I love this place. I don’t eat meat, so the first time I went in there I asked if I could get the spicy coconut curry with fried tofu instead of meat. The woman nodded and asked, «spicy?» I enthusiastically said YES. It was really good and the next time I came in I asked for the same thing, «spicy!» They made it even spicier(awesome). After that, every time I’ve gone in the woman recognizes me and asks right away«coconut curry, fried tofu?» Also, she makes it a little spicier each time, because she has definitely figured out that I love it blazing hot. She also remembers my boyfriend’s top two favorite choices(usually Chicken Pad Thai). Every time we’ve gone here they’ve been friendly and fast, and have given us generous portions of very flavorful food. I can’t speak for the parking situation because I walk here, but there should be tons of available parking on Havenhurst if you can’t get a space in the parking lot(the restaurant strip mall is on the corner of Vanowen and Havenhurst). Btw, I have not been here since they changed from«Win’s Thai Cuisine» to Tangy 1. I really hope they still have the same staff.

Very convenient location as it is walking distance from my house. The Pad Thai shrimp is my favorite and they make it really well here. I normally call for take out as it is pretty hot inside and the smell from the kitchen fills the whole room making it kind of uncomfortable for me. The prices are on the high side for a Thai place in the valley. The food makes up for it so it doesn’t matter.

Don’t be fooled by their depressing appearance… their Thai food is one of the best I’ve ever had outside of Thailand. Their red or green curry(ask for spicy) is delicious and the pad thai noodles is one of the best. Inexpensive and delicious

We had a previous experience with this place when picked up some soup and appetizers before. This time we decided to phone order for delivery on a Sat evening. The restaurant is only a few blocks away from our home, so we thought it will be quick and convenient, since the restaurant and that neighborhood itself is not really appealing. The lady who picked up the phone was giggling and kinda careless and hung up without telling giving any delivery time. Delivery took a while. After 40 min. when called to check on the status same lady said that the order is on the way(without checking our address) than asked if we would like to come in and pick it up, finally told that food will arrive in 10 minutes. We ordered from«Chef’s Suggestions»: Jumbo Garlic Shrimp and Tilapia Fish w/Chili Paste. Received Tempura Shrimp and Tilapia with Peanut sauce … Both dish was pretty oily, the fish under seasoned — I mean no flavor at all and not so crispy like at other thai places. Service and food overall pretty lousy. We agreed to skip this place next time. FYI: as it turned the same lady who picked up the phone is the front desk/chef and delivery in the same person.(on a Sat. night!!)

This place is ok. I agree with another Unilocaler about either dropping the prices a bit or increase the portions. Language wasn’t a problem, but the parking lot is lousy. The pad thai wasn’t impressive. Friendly service though, but I did have to wait a little while(I was the only one there at the time, not even anyone coming in for a pick-up order). A solid 3 stars, with potential for improvement.

I ordered the chicken fried rice for pick up. The rice was good but the chicken… it was a gray color and looked spoiled. I will never go back there.

Decided to try this place since it was in the Entertainment guide. Location/parking: Private lot somewhere in the ghettos of Van Nuys. Seating/wait: We were the only ones in the whole restaurant for lunch. Quite a few people came in for take-outs and from eavesdropping, you can tell these are regular customers. Service: Unsure if this is the usual service but it was horrible. They didn’t speak any English at all. We weren’t able to inquire about their dishes so we had to revert to just pointing to the dish we wanted. Food: 1.Panang Beef curry: The panang curry was pretty good but the beef was overcooked. Nothing spectacular. 2. Spicy fried rice with beef. Spicy enough but bland in all other aspects. Not tasty or delicious. Décor/Ambience: It’s a hole in the wall, small-business restaurant. Restrooms: Narrow, convoluted hallway to get to the restroom. Dogs: No outdoor seating.

Went there last night and won’t return. We ordered the bar-b-que meat plate and it came with gloppy sweet and sour sauce. I asked for Thai dipping sauce, and she gave me something that was just soy sauce, peppers and green onions. Not good or Thai like at all. My son had the broccoli beef that was okay, although the watery sauce was more soup like than sauce. Only one other person came in for take out. She said the yellow curry was good. I guess I should have ordered that.

I don’t even understand how this place gets good reviews at all! We just moved nearby and decided to order from Win’s, and ordered the Bbq Beef, and Tom Ka Kai soup, and Pra Ram, for a cost of $ 25. When we got home,(we picked it up), we were absolutely shocked at the amazingly small portions, and the food was terrible. We 1st tried the soup, and it was completely watered down! We looked at the Bbq beef($ 8) and discovered 4 tiny pieces of meat sitting on a bed of lettuce. And I mean Tiny! We immediately called to complain and the lady admitted watering down the soup! She said they were running low and rather than tell us they were out, just poured water in the bowls and sold it to us anyway! Then she didnt even say anything about the tiny portion of meat(Ritz sized!!) and that was that! $ 25 got stolen from us and I was left starving(i did not touch the soup, it was that terrible, and the tiny meat was like eating 3 crackers worth of food for dinner. We will never go back to Win’s Thai ever again!

