Everything is homemade! Yes everything!!! Family owned. They smoke their meats out back. I know because I live nearby and I walk my dog back there just about everyday.(She doesn’t like the smoker) The owners are very. nice and friendly. Love everything on their menu and I have had just about everything. Stop by and grab a bite. You won’t regret it. Oh, did I mention that they cater!

Hidden Treasure. Been open for about 9 months now, I drive past this place everyday for work and didn’t even know! The staff here is really nice and down to earth! The atmosphere is laid back! The food comes quick, hot, and portioned properly for the price. The sides are great and made in house. The hot dog is delicious. The chili is spicy(warned on the menu) but soooo good. The brownie sundae is the best finish! HIGHLYRECOMMENDED :)

Picked up VASTYLEBBQSAMMY&SLAWSANDWICH& the KANSASCITYRIBSSUPPER for my boyfriend for dinner(I had other plans)… So these are his quotes/remarks: «I dropped everything I had in my hands when I walked in the door & inhaled that AMAZINGSMELL of BBQ!!! The RIBS fell off the bones & we’re DELISH! Very meaty &GREAT sauce! The BBQ sandwich is the best I’ve had in a VERY long time! Baked beans were full of flavor! Slaw was great as well! Not a fan of the penne & cheese or fries(I should have gotten him more beans & slaw). I think I’ve found my new Favorite Place when your out! Haha» WEWILLDEFINITELYRETURN! Second visit and again a wonderful experience! There is a reason their hashtag is #bestbbqinthe757. I can’t really fault anything that they serve. Every dish has multiple layers of flavors and the sauces compliment anything you put them on. I indulged myself and got the four horsemen tonight. The brisket is butter-tender, the chicken is superb, the ribs practically throw the bone out, and the pulled pork was smoky and succulent. The proffered sides are where I got in trouble. The mashed potatoes, and penne and cheese were terrific. However there was also a big helping of roasted vegetables and baked beans. My friend had the two-stepper with KC ribs and brisket with a side of cheesy mashed potatoe and hush puppies. All delicious. The service is faultless and the staff are very engaging. I love that for the dedicated customers they have this place is still cozy and intimate. Try this place and you won’t be disappointed!

BESTBRISKETANDBBQEVER!!! Been here twice and I was fell in love the first time I dined here. Indeed, its the same feeling I have right now. This family business is to be highly commended for because they are absolutely good. The type of barbeque they served is extremely delectable. For today’s visit, I ordered the 2 stepper plater consisting of brisket and Kansas ribs with a sides of hush puppies and mash potato top of bacon and cheese. As usual, the meat was cooked to perfection — moist, tender and juicy. It’s seasoned well and savory. I must say, this is the best brisket I ever had. Exquisite is the right word to describe. The ribs are luscious, soft and pulled off the bones. The house sauce adds flavor and makes everything even tastier. Without a doubt, their hospitality is superb. The staff is very welcoming and friendly. I will definitely come back!!!

Best. Ribs. Ever. I’m going straight to the food for this post. As my dad said to the waitress, «you guys smoke the sh*t out of those ribs!» And he wasn’t kidding. It has a heavy smoke flavor which is outrageously good and the bbq sauce on top is tasty! They give you 2 different bottles of bbq sauce also(didn’t get to try the other sauce). Fall off the bone ribs. Tender. Hot on the plate. Crazy good. Next best thing I ate was the potato salad. Best potato salad I’ve ever had. White potato salad with red potatoes(halved, diced, chunky, pieces, etc), celery, onion maybe? Very good. Those items should be the top priority on your list. Baked beans were delicious. More firm texture than what you would expect which is a nice change. Loaded fries were alright. Coleslaw was okay. Hush puppies and cornbread was yummy! The cornbread surprised me cause it had a decent amount of cinnamon in it which reminded me of the spices in like a cinnamon roll. Definitely coming back for more ribs! Btw they have an all you can eat rib special on Wednesdays. Good luck! Make good decisions and get the ribs!

