister and niece were sitting in the restaurant where they could see them getting the wontons. They saw them stack the dirty bowls off the tables and reuse them. They even saw them add more wontons from a dirty table and serve to the customers. She complained and they say ok! That is effin nasty! The health dept needs to pay them a visit. Gross

Well, I’ve been here only once, so time will tell on this review. I can see why a lot of my fellow Unilocalers went with relatively low ratings, but I personally had a good experience with a pretty flavorful dish called«fish in black bean sauce». I was seated promptly and attended to by numerous people throughout my visit. I was served a glass of water, along with complimentary hot tea and fried wonton strips. I placed an order for the fish with black bean sauce, and out came a small cabbage salad, egg roll, and foil-wrapped ground meat dumpling thing. All fairly decent. This was followed by my entrée, the fish in black bean sauce, which also had onion and green bell pepper pieces. A side of fried rice came along with it. Everything was steaming hot, a sign of freshness(the plate showed no signs of heat lamp usage). Texture and flavor were good, a bit salty as others have noted. Finally, a jello cup, fortune cookie, and almond cookie were served. In general, was this«amazing» food? No, but it was pretty good and the service was good, too. The value was there for me, considering I ordered from the lunch menu.

Came here for lunch a few months ago with a co-worker. She ate here *before* and said this place was very good, so I thought I’d give it a try. I walked in without any expectations since some places can surprise you in a good way if you don’t have high expectations to begin with. We both ordered the lunch specials. The appetizer, salad, and soup all came out within 5 minutes. Salad was ok. Egg drop soup, bluhhh. Spring roll — can’t really go too wrong with it. Paper-wrapped chicken? Ughhh, looked and tasted like dog food. One small bite was enough. Entrée was aiiight. I can’t remember what I ordered but I managed to eat most of it. Like most Chinese joints around the area, this place was a big disappointment and not worth it. Panda Express is better than what I had here, and that’s saying a lot cuz I don’t like Panda.

Every time we come here the service is exceptional… I suppose you could call us «regulars». We are probably here at least twice a month. It’s pretty much our go to Chinese Restaurant in town. We have pretty much tried most of the menu items over time and have to say nothing has disappointed. Our favs are the Mongolian Beef, Tofu in brown sauce(not fried) and bbq pork chow mein… Prices are reasonable, portion sizes decent and they give you a jello cup with fortune/almond cookie at the end of your meal. Pretty deluxe… Lol!

I’m always here and I always think the foods is mediocre(my husband doesn’t like change). I notice that the more we come the less jolly the front guy gets, almost rude. But I get it. They are catering towards old white people and are probably wondering why we are there. The dinner portions are the exact same size as the lunch portions but you’re paying twice as much. $ 14 vs $ 8. Plus during lunch you get free rice, soup, egg roll, cabbage salad and this thing of foil chicken parts. If you insist on coming here, plan for lunch because that is your best value. Food is salty. Service is average. I like the almond cookies with tea at the end and free jello is always good.
