When did they change the breading for the beehive cake? Usually its a light fluffy breading that is used. And I love it. For the week of valentine i had called to order a beehive cake and picked it up on Saturday. When i got home and cut into the cake it was totally different bread. It tasted like hard old carrot cake. This was the worst cake I had ever tasted in my life. After this experience I will not be buying anymore cakes from this place.

Freaking yum. Unilocal guided us to this small German shop/Deli and did not dissappoint. I was a little confused because it is TINY and on top of that half store half deli. We had the chicken schnitzel sandwich with warm potato salad and the been rouladen with spatzel and red cabbage. So amazing! We got an apple willi on our way out. It was like an apple pie cookie in the best possible way. Apparently they’ve been open for 40 years and I completely understand why. We will definitely find our way back!

I am always up for a good German meal, in fact, my family tree is overwhelmingly German genes(maybe even lederhosen), so that may have something to do with that. I find German cuisine is a real scarcity in the Inland Empire and the really good ones are quite a drive for me. I might not have found them. This cute little deli-market is hidden in a small strip mall surrounded by a mass of other businesses strung along the main artery known as Foothill Blvd, many of which represent the all-American melting pot of other ethnicities’ eateries. Thank you my Unilocal friend, Danmo, for calling this to my attention. That’s what friends are for, right? The rustic chalet décor is most adorable. I swear there was that unconscious urge to start saying«Ja» and desire to take a yodeling class. There are probably 6 small tables inside, some shelves stacked with imported goods, a case filled with fresh pastries and cakes that scream Achtung! Deutsche Bäckerei(and yes, they sell and use those magnificent German breads made by LA’s best, Streit Bakery). The small deli case features traditional German meats and cheeses and obviously custom made brats(the austere German lady whom I thought had an uncanny resemblance to my own mirror image, would not disclose who made them, only that they came from LA. Oh well.) The menu offers a small but nice sampling of good sandwiches and hot dishes. The prices are quite reasonable. Cabbage Rolls — Wonderful, wish there were more than just 2 per serving. After having a terrible version just days before, this one was all I had hoped. Tender, moist, with a tangy tomato sauce. It was served with fried potatoes and two slices of excellent rye bread. Nuremburger brat — A good quality veal filling that is slightly more seasoned than the plain veal brat. Larger than a traditional American hot dog, one is quite enough. Veal brat — A good rich, smooth meat filling and more plump than the Nuremberg style. This one(of the two veal brats we tried) turned out to be my favorite. It was comparable in taste to the Weiss Brat we adore from Gazzolo’s in San Bernardino. Red cabbage — A bit sweeter than I am accustomed, less vinegary, with a strong flavor of clove. Good, not great. Hot German potato salad — This had a nice bacon flavor, but again, drier and not quite as vinegary as I am used to. This is not to say it was not good. It was. But my favorite place for hot German potato salad is hours away in the small town of Calimesa, called George’s Market. So this is a good alternative. A lunch meal, quite filling, runs in the $ 7 range and comes with two sides and a slice of rye bread and butter. And your hollow leg will be satisfied. Oh, dear! Don’t forget to pick up some of their bakery goods! My other most reliable Unilocal friend, Rose, who is undeniably German, raved about their pastries. We tried one with apple surrounded by a flaky pastry(but not a strudel), and another large cookie, the dough pinched into a pyramid shape with a raspberry filling. I was completely overcome by the magnificent buttery component in both, and can’t wait to try more. Thank you Rose!

Hard for me to post 5 out of 5 for any German place I go to, because I was spoiled with grandmas cooking as a child, but Upland German Deli is great! The weiners were all very very good! The Polish woman who served me my to go order was a hoot! Great service and great food. I’m sorry, but unless your food tastes like Granda Hedy’s, you won’t be getting 5 stars from me. Overall, great place and competitive prices! I highly recommend! PS: The desserts were amazing!

Had the pleasure of having lunch here. Nice place for a change, stepping back to the old world. My son had the Bavarian Sandwich with the German Potato Salad and I had the Wierneschnitzel(breaded pork) with Spaetzle, so good. Took me back to my childhood, funny how food does that. Also, they have the black forest cherry cake, which you can never pass up, also a 5 star find! The prices are moderate, but the quality is totally there.

My husband and I recently attended an Oktoberfest at a local winery, and he was very disappointed in the food. I’m not well versed in German culture so I had no idea that sauerkraut is supposed to be served hot as is German potato salad(but then why do they call it salad?). Then he ventured over to Alpine Village and had some brats for lunch but was still unimpressed. I remembered seeing this deli in one of the cookie cutter strip malls, and thought maybe, just maybe it’s legit. So we came in for lunch, and I think we struck gold! My husband was very impressed. Who knew such delicious brats were in this tiny little deli, all year round! And the sauerkraut, German potato salad, and red cabbage are all served hot! Delicious baked goods also available. However, the bummer is they are not open for dinner and are closed on Sundays.

Very good food, but high prices. It’s up to you to try it. The Reuben sandwich I had was very good, but I’ve had better. Problem was, I had it to go. They wrapped it in plastic wrap and the bottom bread was completely soaked, it fell apart when I tried to pick it up. It made things very messy for me to eat it. The chicken schnitzel sandwich was also messy, but that was not as big a problem as the Reuben sandwich. It was excellent, but the chicken could have been a bit thicker. This chicken was very thin. It seemed to me, the vegetables and dressing overpowered its flavor and taste. Too bad they didn’t have individual slices of apple strudel and only a whole one they wouldn’t slice. $ 20 dollars for a whole strudel was out of the question. Overall, it was very good. Friendly service, too. Next time, I hope they have some apple strudel available. A bit pricey, like I mentioned before, but if it’s worth it, it is all up to you and how you feel. I’d give it 3.5 stars, but since I can’t, 4 stars is what it gets. Eet smakelijk!

I am a HUGE fan of this place. It’s a small mom and pop place, serving great sandwiches(I’ve had the reuben and the beef dip) and great desserts. It also offers a wide assortment of German candy and canned goods. The staff is always very helpful and friendly, so it feels good supporting this place. There are only a few small tables inside, so it’s not ideal for large groups.
