Love going to this shop! Beautiful selection of yarns. Lots of finished models. The owners Debbie & Sylvia are true professionals in knitting & crochet. There’s always something new that entices me. I wish I lived closer, but I always stop in this store when I’m in the area.

This is one tiny shop that I have ever seen! The employees were very helpful(I forgot their names sadly). Parking was free. It’s kind of easy to miss from the street(I forget which one). In any case, it is a 30 minute drive from my place but totally worth every penny. The shop has lots & lots of yarns to ogle at.

I know i give a lot of 5 stars but I’m a fan of giving positive feedback. This shop has been around for years… And I mean years! Debbie and Sylvia are just the sweetest duo! They are welcoming, helpful and have some of my favorite luxury yarns(Anzula Yarn I’m talking you)! If you are ever in this side of the valley make sure to stop by! Even though it’s in a completely random location(yeah– behind a Jack in the Box) there is always plenty of parking so you can spend hours shopping, sitting and knitting. PS, these ladies know there yarn/knitting/crochet stuff!

I would have a hard time not giving this place five stars. I walked in for the first time and one of the owners, Debbie, said, «Hi! My moms about to go to Carls Junior. Can we bring you anything?» I looked around to see who she was talking to but it was me! I was blown away! Debbie and her mom Sylvia own the store together. Their helpful demeanor makes the store what it is. I politely declined the Carls Junior but Debbie helped me find the yarn and pattern I was looking for. As far as yarns go, they have a small store so there isn’t a TON a variety but every yarn is beautiful and quality. I will absolutely be going back for my next project.

out of all the LYS’s i have been to, this is by far my favorite. the main reason are the owners, Debbie and Sylvia, a mother and daughter team who have been the most helpful in giving tips and ideas for a beginner like me. Debbie, the younger one, happens to be originally a crocheter as i am, and Sylvia is a veteran of knitting. i have a lot of respect for both of them as they have a lot of knowledge of their craft and give great advice and pointers based on their extensive experience. the selection is pretty great despite the small size of the store and the range in prices fit every budget from cheap acrylics to expensive hand-dyed’s. i really like that everything is priced clearly and they even have discounts on yarns that have been on the shelves and may be on their way out to make room for more. there are samples throughout the store which really show the potential of yarns you might want to buy. it seems pretty organized according to types of yarn. the best time to come is when they’re not so busy since then, they can give you more attention when u need the help. i think Debbie makes sure to greet you and offer help when you walk in and that’s what really counts. some LYS’s may not even acknowledge you during a whole visit, but here at least i can tell they try. as i always say, supporting a local business brings a good feeling and shopping here is no different.

Best yarn store in the valley. Good selection of yarns, always changing and updating and they are willing to order yarn for you if they don’t have it in stock. Great selection of notions, needles and buttons too.

This is a great little store. Yes, it is small, and they don’t have a huge variety of yarn, but the owners are very nice and super helpful. I crochet and it was nice to find out that Debbie prefers crochet so I didn’t feel intimated like other yarn stores(«you should really learn to knit»). I bought several items as they also seem to carry more accessories than other yarn stores I’ve been to. All in all, a great place. Wish there was something like this closer to home for me.

Having never knit before, I walked into the store hoping I wouldn’t get eaten alive. Instead, I was taken under the wing of Sylvia, who owns the store with her daughter, Debbie. Under Sylvia’s tutelage, I picked up a skein of Plymouth Encore Worsted in brightbright blue(my favorite color), and some size 814″ bamboo needles. The total came to about $ 12, and Sylvia threw in a point protector for free. She wished me the best of luck, and told me if I ever had a problem to come on by, and they’d help. Nicest people, ever. The shop is fairly small, yet it’s filled with yarns of all sorts. I loved it.(Their front door, however, is a challenge – it opens backwards. I’m just sayin…) I’ve been back a few times since, and every time has been just as wonderful.

I can’t speak enough about his yarn place. They know their yarns and have years of experience. Debbie’s shop is approachable and the shop is full of personality and love. Silvia, her mother is well known in the industry and is increadably funny. They are so awesome about helping you with a project. I recommend letting them help you design/pick a project and to go for something challanging, they make it approachable to do anything. Through them I have learned how to Crochet(Debbie’s speciality although she kicks but in knitting too) And I have learned a great deal about yarn. This is the kind of place where you can ask all the dumb questions and be made to feel totally at ease. Prices are reasonable and you totally get the feeling that they have the place to make just enough money to support their habit(Yarn!). Enjoy because I do! Plenty of parking. they are in the Jack and the Box shopping center on the corner of Balboa and Vanowen.

I’m in love with this place and will probably be going back frequently for some holiday gift-making supplies. Great source for specialty and any type of yarn and the owners are so nice — really helpful and very knowledgable. I was admiring a ruffle technique Debbie had done and she was sweet enough to give me a quick demo and a copy of the pattern she made for it. Note if you’re thinking of going in the very near future call first — they did say they will be closed for 2 weeks until July 19(2008). Thank you ladies!

I REALLY like this place. It’s a small shop, but with well-selected yarns, including sock & lighter weight yarns. They also carry a reasonable amount of superwash and machine washable nicer yarns, which I love. The have a good balance of the basics and those yarns that call out to me & give me yarn envy. The owners have always been nice to me, even though I’m a relatively beginner knitter. After not having been back for several months, I was honestly a little surprised that Sylvia & Debbie seemed to remember not only who I was but also some of the things I had liked/disliked in the past. This is coming from someone who is not especially chatty myself, and typically buys small amounts of yarn at a time… so not exactly a top account. I appreciated that when I asked about particular yarns, they shared both positive & negative feedback, so it definitely made me feel like they weren’t just interested in the sale but wanted me to be happy with what I decided on. I liked that after offering suggestions & recs, they also gave me plenty of space but seemed available for questions.(I don’t know how many shops I’d been in that I either felt suffocated with attention or alternatively completely ignored…) I am in no way affliated with the shop other than being a happy customer, but I just wanted to share my experiences, especially since there are a limited number of LYSs west of the 405, and with the closure of a couple of the other places I liked as well, I wanted to encourage my fellow knitters out there to support the places that remind us of why we love to knit.

I went to this yarn shop in search of the kettle dyed Malabrigo yarn(worsted weight, very soft 100% merino wool). It is small, but both Debbie and her mom Sylvia(the owners) were very nice. Debbie even went to the trouble of explaining how to wind my own pull-skein of yarn. The prices seemed competitive(about $ 12 a hank for the Malabrigo) and Debbie wound one hank I bought into a skein for me using the swift. If I don’t use the second hank and it remains unwound(in its original state), then it can be exchanged for another hank or store credit. A great policy, especially since I am not sure how much I will be using. All in all, a good experience.

This is a smaller shop that has a few luxury yarns but they seem to focus mainly on novelty and standard yarns. The women in the shop are very nice(though one of them gave me the stink eye for quite a bit until she actually spoke with me) and want to be helpful. You might have to wait a while for help because these women are really into their stitch and bitch(I had to wait about 10 minutes to find a lull in their conversation to ask for help). 2.5 stars