Best BBQ in the 757 Highly recommended. My family and I have ate here several times, had Bubbas BBQ cater my family’s summer bash, and quick yummy lunch fixes. We are never disappointed, the staff is welcoming as friendly, the food is always on point, and the ambiance in the restaurant is very family friendly. Today was another day of trying to figure out what to eat after working at my sisters home construction. Our initial thought was Bubbas BBQ. Called in order to Ms Sarah and food was ready within the time frame for our large order and everything was there, nothing missed and even had a few extra yummy dips. Like always the food was on point, not an empty belly in the house. If you haven’t tried Bubbas BBQ you are missing out. It’s a must have.

This owner-operated BBQ restaurant is a bit of an odd experience. It presents itself as what I can only call an upscale sports bar, with a big TV and country music twanging in the background. That almost loses a star for me by itself, but I’ll forgive it, given the food. This is the best BBQ I’ve had in VB. That’s not saying a whole lot — this area isn’t ripe with great BBQ or anything — but it is very good. The VA style is somewhere between KC and NC(sweet with a tang), whereas the NC is not quite sloppy with vinegar as you often get NC — there’s actually flavor! If recommend both, although I preferred the VA. All sides are housemade but vary in quality. The penne and cheese is very cheesy and not very creamy, which is a matter of taste. The slaw is slaw, and on the not too vinegary side. The baked beans are way too sweet and not meaty enough. The potato salad was a little creamy, a little herby, and clearly the best side of the ones we tried. Final word, this has become our new BBQ place in VB — give it a try!

Small family owned place(40 – 50 max capacity). Modern and clean look in the inside, doesn’t even seem like you’re eating at BBQ place till you see the white paper spread across on all of the tables. 2 small flat screens with sport ands news, and full bar to top it off. The past 3 times I was here I’ve gotten the same thing. The Sammy N Slaw. I’ve tried it both the the NC and VA style sauce and I prefer the acidity if the NC versus the sweetness of the VA. It comes with two sides, my faves are the penne and potato salad. Their loaded fries are delish! Just try and you’ll see why. The portions in comparison to prices aren’t bad at all. I had to take the rest of of my meal togo. Also check out their happy hour! And they have daily specials everyday as well. Next time I’m trying the brisket burgers. Can’t wait!

I stopped in here for lunch by chance while i was in the area running an errand. MY review will not be very detailed because I honestly think i need to visit again maybe for dinner to really give the place a fair chance. I had the brisket, I found it to be interesting, I think it was panfried in the way it was reheated and I didn’t much care for that aspect of it. The Cole slaw was bland and not thick cut but almost like Super market cole slaw, I was disappointed with that as well. The homemade Ketchup was bland and watered down, again maybe I’m missing the point here but id rather have real Ketchup with my fries then watered down tomato sauce. The price for what I got was also a big turn off, 20 $ for lunch, because its some reheated brisket and sides was not an enjoyable experience. The establishment was quite clean and well kept and at the time I was there it was only me and someone else. rest of it was empty, around 2 Pm on a weekday. I will return to this location at some point, I by no means think its bad, or horrible, i am just giving an accurate description of my experience which was not based off an event or special situation. I look forward to editing this review with a more positive tone in the future… Hopefully