Get the Pad Thai Noodles!!! They are the best. And well priced too. I never get anything else so I can’t give any other recommendations.

This place sucked. It is not in a good area. The quantity of food was not enough for lunch special. The food was just okay but it fell short in every other way. I would not go back to this place.

This place is not bad. But it’s definitely not good either. I agree with the comments about prices being high for what you get. The lunch special was about $ 7, and I’d say its worth $ 4.50+tax. If they dropped the price of the lunch special(or gave me more food), cleaned the dirty fork on my table and sped up the service, I might go back.

After this place was in the first Valley Weekly Unilocal email we decided we should see what all the fuss was about. Wow! I’m sold. We arrived to see the bouncer for the bar next door giving some guy the full spread-eagle pat down and nearly bolted after the looks we got from the bar clientele(two of which appeard to be street walkers) that gave us the hard eyeball on the way in… but it turned out to be worth it! I just made a mental note to never go without my husband, or another large male escort. My husband and I both had the dinner special — $ 9! He had the soup, yellow curry, fried rice, and egg roll. I had the salad, pad thai, steamed rice, and egg roll. The food was super tasty and there was a LOT of it, especially for a $ 9 meal. We were the only people in the place(on a Sat night) and the staff was very friendly and prompt.

ever have one of those nights where you make a bowl of whole wheat pasta with fresh tomato, mozzerella and basil, then eat the whole thing and find that, a half hour later, you are still hungry? As I stared into my freezer at a sad little pint of Ben and Jerry’s, I realized that what I really wanted was Chicken on a Stick. Those of you who know anything about Thai would call it Chicken Sauté. I know nothing about Thai, but I know that something about peanut sauce makes me want to leave that little pint alone. I figured, hey, I’m gonna eat more anyways, I might as well eat Chicken on a Stick. So I Unilocaled around, looking for a Thai place that would bring me Chicken on a Stick at 8:45 on this balmy Wednesday evening. With only four reviews, I knew that Win’s could be a big loss, but I decided to give it a shot anyways. I’ve driven past the strip mall that it’s in a million times, but I would never have thought to eat anything that was made next to «the Landing Strip.» Despite my reservations, I ordered. The Chicken on a Stick and Pad Thai(no egg, no onion) were faaaaaantastic. My meal was delivered quickly and it tasted great. The best part is, that sad little pint is still there, waiting, for the day I really need it!

It’s hawt in the Valley. Like-fry-an-egg-on-the-sidewalk hot. It’s so hot I just saw the devil dancing buck-naked in the middle of the driveway. You get it, it’s a bit warm in the summer. So of course what do I do but ask my friend to help me get my new bed from the warehouse to my apartment. After getting the bed up on the truck at high noon with the sun beating on us it was so hot(how hot was it?) it was hotter than a pair of sweat pants full of barbecue. We needed food and drink and we needed something light. Friend mentions a decent Thai place nearby and I am in. Decent? My friend underestimates because this place was way more than decent. I admit in my food exploration I am notoriously uneducated when it comes to Thai(and Vietnamese) but I chose something that sounded interesting — a glass noodle salad with tofu crumbles and shrimp. Turns out I somehow stumbled on the perfect hot day meal. The salad came out cold and dressed in a spicy-but-minty sauce with two chilled cocktail shrimp and crumbled all in was the tofu. It was so good I was full about halfway through but I kept going(you know that good) Our server was sweet and efficient and the menu is on the cheaper side, which is always a plus. The décor is standard but there are plenty of tables as I am guessing it gets busy during lunch hours. .and of course this has nothing to do with it but it’s right next to a bar called«The Landing Strip» which I am intrigued about just due to the name alone. Win’s left us fortified, refreshed and ready to go back out into that hotter-than-two-cats-fighting-in-a-wool-sock weather.

My first experience with Win’s started off with a misunderstanding in my order which they promptly corrected. I feared this was a sign of things to come but couldn’t be more wrong, this is my favorite thai place in the valley now. The food is fresh and delicious. My personal favorites are the Tom Yum Kai soup and Chicken Panang. I request all white meat for everything I order which costs an extra $ 1 per item but is well worth it. I’ve also had the Tom Kah Kai which was really good as well. I tried the Green Chicken Curry and didn’t think it was quite as good however but the delicious Panang makes up for it every time :)
