I could just kick myself.
Oh look everyone, it’s the old guy who’s always whining about there being nothing but chains in Hazel Dell.
I was so sure I had already dropped a review on this place.
I don’t come in here too often but that’s because I save it up as a treat.
Pierogies, bireks, gyros, borsht are all made there, all ready to be topped off by some baked goodies.
They also carry a selection of imported grocery items that often can’t be found elsewhere.
This is certainly a place worth considering the next time you are standing on Highway 99, sighing at all the old, familiar places.

Been coming here for awhile now! I stop in frequently to get some European sodas, the yummy gyro’s, and for the home made borsch! Also for some other type items not commonly found in other stores. These owners and staff are running it much better then the previous tenants which is a big plus. Also great place to get German style breads.
My only con is the same thing I’ve said about any other European /​International style deli that carry’s dry goods and stuff I’ve seen in the area /​Portland area. Check the expiration dates as stock isn’t refreshed as diligently as big box stores. It may not be a big deal to some, but picky eaters like me it is.

Driving by on the 99 it is easy to miss this local gem. Located in an all too familiar strip mall, Babushka boasts the best in international groceries AND traditional Russian/​Ukrainian cuisine. The pastries are made fresh daily and have yet to disappoint. The lamb gyros are perfection, as are the bireks and pierogies. I recommend the feta, potato, or beef and cabbage. Super nice staff also!