Bubba’s BBQ Bistro and Catering A barbeque lover’s review Stopped by on a hot Saturday to see what all the fuss was about. Had recently seen a number of people brag this place was really good. They took over a spot vacated by a higher-end Bistro so the atmosphere does not go with«Bubba» or BBQ. The tables do have a fun little Mason jar with wood chips topped with a candle. The place does not have a hint of smoke aroma in it. It’s way more bistro than BBQ. And maybe the only thing«Bubba» about it was the TV with the NASCAR race. Service was good — the owners were handling the front of the house and doing a good job. My waitress was quick and attentive. The menu does not reflect an owner who claims they serve«#thebestbbqinthe757». They try too hard, in my humble opinion, to please anyone just looking for a bite to eat. I think it has a lot to do with the location. I ordered a half-rack of ribs, which could only be ordered as an appetizer. The lunch menu only offers one barbeque item — Dad’s BBQ Sandwich. The rest are anything but what I’d look for in a BBQ place. The Sandwich & Burger offers five«BBQ» items out of the list of 12. Along with my ribs I ordered a side of penne and cheese, their version of mac & cheese. The food came to the table REALLY hot. They either have a convection oven or a microwave with no audible«ding». The ribs came topped with a hand full of scallions tossed on top — too fussy for a BBQ plate but I guess it goes with«bistro». There was no hint of smoke aroma from the ribs. The Kansas City sauce was pretty good. The half-slab was presented whole so the first test was pulling one of the bones. It pulled cleanly so I knew the meat was going to be tender but on a KCBS judging scale they were overdone. Overall I’d have to give them a 6 out of 9 — average. The penne was a nice change from elbow macaroni but this wasn’t a true béchamel sauce mac & cheese. If it was, it was very light and was masked by the cheese topping, which melted and separated. Again a 6 and nothing more. Final conclusion, if you are hungry for great barbeque, this is not the place to stop. If you happen to be near the Great Neck Village Shopping Center with several people and looking for a nice place for a bite to eat you won’t go away disappointed. They need to stop using the hashtag«thebestbbqinthe757» because it’s not true.

This place is fantastic! Locally owned and the food speaks for itself! No kidding, the brisket and the BBQ(pulled pork) super yummy! It didn’t even bothered me that I just walked 4 miles and came directly here. Those calories from Monday night’s feast were added on with great pleasure… and then some! I sampled: pulled pork, loaded skins, ribs, smoked sausages, brisket, baked beans, potato salad, penne n cheese, the«backyard tea» and the«Sunday afternoon» speciality drinks. Now I must say, I was very happy with all the meats(and potato skins), but they fell short of a 5th star because I did not like any of the side dishes. Penne n cheese… was just ok. I look for a wow factor not an ummmm it’s ok. Especially when it comes to mac n cheese(basically). But others that dined with me enjoyed it. It was blah IMO. Baked beans… they are edible and a healthy protein might I add! That’s why I ate ALLOFTHEM. :) But the beans were sweet, sorta almost like a «pork n bean in a can» taste. They tasted as if too much water was added to them as well. Definitely not a sop your bread up with the leftover juice, but they are healthy i’ll say it again :) I could taste the fat meat in them as well… yucky! Potato salad… ulllllllllllllck!!! :(Now I am so not a fan of onions. And I am definitely not a happy foodie when I can crunch the onions in every bite and taste them before I even taste the POTATOES in the POTATO salad. Yeah I was kinda grossed out by this. But if you LOVE onions oH this is the shizznit then. And yet others that dined with me enjoyed it! :) I didn’t fully get a taste of the speciality drinks because they were watered down. However, others thought they were pretty good. But juding by the ingredients… I need something a lil mo solid :) But they sound like they were cute and tasted worthy of a swig or two or three! :) Speaking of drinks… they offer a slamming happy hour that’s definitely worth round or two any day of the week.: Drink Specials from 12pm-6pm including $ 2 Wells & Domestics & $ 3 Bubba’s Specialty Drinks… Daily food specials from 3pm-6pm including half off All Apps, $ 2BBQSANDWICH, and $.50 Cent Wings. I also seen on Thursdays… pulled pork tacos for $ 2! Say whattttttttttttt!!! I will definitely return on a Thursday! They have other specials as well… call them before you come… it doesn’t hurt! I applaud this hubby and wifey team! They are definitely onto something! The husband spoke to the group and rest assured Everything is made in– house daily from all the sides, sauce’s, salad dressings and even the Ketchup, he said. They even smoke the meats out back(behind the restaurant)! How awesome is this… I love it! If you find that you love this place oso much don’t hesitate to reach out to them for your catering needs. The wifey advised no event is too big or too small. They will customized the menu for you according to your needs. It’s a cute establishment… warm and inviting feel. They praised their Chef and waitstaff… such a nice gesture!!! Check them out if you love good BBQ! Have fun :)

