Small place, kind of a dive but with excellent service and food at very reasonable prices. 3 of us had dinner for about $ 35. The tortillas are fresh and the chips are fried to order and served with some of the best salsa I’ve ever had. Plenty of parking in their private lot.

Decided to try this restaurant, via Unilocal, and because it is close to our new place.
AMBIANCE:
This restaurant has the strangest feel. Like it was something quite different before, then was converted into a restaurant. Very run down looking inside; rips and tears in booths and very old furniture.
SERVICE:
Our waiter was very nice, friendly, and attentive.
(Extra star is for the service)
FOOD:
We ordered a steak burrito, and enchilada meal.
My husband was very unhappy with his food and felt like the ingredients were very cheap. My burrito was decent; there was no flavor to the steak and I had to pay .75 to add sour cream because the burrito only came with meat, rice, and beans. The food tasted very home cooked which I like, but was lacking in a lot of flavor.
Probably won’t be returning!

you know, this was pretty darn good! The customer service was pretty decent. My husband had picked this we like to check out new places to get away for a bit together. the portions were generous, the price was great! I thought it was pretty darn decent!

Nice service. Super divey. Tacos were fine. Will come back to try other entrees (especially French toast) but fairly certain I won’t be exceptionally surprised.

Chicken enchiladas not that great. The cheese on top of everything was barely melted. To take a bite, I had to twirl the cheese around my fork like spaghetti. Refried beans bland, Spanish rice bland, enchilada sauce very bland, everything just bland with no spices. No hot sauce present on table, only salt, pepper, and jelly.
I have prepared way better chicken enchiladas and Spanish rice at home using canned enchilada sauce, fresh jalapeños, sautéed onions, and cilantro none of which I could taste at all in these things.
The menu is half burgers/​breakfast and half Mexican food. Based on the enchiladas, I wouldn’t recommend the Mexican side at all.

So glad we tried it! The food was very tasty and especially like the homemade tortillas. The menu and a good mix of authentic Mexican and American food. The prices were very reasonable. So glad this family run restaurant is in our neighborhood.

The service is great and the staff is friendly. I really like the chicken tacos here. The chicken is marinated nicely. Chips and salsa are also a nice touch. The burritos is huge and topped with enchilada sauce.

Delicious Mexican food!!! Sweet little family run restaurant. The mole is my favorite but everything here is delicious. The most authentic Mexican food I have ever tried anywhere in the United States. YUM!

Great place, came here for mother’s day dinner and enjoyed a monster nacho and chicken mole. The portions were quite large. The service was great, and super friendly! As an added bonus, it appears that don Juan was in the kitchen.

The most recent incarnation of the café at the corner of st. John’s and 44th is the Don Juan Corner Café. The past several years has seen a sequence of not very interesting burger joints, but this recent offering finally shows some real promise. The Mexican food is great, and the proprietors seem truly happy to greet you. This is the only decent Mexican food in the area and I would recommend dropping by and giving it a try. The décor could use a little brush up, but the food more than makes up for it.