SOLID4.5… I can’t say 4 b/c they’re definitely better than a 4. With regards to a 4.5, read below for all information. First off, I have to be honest, it’s sometimes hard to break past the mentality that you can find absolutely great food in a strip mall/shopping center. But like a few other places, this place does knock it out of the park. I went here and received a sampling of a majority of their foods. Here’s the breakdown: 1. Their«tea»(alcoholic drink — I think backyard tea) — WOW — very, very, very delicious… I was skeptical b/c I’m not much of a tea fan but the flavors are very well crafted. 2. The BBQ doesn’t disappoint. For a place that advertises BBQ, it’s a nice relief to have several variations(VA/NC style) and a few sauces that compliment so, so well. 3. Brisket — personally, I’m not a big fan of briskets but here they do it up real well. Tender, not dry, and the sauce doesn’t overwhelm. 4. Penne pasta — good gracious, cheese awesomeness. 5. Potato salad — yep. you guessed it. still glorious. 6. Jalapeño bites — good BUT… very spicy. Yes I get it Jalapeño… but this is a whole new level of heat. Be warned, it’s very hot. Everything I had was very, very good. When talking to the owners and staff, they were all exceptionally helpful and very friendly. When we talked they stressed how they made all their sauces in-house. It shows too… the flavors that bombard your mouth are rather exciting to say the least. The restaurant itself is very classy. The bar area looks very elegant and the inside is very clean and respectable. If you’re considering a date idea and the significant other(or prospect) like BBQ — take them here!!! It’s ideal for the small mom/pop place while giving wondering food to boot. The only quandaries I had were when researching this place, I couldn’t find a menu. I uploaded a few pics from the menu but I don’t know if they came out well. They have a fb page and while I’m not a fan of that, at a bare minimum, please, please create an album entitled«menu» and then put the menu up there. With regards to the menu I think that they are selling themselves short. Some of the rather delicious items had little to no description. This doesn’t do the food ANY justice. Now I’d imagine that some of the description could be limited b/c I’m sure their sauces are considered trade secrets. Which I’m ok with; but it’d still be nice to have a description to help make the customer palette salivate for what is about to come their way. Overall, this place is a unique gem that absolutely rocks. Come here for your BBQ needs as I’m very confident all the other places I decide to go to next will absolutely pale in comparison. Food taste — 5 Overall Service — 5 Value of food to cost — 4.5 Facility — 5 Repeat customer? — heck yes

I enjoy supporting small family owned local businesses and I hope that more people discover Bubba’s. I appreciated hearing from the husband and wife team Sara & Mike. They’ve been married for less that three years and they decided to go on this awesome adventure together starting their own business. There were so many doubters and naysayers and they still pressed on. Six months after opening they are going strong despite not putting out any advertising… word of mouth is keeping them afloat. They make everything on premises, If you drive around back you can see them smoking meat, they also make their own ketchup etc. Even the Chef is a family friend with several years in the head chef position at other establishments. He was even guest chef on «The Hampton Roads Show» 4 times. They like to keep the staff small. And the owners look forward to seeing your face time and time again. I enjoyed the potato salad, penne and cheese, some spicy fried chicken. and brisket on a pretzel roll. Bubba’s BBQ Bistro is eager for the chance to fulfill all of your Catering needs. Who has had the corn fritter dessert? Is is really a taste of heaven?

TKO! I have a sensory overload from the barbecue in this joint! It’s so much to take in that they should have a complimentary nap room hidden in the back. I feel like I need to attach a strap on the back of the chair across my forehead so my face doesn’t fall into the plate from the overwhelming sweet aroma of perfection. Amazing.

I don’t normally give 5 stars on my first experience at a restaurant, but this place is LEGIT. On the 4th of July my boyfriend & I wanted some American style grub & I had been hearing great things about Bubba’s from Unilocal & facebook friends. We came in for lunch & were blown away. For one, the décor is very nice inside & it’s a sit down spot, which I prefer & is rare for most of our local BBQ joints. They have daily drink/food specials & were having $ 216oz PBRs & $ 3 crushes. Yes, please. The menu has lots of your favorite BBQ options to choose from & all of their sides are made in house! Including 3 different types of mashed potatoes! I went with the 2BBQ sammies with slaw, with a side of penne & cheese and the bacon & cheese mashed potatoes. All of that was only $ 11.99! It was the best pulled pork I’ve ever had. Boom I just said that. I had one of each for the sammies, a NC based &VA based. The sweet VA base was my favorite. The portions are large fyi, but my bf wanted to try some of my sammies or I would have been more than full with one. My boyfriend ordered the brisket sandwich on a pretzle bun with potato salad & baked beans. His sandwich was also ridiculously good. Between mmm’s & stuffing our faces, we kept saying how delicious & inexpensive this place is for the amount of amazing food. The owners/staff were all very friendly too. This is definitely the place to go when you want great food!

Are you looking for the best BBQ no matter what style you like? Look no further Bubba’s BBQ Bistro is the spot. Let me begin by saying this is not your typical BBQ place. You’re not gonna see a pink pig welcoming you. This is a bistro. It’s like BBQ and upscale dining had a baby. Don’t get me wrong you’re still gonna get that at home feeling, especially with the wood chip candles and mason jars. Not to mention the owners are always there making you feel like you’re a regular even if it’s your first time. But Bubba’s can do no wrong in my books. No matter the style you like there are plenty of options for you. This night I had the burger. Holy crap. Made from scratch, juicy and medium. Win, win, win. It was so big, I ended up taking half home. Oh, and don’t even get me started on the fries. Cut from scratch fried up and delish. They even make their own sauces(ketchup and ranch included.) I wish my stomach was as big as my eyes because I’d totally have gone for the brownie sundae. But alas, I was too full. On other visits I’ve had their pulled pork sliders, brisket tacos and tried the ribs. I’m not joking when I say you can’t go wrong with anything on the menu. Def make the trip to go to Bubba’s. I’m positive you won’t be disappointed.

Orgasmic to say the very least. Beef brisket… Wow, you stole my heart. I did my happy dance and made an O face immediately when I took my first bite. I promise you, there’s no brisket in town better than what this place has to offer. Not to mention their ribs. Holy crap. These things were good, too. I had my girlfriend licking my fingers on the pieces I brought home. But really, the brisket… This is the Filipino in me thinking this but when you have something that good in front of you and you don’t even think about adding rice with it then you there’s definitely something special.

Came in here with the kids after sunny beach afternoon. The ambiance is a little interesting for a bbq place, dont know if I care for the sort of weird bar seating that is right in the middle of the restaurant… it seems like no one would ever actually want to sit there and they should just turn it into a normal table, but maybe I am wrong… It is pretty much the same seating arrangement as it was when this place was«Savor» so the tables are somewhat limited, we were there pretty early in the evening and I am not sure how crowded they get later… Service was excellent and very friendly! I thought the bbq sandwich was great, and my daughter had the penne with cheese which was very tasty though it was very, very much drenched in butter. I am loathe to point this out, because if you are ordering what is essentially macaroni and cheese, you really should not be griping about it’s health component, but this was sort of out-of-control. Coleslaw also tasty, and if it were not so lovely out I may have gone for one of the soups. They sounded fantastic! I noticed that as of right now, this place has a single dollar sign listed as it’s price-range on Unilocal, and I am going to very strongly disagree with that. Except for the BLT and veggie sandwich, most of the sandwiches are around $ 9.99 and the entrée(platters) seemed to be more in the 15 – 20 dollar range, not saying it is not plenty of food or a good value, I just would not want to come in thinking it was going to be considerably cheaper than it is listed as being(which is what happened) I figured it would be more along the lines of Malbon Bros when they were at Hilltop. This was an assumption on my part though, so I am not going to blame them! It is pretty rare that we go «out» for bbq, but I will be checking out their take-away menu for summer!

All I say is WOW! The Brisket is Wonderful, the ribs fall off the bone and all the sides are absolutely amazing! I have been there several times and the daily specials are always something to check out. Today the pulled pork tacos with pineapple salsa were to die for. Could not even wait long enough to take a picture. FANTASTIC!
